Good point, but why are our 1st halves so insanely bad?

No idea, when Amorim was newly appointed and we were starting great, he was asked if he instructed them to do that, and he said no that was on the players. So I am assuming that this is the still the same, and still down to the players.

Horrific for 65 mins, then some decent subs, a bit of a shape change and some tempo in the game.

Can't believe VAR didn't give that with the 2 pulls but will take it.

Amorin can't start with that many defensive players again, it makes it too easy for the opposition.

Other than that it was theatrics which may have swung the decision our way. Were they evening things out after Maguire's previous shout for a pull on his shirt in the box was dismissed?

However, any shirt pulling should be an automatic foul and yellow card. If there is zero tolerance to it then there are no grey areas and therefore it will also stop happening pretty quickly.

Very promising performance from Dorgu. Hope he keeps it going.

Tbh I'm very impressed by the var call.
There was a slight shirt pull but never enough to make Young do a swanton bomb. The ref gave it then because of the crowd reaction.
9/10 var bottle it and go with the onfield decision but they rightfully recommended a review and the ref saw sense.

We still look woeful for the most part but the J Henderson mistake on the free kick gave us momentum.
Big point.

He definitely hasn't but given that both Maguire and De Ligt had his arms and hands involved, I'd say we were quite lucky that it has been reviewed. From my perception so many pens like that get given.

I think, Everton would have deserved the win given that we didn't really offer anything of note for most of the game. Then it slipped away from Everton it got frantic. 2-2 is fair at the end. But the takeaway from this game has to be that this team has to do sooooooo much better. Starting by finally adding more intensity.

That’s like saying, Everton defence had hands on Maguire twice and neither were (correctly) called as a pen

So, was this a promising and impressive hard fought comeback or was it just fortunate and Everton self destructed ?
Once we got the first, it was like a switch got flipped and we started giving a shit. I don’t think Everton did a lot wrong.

Without fail (almost) the oppo team looks better prepared and plays with more energi when the game starts. This has been an issue under several managers. I don't get how no one is able to turn it around, and especially at Old Trafford.

Onana is a professional keeper and somehow doesn't know how to pinch a ball away from danger

Zirkzee is such an odd player, zero intent or desire to impact a game, just stupid layoffs.

We can't have both De Ligt and Maguire

Our players kept crying for ghost pens

Great to get a draw at least, it would have been horrible to lose this

We have weak minded players

With Amad out, Garnacho has to play. Teams have to respect that we can hurt them on the counter
Nothing was happening at the wings without Amad or Garnacho. Although Dorgu played well, he is not an attacking threat.

Not a penalty. Not a handball before that.

I started watching in the 60th and we were comfortably the better team, were we just crap in the first half?
Possibly one of the worst performances I've seen us play in that first hour and you'll appreciate that's up against some stiff opposition these days. I think we had an xg of 0.04 , didn't work the keeper, midfield was outfought, attack was shite and the defence was calamitous.

We start games so badly and then wait for something to spark us into life time and time again. Belief and energy comes into the team when something goes our way after and hour or so of utter dross and then we start to go for it. Happened time and again under EtH last season and it's still there.

Still early days but Dorgu might actually be our left back for the long term. Impressed by this young man, who has been thrown into an absolute shite storm mid-season.

We always start the first half too cautiously. So scared of making mistakes, passing backwards and sideways, rarely going forward.

And it seems the more cautious thr players are, the more nervous and more mistakes they make.

A bit of both I think.
Yeah, a bit of both.

It was a hard fought comeback, though not so sure about the 'promising' thing, really. It was just more of the usual - lacking in effort and work rate until finally giving it a go late on when behind. And another game with no first half goals or shots on target.

There's just no excuse for our poor first half record, or continually being second best when it comes to work rate, tempo, commitment, etc - until the players finally up the tempo and effort late on and we immediately look so much better and more threatening.

We need to play with that effort and commitment for whole matches, and start games better and actually offer some attacking threat, and get some goals, in the first half of games. It's ludicrous just how resigned I am to expecting it to be Man United 0 at HT!

A lucky point due to Pickford playing as poorly as Onana, Maguire and de Ligt at the back. We got a reward for getting a couple of shots on target which we struggled to do before the 72nd minute. Bruno's freekick was our first shot on target.... 12 mins more than an hour without one...

Dorgu was decent and we played much better with Garnacho and Obi coming on. Mainly due to Garnacho and Dorgu both able to run the ball down the left while Zirkzee wandered over towards them and our right hand side severely lacking anyone to put the ball into the box with Ugarte often ending up right wing with the ball due to the poor organization.

Urgency, Desire, Effort. The intangibles which so many of these players lack. Today the biggest culprits were Casemiro, Rasmus and Zirkzee.
that's true, and throw in a lack of athleticism, pace and confidence. And yet in the second half there was some fight and hope.

The way it's been going lately, that feels like a big pt.We really need to start games better it's been going on since the Ole days.

Dorgu was very good and Bruno second half, but Onana needs replacing in the summer he's too much of a liability for me.

I will keep saying it because it's obvious every game, these players are atrocious at the most basic requirements of professional PL footballers.

The goals we concede are pathetic at any level but at PL level it's just laughable. I mean watching maguire literally watch the ball fall to the ground while Dacoure heads it in is the very definition of moronic.

I'm afraid no tactician in the world will get these players to play cohesively they are just that bad and lack any sense of responsibility. Not saying Amorim is blame free but I am putting our current malaise squarely on the players.

Get a better rwb as well. Dalot was bad playing left and now he’s as bad playing right. Very lucky today to end up with a point

I'll take the point. While the complete comeback would have been great, that last min pen decision going our way is compensation. We all knew Young was prone to over-diving in the box, just glad VAR intervened as conceding then would have left a bad taste. I have to keep faith in Amorin but I'm losing it in Onana. A friend asked me why we let de Gea go and I sort of mumbled that the was probably too pricey and too unreliable on crosses or when pressured but....

No strikers means no chance.

With no goal threat, any team can push up and overrun us.

Once we gave their defence something to actually defend against, with garnacho and later the young lad, we were able to hold the ball further up the pitch.

Overall, in most seasons this team is bad enough to get us relegated. But I can't see any of the bottom 3 getting enough points to catch us. Which is good, because I think we will be lucky to add 8 or 10 points between now and the end.

Maguire was trying to solve the complex equation on the trajectory of the ball in the air which would help him decide how to head it and with how much strength. Of course he was disrupted by Dacoure while working it all out.

Happens to even the best. Class is permanent, form is not.

Dorgu was good amongst a pile of dross first half. Bruno had more influence from deeper second half which might not be his best position but hey ho. Garnacho added pace and got the fight going a bit. Obi made the mistake of thinking if he held the no9 position he'd get the ball. It would be much cheaper to let the goalkeeping coach hold down the make up the numbers role, than pay Casemiro.

I'm not having it that you're a United fan. You've posted a lot of negative stuff about the manager, wanting him fired if we lost today and are now arguing a blatant dive is a penalty.
His username should tell you enough

The decision making from our attacking players is poor at times. Constantly misplaced or mistimed passes. Zirkzee has potential but his brain turns off at times.

Same old tale of two halves. I’m not too worried about PL form as all our eggs are in the EL basket, but it is frustrating to watch poor play, match after match.

Any away fan of United's at the game should get 60% of their ticket price back, we only really started playing after the first hour or so.
We had some 'moments' in the first half, (that means we had some control of the ball for a wee while), but the lack of energy and level of nervousness was obvious. Everton ran riot and looked like they were enjoying themselves, as they were coasting and could have 4 up at halftime.

Second half after Ruben made his changes and Bruno's fantastic free kick rattled home, then it was like watching a different game.

*Ashley deserved a judges score of 2 for technique and a score of 6 for Artistic design, for his last minute 'belly-flop' in the area... but never a penalty.

I am not saying it was a wrong decision on the penalty. But they have been given. Maguire is known for pulling shirts as well while on the other hand he is pretty physical to assume not every "hand on" him would lead to him falling to the ground. I think, we were pretty lucky with it. Both ways the decision would get questioned

We are so slow on the ball and especially to move the ball forward it’s back and over too much of the time (Maguire and De Ligt been a big part of the problem)

A positive point with where we are this season, especially with how we played for the first 60-70 mins. Was absolutely woeful.

Onwards and upwards.
