I’m not surprised that the pen was chalked off, Young dived like I did in school in the 80’s when I was attempting breakdancing to impress the school sweetheart.. ( it didn’t work then either )

I think the Young penalty was on the fringes of being a foul from de Ligt's shirt holding from behind and Maguire's hand on his hip. It certainly wasnt a clear foul but maybe

However Young did what we call in wrestling training a front bump. He threw himself to the floor trying to cause impact and make it look like he was sent down. A clear and obvious dive that couldnt be rewarded, but if he hadnt done it he might have got lucky and been given a soft penalty

Bruno done well to grab the goal and pull us back into the game, but in general play he really has to tighten up his passing. Gave the ball away in dodgy areas muliple times again today resulting in easy breaks for Everton to latch on to, which late on could've easily led to them winning it before Youngs dive.

Once we got the first, it was like a switch got flipped and we started giving a shit. I don’t think Everton did a lot wrong.
Its very refreshing that our players seem to have discovered a bit of pride, albeit it seems we have to be losing first, but at least theyre trying, that in itself is a huge step in the right direction. Now all we need is more consistency, more quality and more goals!

Did I just see the manager of Manchester United say, "We just need to get this season over with so we can look ahead again"? He won’t get a job as a motivational speaker after he gets fired.

The way we improved in the last 20 after the changes should make it obvious we need at least one top passing midfielder. Bruno finally started us ticking but overall he is too erratic in possession to really get us controlling most games but he's the best option we have atm in midfield. Ugarte is solid and a battler but not a dictator.

The problem of course is we don't have the money to sign 6 players including that midfielder.

Not had chance to read up on everything but anyone else think Young was a narky prick today? Always leaving his foot in and being a complete twat.

We stole a point, the team was awful in the first half. Let’s get the kids on, Bruno was brutal in the first half, much better in the second.

We need improve in so many areas.

I'm not having it that you're a United fan. You've posted a lot of negative stuff about the manager, wanting him fired if we lost today and are now arguing a blatant dive is a penalty.
Literally 90 pc of posts today have been negative. Why are you singling me out?

Yeah. I agree with this. If he doesn't over dramatise it then I think it doesn't get overturned and it's a penalty.

Think it's one of those that if your team is getting the pen you say it's a pen and if not then it's not a pen.

A valuable point. Ash Young can feck off, he felt a hand on his back and threw himself to the floor. Chido impressive few touches. Garnacho causes panic in defenders. We move.
His left leg was behind Maguires right leg and there was contact, but Young brought his his left leg forward then took a dive, it wasn't the shirt pulling, it was leg contact. Correct decision.

Great comeback, but what bothered me towards the end there was all the possession we had in their final third just passing the ball around instead of getting it into the box.

Fecking Garnacho still doing the same shite! So fecking predictable.

You live and die by Bruno, got us back in the game, then almost gave it away with that horrid back pass.

BTW, Maguire can feck back off again.

Weve got no senior attacking players to sub on apart from Garnacho for the rest of the season.

Why hes on the bench I'll never know. Since he is the only player that actually makes things happen in the front 3rd.

We scored two goals from set-pieces... Trying to remember when was the last time that happened. Trying to see positive in the gloom and doom

Pissed off. Threw that game away when we were in total control.

But yeah, you should have had this game won in the first half….

He used to dive a lot when he played for us too.
Ermm by using the word ‘us’ I’m not sure who you think I support? Unless you’re a Villa fan , I’m a dyed in the wool United fan since the late 70’s…or have I drank too much Port and everything is kinda fuzzy and I’ve got to get my eyes tested.

I was about to ask you. I don't think it's a pen going either way to be quite honest, I'm sure Maguire got tugged in the Everton box at one point. If that's a foul there's going to be 10 pens a game on every corner. However, Maguire and de Ligt were playing with fire, Young was always gonna go down the second he felt contact, he did it enough for us, and I'm surprised it was overturned, given the state of refereeing so far this season.

If Young doesn't exaggerate as much, and dives more realistically, he probably gets the pen, but as it stands he should have got a yellow. Ridiculous theatrics and embarrassing.

Penalty decision aside, we were insanely lucky to escape this game with a draw. We really are playing bottom of the barrel football at the minute and need to sort ourselves out. Sad state of affairs but it honestly looks like a good point given that our current form looks relegation level, and I still don't feel confident that 30 points is enough, with our injuries, morale and tactical teething trouble. Absolutely shambolic first half.

That's fair. I'm not too fussed either way. We should have put the game to bed before you scored at all or needed a penalty to bail us out in terms of the win. That's where my annoyance is today!

5th and final time at Goodison today, old school stadium but lower tier is a nightmare trying to find a space to stand and see the game, will be missed though. The smell of stale Carling as you leave is beautiful.

1st half again, like we are playing a friendly and have no interest in playing any tempo. Some of the play was u10 like.

2nd half showed they can step it up. Really wish we would play 433 with this squad, would make a world of difference till we get these players in to fit this new system.

The penalty decision is quite clear to me ... Young was falling and in danger of injuring himself. Maguire and de Ligt were trying to stop that accident happening. No penalty.

As for Maguire - play him at centre forward like Oldham did with Ian Marshall and then Paul Warhurst in the early 90s.

Watched only the second half live and couldn't understand why we were struggling with two goals down, especially after Garnacho came on.

Then saw the highlights for the two goals. Maguire and Onana bring out the absolute worst of each other at times, don't they? I know it helped us financially and that he's good in some games, but Maguire is simply too inconsistent, limited, chaotic, clumsy and error prone to be a starting center back for any PL team that struggles to score goals. It's a self imposed handicap.

Only got to visit Goodison once in the away section. Glad I got to do it, great old school ground.

Because you spent most of the week in the Amorim thread saying he should be fired if he lost today, and then followed it up by claiming a clear dive is a penalty.

Your username is bizarre because it is a common jibe used to insult united fans, and, lastly, you didn't even deny what I've accused you of.

We tolerate rival fans on here, but you need to be honest about who you really support.

I personally thought that Obi looked out of his depth and why he hasn’t featured a lot for the first team.
The kids aren’t always the answer especially in a non-functioning team.

Yeah, the truth is that 2-nil Everton would have been a fair result, overall. It's a sad state of affairs but I'm actually ecstatic with a point here, I still harbour some genuine fears that -this- iteration of Manchester United could still get relegated, and unlikelier things have happened. A loss here, and with Ipswich, Arsenal and Leicester to play us, if we'd continued to lose games to 'relegation rivals' and get expectedly beaten by Arsenal then it would be a scary run in to May. As things stand, I simply hope we get enough points to mathematically be safe from relegation so we can start blooding some youth players and forget this entire debacle.

Think I agree with this. His theatrics went against him

I think it's pretty much done now despite having those fears myself. When Moyes joined us we were only a point above the relegation zone and we are now 14. We have leaped up the table while the bottom 3 have only gained around a point each in that time.
