It's possible but unlikely given our reluctance to commit more players in attack.

Look at the pass to setup the first goal in the home league against Anderlect, it was that kind of pass that we just didn't have in the locker today. Fellaini is just a wasted player in the middle of the field in an attacking sense.

At Old Trafford; Aguero, Sane, Jesus, Gundogan, Toure, Kompany were all out & you had all those players you mentioned fit. Was still 60:40 possession, twice as many shots, and shots on target for City.

Not convinced that's a valid excuse; it was clearly a tactic to just put 10 men behind the ball & defend for 90 minutes.

Jesus wasn't at the club at that point.
Toure and Kompany are players on the way out of the club.

At least four of the players I mentioned would have been in the starting line-up on most occasions.

Congrats on the point, keeps your right in the hunt. Its clear we were the better team but you guys defended really well, with numbers and in the end we got Jose'd. In truth despite 70% possession and 19 shots, only Aguero's was a really good chance, the rest half chances and you guys had 2 great chances through Herrera and Bravo setting up Mkhi. We unfortunately had another one of those home games that you've had many of where we just either messed up the final ball or hit a poor shot.

I thought your back 4 was excellent as 2 of them are probably 2nd choice, Herrera and Fellaini very disciplined before Fellaini's madness and Carrick very composed and kept you marshalled well. Martial seems to have listened and started working hard and I thought Rashford was brilliant.

For us another of those games where Kun had a 5/10 when we need an 8. KDB and big Yaya magnificent.
Fernandinho should have been booked as should Otter early, had they been I think the ref would have better control of the entire game.
Cowardly and not something I like to see from Aguero but Fellaini only has himself to blame and I'm sure one of your guys would do the same in reverse. Still not something I like to see, cynical as hell and ruins the game.
Nice post. Yeah just remembered Fernandinho twice used his hand on our players head, Ander and someone else. Ottamendi grabbed Rashford also in the 1st.
At times you played some nice stuff but you don't look deadly.

Is it just me or atmosphere was a bit meh, especially compared to some past derbies.

I'm sure your post made more sense in your head. We have invested heavy in recent times, I made reference to woodward because he's presided over transfers during this period, yet our squad is still pretty poor quality wise imo. Also, many of our recent buys were on the pitch btw.
A number of important ones weren't. They have played well recently, so today they didn't but still stayed on their unbeaten run and are still in the race for 4th place.

Agree with it all.

Lucky to salvage a point today, but it was expected given the injuries in the team.

5 goals against United in 2017, building a team from the back and a few match winners away from a title challenge.

I give Fellaini 1/10 today. He was slow to react to everything around him, did nothing to relieve pressure for me, let alone change defence into attack and he was stupid to square up to Aguero. These idiots earn megabucks and it's embarrassing that they act like fools. Granted, Aguero dropped like a pair of dirty knickers, but doesn't Fellaini the fool realise he is asking for trouble in the first place. Both are shameful 'pros' and an embarrassment to the game for their actions.

Surprised Geoff Shreeves isn't sucking Guardiola off between questions during this interview.

So, how many fit and available senior players do we have now at CM?
Just carrick and Ander? With Carrick basically out for the weekend game (as he can't play 2 within a week), wonder who'd play alongside Ander. A debutant?

Agreed. But Lingard's selection was on Mourinho's hands which he did not make
Lingard had started all of our last four games. Mkhitaryan is supposed to be the better player, anyhow.

This City team beat Barcelona in City. That is the advantage a team has when they are at home. So we drew where that great Barcelona team lost. That is a good result.

If we were open like Barcelona were in City, we would have lost.

Now if this performance was in Old Trafford I would be disappointed. But its a solid performance in City.

Guardiola reacts
“We tried, we played like we want to and we conceded few chances. We controlled their danger and we created enough chances to win - they had two in 90 minutes.

It is not easy to play against United but we tried everything to win and we didn’t do it.

Next season will be better.

They defended compact and tried to wait for a mistake.”

What funny is most here talked about Fellaini incident like we were having a good game or even planned to win. At least he played well before the send off unlike Mikhi who invisible in 2nd half and Herrera who kept winning back the ball he, himself gave away in multiple occasions.

Luckily, Bailey played well today as well as Valencia. Carrick is MOTM for me, the only one with composure in the middle and read the game/ball well.

Fellaini killed the game plan which will likely have been hold tight, push a little more as the game opens up last 20. Even if it was just don't lose he increased that risk

It makes perfect sense if you had thought about what you wrote.

Yes and we have had 3 managers under Woodwards watch all bringing in their own and moving players on so it's not the same thing.

So what is your argument is meaningless

Great post.

Reckon United and city will have the title fight next season that most people thought we'd have this season.

Big summers ahead for both managers.

Guardiola looks like a teacher coming to the end of his first term long after deciding he's getting on his bike in the summer and never coming back.

No Pobga, no Mata and no Ibra and some of you still bitching?

And that's fine, result wise, but a lot of the 15 teams below us don't have any players of that quality to begin with. I'm not despondent about the result, or turning against Jose, but I am disappointed that Manchester United (in any form) didn't have a single shot on goal, or even a promising attack, in a whole 45 minutes of football. We settled for the draw on 30 minutes.

It was torturous watching that. I'll suck it up, but still, urgh.

I'm chill with the 0-0, expected this type of game. We were outplayed but fought very well and can't remember city missing too many what proper chances, mainly snap shots and hit and hopes.

Pep's and Mou's comments. They mellowed their relationship. Had a nice handshake and a hug before the game too. <3

Blind or Rooney

Sandra from laundry.

Well, that was painful. However, at least Mourinho can't pick Fellaini for 3 games.

Much as I anticipated, Mou will now be at risk of reaping the negative consequences of not giving the likes of Tuanzabe and Fosu-Mensah more game-time earlier in the season. Although I do think they have the ability to step up.

That said, I fear Jose will just cram average squad players like Darmian and Young into their natural positions. The next 8 weeks could be huge in determining his ling-term success at United.

I haven't been to Etihad but twice (one was a derby) but the atmosphere is nothing compared to Maine Road. Whether the ground is too big for us or more likely we have alot of fans who want the team to get them going instead of the other way around which is frustrating. Its like people are waiting to be entertained and if they aren't for 5 minutes it goes super dull. I also think theres a nervousness in the team which spreads to the fans, which spreads to the team and so on.

Alot of the heat has gone out of the derby and Pep and Jose's re-found love is kind of boring and not at all how both sets of fans were hoping it would play out.
