Can blame the ref all we want which I think is warranted but we are so rubbish it actually makes no sense. I think im done with this season.

Let's be honest here. Even if we have a miracle win in Turkey and finish 2nd in the group. We will probably be out in the first last 16 knock out game.

We are currently mid-table and don't look like finishing in the top 4. So that's no champions league next season.

Dropping into the Europa and possibly winning it, is probably our best opportunity at CL football next season.

Or we can do a Spurs (Arsenal last season), and try and concentrate on winning one game a week. Building a team from the bottom up, with a style of play, a winning mentality. Growing in strength and momentum.

Because right now, we are just punch drunk and reeling from heavy blows that we aren't prepared to take. And our opponents are waiting for us with glee.

Maybe it is better for us to take a step back from 3 games a week and try to walk before we can run.

We were excellent until the red and with ten men were excellent second half until AWB/Dalot/Varane fecked us over.

9 games lost in 17 matches this season and this is fecking Manchester United. For fecks sake this is dreadful, not good enough and i’m inches from giving up on this club.

Yeah, the red card changed the game but that’s not an excuse against a relatively mediocre FCK team. What is wrong with this club and how can it be fixed? Sorry, but i’m beyond words.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you won't be missed

When though? When the season is fully over? EL quarter finals? What is he even on about at this point. You make your own luck and we are so passive against teams we should be controlling and beating by 2 that one mistake or bad decision is the end of the tie. We need to do an awful lot better. ETH certainly needs to do a lot better and get more out of the likes of Rashford Antony and Mount. His subs were appalling tonight.

Often I feel our game intelligence is awful. 2-0 up away from home and another moment turns the game against us.

Don't think you can blame game intelligence for the red card. Rashford, like most people, isn't able to see through the back of his own head. Not really sure what Maguire is meant to do about the handball either. Maybe if he severed his own arm off the ball wouldn't have hit it? It wasn't even his worst handball in the area, in that half.

I also think we win that if Dalot bothers to check where his man is in the area. Most fullbacks the third and fourth goals are not even incidents because they would look where the man is and position themselves correctly.

Moat teams have moments in games where they lose the ball cheaply. We just get punished for it more where we follow it up with garbage like that which I'd less game management and more having a player/players who shrink into being a baby under the slightest hint of pressure.

Best opportunity is to some how stumble into 5th place and the expanded CL for next season means 5th place will be good enough to reach it.

What gets me is this season, every dumb error by our defence seems to almost always be punished. It's like you can see it a mile away. Even if they've been flawless the whole game.

AWB's hospital pass - check
Maguire doing a weird zombie double arm reach for a player, rather than tackling the ball - Check
Varane losing his nerve and making a poor clearance - Check

Against really good clinical teams, you get punished, but these days we're getting punished whoever we play

We barely look like a top half team, let alone 5th. I just don’t see it at all. We are an absolute mess of a team.

Most likely, besides Bayern, there will be two English group toppers and 4 Spanish ones + PSG/Dortmund/Milan. Our record against Spanish teams is 18-24-22 and a negative goal record.

Well, we were never going to win the CL, so in a way none of this matters. But it's the manner of losing that grates - as it did in our two previous defeats in this competition. Sloppiness punished, man down, hope built and dashed. For 20 minutes I thought were watching our best, controlled, tidy perfomance of the season. But......

Completely agree and team selection and in game management has been fecking shocking all season from ETH, he just does nothing or is fecking erratic and does the most mental thing possible.

This season we’ve had Lindelof at left back, Mount in a two in midfield, Fernandes wide right, McTominay as a 10 or as a defensive midfielder but the in game management and ability to clearly read what’s going on has been scarily horrific and not what I enjoyed about him before he came to United.

Hojlund as a focal point and out ball when we’re playing with 10 men was such a simple choice yet he moves Fernandes wide right when he’s awful there and it’s at a time when we need to keep the ball which Fernandes doesn’t do, I’d have pushed Hojlund out to wide right with Garnacho left and both cut inside.
Was a baffling decision. Even if he just wanted a fresher pair of legs upfront then bring on Martial.

I am actually proud of most of our players today, maybe I'll get slated for that.

Feck these fecking refs that ruin games. (We for sure got a gift too, but Rashford red is shite among other things)

I am done with Dalot though. He switches off too many times and causes us goals multiple ways from not hustling back to things like tonight.

It's a season of shite, I sadly thought tonight would be a fun interlude after the Bruno PK....

Infuriating game. Cruising, the most comfortable we've looked all season. Could have been a Hojlund hattrick after 30 minutes.

Then it all falls to shit after the red.

"It's My LIfe"....by Bon Jovi just popped into my head for the 1st time in 20 years after reading this. Not sure why....

Just as I predicted, we are a team devoid of cooperative play, unwillingness to run the extra yard for team mates. And most of all (worst), devoid of confidence.
Happy for Hojlund, hopefully this will give him a boost for the upcoming prem games.

I was able to watch the first half hour or so of the game, basically right up to Hojlund almost getting a hat trick & then had to run my own practice. Hop on here 2 hours later expecting to see us having bossed the game. Well..

I rarely say it this season but it was unlucky game...Also once in a blue moon that we play well, someone deceives to stink up the place deliberately, either ref or player or both

How the feck they scored 4 is beyond me...

There is currently no fit player at the club who is a better option than Dalot.

People look at Dalot as if he is a new recruit, no he isn't. Varane or Casemiro are.

Dalot couldn't even compete with Darmain and was loan out to learn how to defend. Everyone thought he did when he had a good time in Milan. Dalot is essentially a B graded winger and a B graded defender, B+ B doesn't make him a A player, although able to play on right and left make him useful, so a backup player at best.

Back to your question, with AWB finally return, so only need to wait for Shaw.

Seems bizarre that qualifying isn't an entirely implausible scenario and doesn't really require a "miracle" as some are saying.

Beat Galatasaray, which while a tough ask isn't entirely beyond the realms of possibility and assuming Bayern have enough to beat Copenhagen at home, that would leave us 2nd, 2 points ahead of Gala and Copenhagen both on 4 points.

Gala and Copenhagen draw their final game, our result V Bayern is irrelevant.
Copenhagen beat Gala and we draw with Bayern I believe we qualify on head to head having scored more away goals.

Beat Bayern and we'd be through.

Worth bearing in mind Bayern may well take their foot of the gas a bit

I applaud your never give up attitude, but its not going to happen, we are fecked and we deserve it.

We can beat Galatasaray if we start that game like tonight, however the bigger concern is how bothered will Bayern be about the game with Copenhagen now they are qualified

All well and good but I heard today that Gala have lost 1 out of 20 games at home in Europe or some such. I am not sure if the loss to Bayern is included in these numbers but I struggle to see our melts beating them.

We have a Turkish team their first away win in England in basically ever, so going there and reversing the result is a stretch, to say the least.

I have little to no criticism of the team tonight. I saw the reaction I wanted to see. We can’t be mad that we can’t beat 10 men for more than an hour away from home in the CL. The odds are always against us. This is on these appalling officials.

People are talking as if we lost to Prime Real Madrid , we were 2 - 0 on Copenhagen and even with 10 men any competent team see's that out for the win. Are we supposed to be proud that we gave Copenhagen a game.

We crumbled again like a cheap deck chair when the pressure came on.

This is not an isolated game , we are deservedly bottom of the group and deservedly out of the running already for top 4.

Utd Conceding 3 out of 4 goals from rubbish back post defending shouldn't be a surprise when Dalot and AWB are the fullbacks.

You should have known mate, haha. I gave myself 5 minutes of happiness after the Bruno pen then just knew it would go pear shaped. Season from Hades.

I'd take 75% of Darmian over Dalot right now.

Dalot - All he has to do on both the third and fourth (if you watch it back) goals, is, at any point, look around him to see where the opposition player is, and he doesn't even try to do this, on either occasion, despite having more than enough time to defensively set himself, and it being a basic common sense thing to do when defending your own penalty area. We already lost at home to Galatasaray because he literally just stood next to someone and let them (very VERY slowly) score when we were controlling the game. For 50K a week I don't think turning your head slightly in order to do your job is actually very much to ask. He is, frankly, the dumbest player I have ever watched, and I've watched Renato Sanchez try to pass to an advertising board and Balotelli fail to work out how to put a shirt on.

The officials - Anyone else remember in the first minute when McTominay passed the ball to Maguire's hand for some reason in our area, and then it hit Maguire on the hand very blatantly, and then the ref and VAR didn't have a problem with this? Who is watching football and still being able to take it seriously at this point?

McTominay - Why did he randomly decide to calmly pass the ball to Maguire's hand in the penalty area?

I actually thought we played well so I'm not going to be too critical outside of Dalot who's relentless stupidity I have tired of. There were some mistakes towards then end but the biggest influence on the scoreline was the referee

We can criticise the team for previous performances but as a standalone game, what can you say. I don't think the team deserved to lose. Anyway if we were talking about red cards, didn't Rasmus get elbowed deliberately in the face by a Copenhagen player on a yellow? That was unfair.
