In terms of form it was a win for use, they have been on fire recently and us crap so it is a victory in that respect but we did need the 3 points more. I was still surprised to see it end nil all, thought it was there for a smash and grab by either.

We never played quite like tonight under Fergie

Yes sometimes we were more conservative. But this was a Jose special
Yes we have. Plenty of times. Actually most times at anfield we played far worse under fergie. Also it wasnt even bus parking. We created marginally better chances overall, basically same amount of shots, and just let them hold the ball with their back 4 all day.

You lots were harping on how we'll get battered and when we manage a draw away from against a team in form you claim disappointment.

Agreed, I was very encouraged by the performance and I'd imagine Mourinho would've been quite happy with it as well.

We actually had tactics and executed them well. Instead of having 75% possession all game then conceding with 10 minutes to go.

If we can beat Chelsea then we can be on the right track. Will be another difficult game.

Think tonight was a much bigger test, especially on the back of an international break. A much more hostile atmosphere also. Chelsea have dangers, for sure, but I think we're a better team than them, and reckon we'll go there favourites.

I really thought there was a chance we were going to get a bit of a stuffing, so I'm pretty pleased with the result. Could be a vital point at the end of the season. Jose got it right with what he has and how long he's been with us. We were disciplined and it was obvious Liverpool being the home side and in better form would go for us in the last 20 odd minutes. Pogba is stuggling, with the pace, lack of space and intensity of the PL. Coming from the Italian league that is not surprising. I hope he can adjust quickly, because at the moment he's contributing no where near enough.

We're average, we dont look like scoring even if we played for 5 hours. We cant create shit and it's so disturbing after all the investments. I dont expect us to differ much from the LvG era at all.
Typical post from you, really is.
I'll let you figure it out on your own.

We are due some good football soon, surely? Getting bored of how reactive and unexciting United have become over the last couple of seasons. It's not a loss I guess.
Suppose you dint watch us vs stoke? Internationals cloud your memory.

Take a point and move on, all the moaners going on about how bad it was to watch would be the same ones moaning if we'd been more attacking and lost.

Must sting tonight, can't remember a time where Liverpool were such favorites. I think a lot of pool fans had got the victory T-shirts printed already like the 2013/14 PL Winners ones.

Why would it sting? We've lost four on the trot against u

We often played like that under Fergie. Most notably in Europe. People lost their shit then too "Attack attack attack" "Four four two, four four two"

Like I said. Short memories.
Sorry I don't at all

This was not a typical Ferguson game by any stretch

For the sheer fact we purposely played this way it was never, ever the norm. Maybe at times the opposition were so good we had no choice but to play for a draw. But tonight they offered very little an we took it like a bitch.

It's the 2nd goalless draw in 40 odd games against Liverpool.

You have a short memory

Jordan Henderson says "um" in interviews more than Rooney

We barely created a chance all game, and clearly were playing for a point
Had 35% possession
Would have lost if not for DDG (again) bailing us out twice

And people think that's good enough for Manchester United?

This was one of the reasons why I was skeptical of Mourinho. He's such a coward. I'll cut him some slack though since we were missing two presumed first teamers in Martial and Mkhitaryan, but still, we could have at least given it a shot.

Point won. But I think Giggs just said it well on Sky - you have Chelsea Fenerbache and City so coming for a point here is fine. But now you should really go for 3 when you play Chelsea. No one wants 3 draws on the trot.

FFS would have been better had we played a not boring game but lost 5 - 1 maybe. Surprised that people still don't know the difference between getting results vs playing good football. The two don't necessarily go hand in hand

There's always a middle ground. You can get results and offer a bit more as well. We've done it plenty of times before. In isolation it's not a bad result. Very disciplined at a tough away ground but when the time comes to impose ourselves in big games, we'll need to show more quality. Plenty of attacking potential not being shown.

Yes we did. Away to Barcelona in the semi-final in 2008. Not a great Barcelona side at that point. Also, away to City in the title decider in 2012, which we lost to a single goal.

I don't like it but sometimes I can understand it. Mourinho got it more or less right today, only his subs or lack thereof annoyed me.

You utd fans happy with that after all the money spent?

Mourinho>Pulis isn't it?
We were playing in your half in the first 45. More quality in the wide positions and we might have been able to do something. Am reasonably happy, the hype over your team has been insufferable.

Not amazing to watch but good to see this team can knuckle down and defend. Impressed by the Cashley tackle in the first half in the box and a similar one by Tony in the second.

De Gea with two awesome saves and Ander showing what a great engine he's got as well as desire in these big games.

We can draw these but we need to win against smaller teams like Watford.

We created better chances than Liverpool (higher xG value) so if we parked the bus what the hell did Liverpool do?

We defended well but were stretched about once. Liverpool couldnt even pass it anywhere within 40 yards of the united goal

I agree you defended well but the football wasn't the Utd way. That's all I mean. Wasn't a smart arse post or it wasn't meant to be.

Boring as feck. Pogba useless. Good defense. Herrera very good. Rooney lost his man twice in the 16 minutes he played.

Typical Mourinho game, not sure why many expected any different.

Rooney lost his man twice in about the first 5 minutes he was on the pitch.

I'm amazed anyone is surprised by that tactic. Typical Jose and we all know it. I'm impressed we could actually do a parking bus job.

Although i have been quite critical of Jose. It cannot be denied that we have never yet managed to field a full strength team yet. Hopefully we win at the bridge and can kick start our season.

with LVG we would have played like Liverpool in the first half, sitting back and being cautious and giving the ball away. I thought it was an excellent tactical performance, very disciplined and we unnerved them in the first half. There were a few chances where we could have won it but unfortunately Ibra and Pogba both had an off day.
How is it an off day of them? Pogba doesnt have people with pace in front of him so its hard for em to set up chances. Fellaini en Herrera were told to stay back so thats even less. Ibra has no pace what so ever, young cant cross so you rely pretty much on Rash. To me that sounds like you have absolutly no intention to score a goal. I can deal with it for one game but for some reason ill expect this for all the big games which concerns me

If and when we get our talent playing well together, we'd put away a side of Liverpool's quality. As is, we're disjointed and Jose played the tactical game to ensure we don't drop more points. Not a good watch, and was disappointing to see the likes of Young and Fellaini get virtually the full 90, but I still expect better as we go on. It was good explain of executing on the plan though the final result didn't see us get that lone goal.

Im happy with that. I think Ibra was poor, not for missing that chance, but couldn't make the ball stick up there, which us precisely what he's there for.

Good platform to kick on from. There won't be many teams that won't concede against Liverpool this season, well have to turn em over when they come to old Trafford though.

Ugly draws at Anfield when Liverpool are in better form? Fine with me.

We do have problems in the team that need to be resolved if we're going to overtake Liverpool in form though. Still, today was what it was.
