Post-match discussion

Well done to the team for getting the win, we really need to transfer our cup form to the league!

First half was one of the worst performances of the season, worse than Newcastle or Palace or Bournemouth. Once we made the subs, we took over the game and squeezed out the result. Zirkzee and Garnacho were brilliant off the bench, but unfortunately Mainoo and Hojlund were very poor. Dalot was awful on the left, offered nothing going forwards.

Dorgu was fine on his debut though was bemused we didn’t start him on the left. I want to see him there in the next game.

Overall very poor performance. 65 min before we had a shot on target. Subs changed the game, but also shows Garnachos weakness when played from the start.
Cannot understand we buy a Lwb and still play Dalot there.

Pleased we got through in the end but Christ we’re miles away. The first half was dreadful

The Garnacho and Zirkzee subs changed the game. They should definitely start next time around.

What a quote…..”Massive respect to the linesman who knew he was miles offside but just didn’t want to watch another half an hour of that shite”.
Absolute class

Apart from the very obvious offside goal at the end, we were very fortunate we weren't playing a better side than Leicester off the back of that first half performance. If that was a league fixture against any team bar the newly promoted sides, a performance like that likely would've seen us dead and buried.

We were a bit better second half with Garnacho's energy and Amad moving to the wing back on the other side but it's really concerning that the baseline is so low.

Get in there.

In the end anyway because that was a slog. Bet the Leicester fans are regretting asking Harry Maguire whats the score?

I thought Oliver was bad but Salisbury was trying hard to compete. I’m sure, however, that Leicester probably think the same. It’s all very well “letting the game flow” but there has to be a limit.
At least he didn’t over-rule the linesman on the off-side goal :-)

Glad to have the next 2 games and possibly 4 of the next 5 away from home (FA cup and Europa draw pending )

Maguire gave an interview after saying the poor form at Old Trafford is affecting them .

Was their goal not offside too? When it comes back to him after Onana saved it he looked in front of our defence.

Great win and good that we kept plugging away. Awful performance really though (again).

Cannot get my head around buying a new LB, playing them RB and playing your right back on the left still. Baffling why managers make problems for themselves.

I don’t know why the first half was such a massive turd. I’m not sure whether it was Amorim trying to be clever or trying to experiment in a game that’s pretty low risk since it’s a second string Leicester, but boy was it an excruciating watch.

I hope Zirkzee benches Hojlund at this point. How many more chances is Hojlund going to get? Couldn’t make it happen against that Leicester back line.
Imagine being benched by Zirkzee

Well that was terrible

1st half zero pace, quality, energy, desire

Mainoo was absolute garbage, if Rashford gets slaughtered for jogging around the Mainoo has to think again because we may as well have played with 10 men and left him on the bench.
Ugarte tried but he could neither hold on to or pass the ball
Bruno playing deeper was ineffective and still wasteful
Maquire, he got the goal but with him as the central defender there is no possibility of moving the ball quickly across the back line, every time he has to have 5 touches
Amad seems bang out of form, had poor control and passing

The positives
Garnacho brought the energy, but his decision making is just terrible, did 1 thing right in 5 and fortunately it led to a goal, but he could have had 3 assists with better decision making
Dorgu was our best player 1st half (but he did not have any competition
Hojlund had some decent moments, and a few poor ones too be he looked brighter than he has
Zirkzee fought and took control of the midfield in a way that Bruno, Ugarte and Mainoo had failed to do

Yoro, Dalot, Maz, Amad had solid but uninspiring games

We have been outplayed by all the worst teams in the league, but then this is nothing new we were last season as well, I cannot wait for the summer when we can hopefully get some players who can bring energy, because I see nothing coming from these pretenders, for now we need some youth on the bench to freshen it up, look at the engery levels of someone like Collyer, he may not be a great talent, but at least he has working legs, get the youth in they could hardly be worse than this shower of shit

Football is about risk. If Amorim continues to sacrifice creativity and attack for possession, I don't see him lasting at United. He will be out of the door by end of next season.

That might actually be the worst I’ve ever seen us play.

Being pinned into our penalty area was one thing but seeing genuine honest to god professionals fail to do stuff a four year kid could do and make a pass or control a football was astonishing.

There’s bad and then there’s whatever the frck that was. It was like none of them wanted to play football at all so they were flat out refusing to bother.

Still the same. Non existent attacking threats especially in the first half. Awful performance. Saved by VAR being not available in this game. How ironic. Nothing to happy about.

How can a team of professionals be this bad at passing the ball to each other?

Rasmus has stopped running, he jogs to try and press

The amount of room we gave Leicester is crazy, we couldn't get near them

There’s no team chemistry with this squad. Still early days, in point of fact, but it seems like years we’ve been watching this squad under Amorim.

We just have to accept this is who we are right now. Keep waiting for it to “click” but it’s just not going to happen this season is it.
Most has accepted that but still the few odd balls on the match day thread predicting a easy win or a so called big reaction to a defeat.

We won, it was horrible, let's pray we can forget this and improve in the next matches. Because not only was that ineffective, it was DULL. United should always be exciting to watch. We are where we are squad wise, it's up to him to find a way for the rest of the season.

Can’t remember a United squad with so few quality attacking options.

It’s Bruno in his 5th year at the club plus a load of inconsistent unexperienced kids.

But the United spirit and recent good form in the cup competitions continued…onto the next round.

Rashford would be destroyed for the pressing he did tonight
