Where would you rather they go? To the local park and sleep on a bench?
the poster you're replying too is right in my opinion. we are in dire financial straight and Case, Lindelof are happy with their millions on the bench, Shaw and mount same but getting their wee fecking massages to earn it. Shaw made 8M since his last appearance. I know regular fans like myself are in cuckoo land and naive but where is the token toward the club? think of the credibility either would have to do some sort of financial token back to the club. .Sows the lot of them milking us the best they can while they are giving staff soup and rolls like some sort of derisory drop in homeless set up. Greed

Aside from all the kneejerk reactions and Amorim out crowd, I thought we played ok today. Though as per usual it takes to go a goal behind before the team stepped it up. De Ligt was brlliant, Zirkzee just loves a nutmeg if he had some proper pace he would be a proper striker. Even Casemiro played well when he came on except for one or 2 lose passes. Bruno stepped up once again to save us.

I think we're getting to the point where it might be worth starting Obi, just to take Hojlund out of the firing line for a game. Obi offered a lot more today and was unlucky not so get on the scoresheet. Pens are a lottery, keepers guesses the right way they're likely going to save it. Even the best have had theirs saved in much bigger games.

Lindelof shouldn’t be getting any minutes, far too passive for this system. Crap penalty to cap off a poor performance. Give all his minutes to Heaven, who bailed him out and looked much better.
2 poor teams battling away and we were unlucky not to win during the 90 minutes.

Now most of the season is pretty much a dead rubber, it can't hurt at all getting him more experience.
See if he's going to be a regular feature on the bench next season.

Rasmus 0 in about 18.
Zirkzee 1 in about18
Garnacho 0 in 19.
There is the problem.

Yeah, there's no denying that these are awful stats. Very poor.

I thought we played badly in the first half, then looked better once we took Hojlund off. Finished normal time pretty well. Could have done a bit more in extra time to get the win.

We didn't look like we were going to lose the game when it went to 1-1, but we never really looked truly like we were going to win it either. It's very timid from us in attack.

I thought there were some good to decent performances in there. Team structure was good, the set up looked good.

But same old problem. The forward players are giving us nothing.
Not sure I agree the team setup looked good. We avoided looking horrendously open but that is a very low bar

It's the problem with playing 3 at the back. You have to have about 7 options for the inevitable injuries we get with injury prone Shaw, unfortunate to get long term injuries Martinez and guide the younger ones in.

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows.

Do we pay long term injured players or does their insurance take care of it?

We played okay for about 50 minutes (including extra time), but even then Fulham probably had as many chances as we did.

gonna try and be positive

Chido Obi gave Bassey a hard time. He had pocketed Hojlund so it was great to see the kid do so well. With a touch more composure he might have won it for us as well.

Like the look of Heaven... looked composed and athletic.

Bruno is Bruno.... what a player

Onana (mini first half brainfart aside) had a good game with a few decent saves.

I'm out.... get some rest before Sociedad

How about Garnacho up front? Hojlund & Zirkzee have proven themselves useless, Obi is nowhere near ready.

Honestly it's either Garnacho or Maguire for me at this point

For the most part thought we were decent, looked solid at the back, but we do seem to make scoring a goal seem like the most impossible task in football.

I don’t think Hojlund gets the service he probably needs to thrive, but I thought he could have done more with some of the situations he had.

But since Højlund is not the same Højlund as last season, even Rashford at 25% would be better.

Possibly, but Rashford's lack of effort and enthusiasm is part of the reason the club is where we're at. Medium/long term its better to remove Rashford from the club.

The issue was that we didn't bring anyone to replace Antony/Rashford. Even a loan of an older player would have been useful.

PK shooters selection was so weird. Everyone and their dog knew that A) Lindelof was so abysmal that there's no way he would scored and B) Zirkzee was absolutely exhausted and there was no way he would shoot a decent penalty. Yet somehow they are the 4th and 5th penalty takers. It baffles the mind. Couldn't Garnacho or Mazraoui step up?

Poor as usual. Some will blame everything but the manager, putting 0 responsibility on the man seving up the most boring football we've ever witnessed.

Should have won it in the 90 but for Garnacho's abysmal showing in front of goal. Obi should be given a run out now and Rasmus dropped for a while. His confidence must be lower than whaleshit. Onana kept us in it with some good saves when Fulham came at us.

From discussing one of the most pressing issues at the football club this message board is dedicated to. It’s really silly.
There’s nothing wrong with giving everyone a big of cooling space before posting.
The thread can be very toxic

Rasmus 0 in about 18.
Zirkzee 1 in about18
Garnacho 0 in 19.
There is the problem.
Yet the club did nothing about it. They were relying on Bruno and Amad delivering and with Amad's injury we were well and truly screwed. I just want the season to end, but not hopeful about next either.

Didn't watch the game, but saw the expected result.

We were never winning this cup so it's just as well that we'll have fewer matches moving forward.

I thought Fulham were in control for much of the game from ca 25 minutes and onwards. We are very poor attacking wise, not helped by Zirkzee and Höjlund of course.

Hate to say it, but we are a nothing team.
Nothing up front.
Nothing in midfield.
We create nothing like enough chances.
And we are nothing like good enough.

I keep looking for signs of improvement and signs that Amorim is having a positive effect.
But still nothing.

I don't think in a set up sense there was anything particularly wrong.

Defensively we handled them well. We had plenty of the ball. Moved it from back to front well.

Just individual quality in the forward positions that cost us.

Bruno and De Ligt were good. Thought Casemiro was actually good today when he came on. Zirkzee some good, some bad, which is pretty standard for him. Onana very good today tbf. Garnacho made some decent runs but his end product remains particularly bad atm. He really needs to start focusing more on his finishing in training. Heaven looked very solid. Wouldn't have known he was a youngster at all.

Obi was the biggest possitive. Great positioning and movement. He instantly became our biggest threat after coming on. Obviously not the finished article at just 17, one particularly bad touch from a Bruno pass and his 1st effort was a poor one, but he was very unlucky to be denied a goal by Leno and was far more involved than Hojlund. Not expecting him to start against Sociedad but I wish he would. If he continues to perform at that level throughout the rest of the season I think he has big potential.

Really bad to go out of the FA Cup this early.
Everyone not mentioned was poor and Fulham probably just about deserved to win on balance. Still not seen any improvement to the overall team structure under Amorim and maintain he deserves far more criticism than many on here seem prepared to give him. EL the only thing left now. Rest of season is pointless. If we go out of EL can only hope that we somehow invest correctly in the summer despite not having Europe, and the system suddenly clicks.

I still think the more likely scenario is we won't improve, Amorim wil be sacked midseason and we'll have a similar situation with a new manager coming in with a new formation but with no money to spend.

Lindelof scored winning penalty vs Brighton, Zirkzee scored winning penalty at Arsenal. Today those 2 players missed. Shame. I actually think we were decent overall in 120 minutes, but guess the bar is low. We were poor in attacking areas though. Garnacho's finishing is frustrating, Hojlund rarely gets into a chance and Obi was good given his age lack of experience etc but established striker would take one of the chances he had. Happy with his performance anyway.

Shite feeling as we went all the way to the final last 2 seasons and now go out earlier. In league it's basically only case of how many more points and wins we can get (not many surely) and then there's Europa and I'm not an optimist without Amad.

I think a big issue again today was a lack of width, and as frustrating as he was at times I think again it was a reason why we looked better once Garnacho came on.

In the first half, our left wing-back was Dalot and he was partnered with Eriksen in the left attacking-midfield role. Eriksen has his uses but isn't nearly explosive enough to cause issues running at a full-back, and Dalot's left foot isn't strong enough to do so either. On the right hand side, for essentially the entire match it was Mazraoui in the wing-back role and Zirkzee as the attacking-midfielder. Again, I don't think either of them were completely awful, but they do not pose meaningful problems running at a competent full-back.

This lack of width has, in my view, been a fairly consistent issue under Amorim. To a significant extent it's an issue with personnel - with Dorgu suspended and the mountain of injuries we've had this season, we were left with pretty slim pickings out wide today. On the other hand, I do think Amorim has to do more to work around this problem.

The season was done with the Amad injury. If you can't score goals you can't win games.

Europa will be done soon enough too.

We’ve got no attacking threat anymore, Amad being injured killed the season. We can’t even counter teams like we used to. Our biggest attacking threat has to play in midfield as we don’t have midfielders either.

I imagine Amorim is gone within 12 months but we have very poor squad and new formations/managers are only going to make so much difference.

The club had no money to do anything about it because we wasted too much on on bringing in new coaches and players for Erik only to have to payoff Erik and those coaches when we sacked them a few months later before wasting more money paying Sporting for Ruben and his staff.

Rasmus 0 in about 18.
Zirkzee 1 in about18
Garnacho 0 in 19.
There is the problem.

While they haven't been the most prolific of attackers both Garnacho and Rasmus got double digit goals last season. Not saying much, they are clearly not starting material, however, its also very clear these tactics do nothing for the attackers.
