Excellent opening 35. Team pressed with cohesion. We pushed them back towards their goal. We understandably tired towards the end of the first half and during the opening exchanges of the second.

Thought Fred, Lindelof and Dalot were excellent. Thought Rashford and Mctom were terrible.

Hopefully Ralf has seen more today and as each games passes we can be nearer to where we want to be.

I'm excited by Rangnick's ideas but come on, this wasn't a 'great game' by us. Second half was a shitfest from us.

Anyway, we looked more solid throughout and played good football for 30 minutes so that's a start.

I liked the 1st half, despite not creating big chances. 2nd half was not as good, we didn't control the game as much and if it wasn't for Fred's great shot then it would have probably finished 0-0. But clean sheet is a positive thing anyways, our 4th clean sheet this season (Wolves, Tottenham, Villarreal) and 1st clean sheat at home since April.

Big 3 points and a clean sheet so it's positive for a start.

We weren’t great, bar the opening 25 mins… but we were actually in control of the game for once and didn’t give away about 7 comical chances. When the two things come together and we can press for longer without everyone dying, it might be pretty good.

Delighted. The pressing was night and day. Probably the best result too with the clean sheet included and defended better at set pieces.

Rashford & McTominay we’re the weak links today.
Thought Rashford should have gone off earlier instead of Sancho.
Ronaldo faded badly towards the end. That’s when Cavani would be useful to bring on.
Promising times, a win is a win.

Can't expect miracles after one day training but you could see a couple of the core ideals had been worked on and in combination with the new manager bounce and extra effort in the first half we looked good. Everything became a lot more ragged in the second half and we invited a fair bit of pressure at the end so I'm glad we could hold on.

You would expect that as the players become more accomplished and comfortable with what's being asked of the them they'll become more efficient and we won't fade as badly, looking forward to watching the evolution even if it might be a bit rocky at times.

The most important thing the new boss needs to do is to instill some confidence back into the side as we've been so passive and fragile all season.

Clean sheet wins are solid gold for us at the moment. It's a great result

Most important thing is the 3 points.

Performance wise we just need to have better decision making... mainly when to pass instead of keeping hold of the ball too long and then losing possession.

Clean sheet, control, assuredness, Fred goal, elanga on, dvb for Bruno...what's not to like

Did you see Ronaldo sprinting into lb in the last minute to cover?

That's exactly what you want from him.

Yeah he was trying really hard. But it was affecting his attacking game I thought.

Really liked the control we had overall. Not happy that we didn't create enough in 2nd half but somewhat expected with new style of play and probably tiring effect it had. Of course need to get goals early and make that dominant play count else we often get punished from that chance Ayew had.

It's these kind of games where we don't perform and end up losing. Palace has been a thorn for years ,at home.

It was a brilliant 3 points.
It was nice not to go behind in one of these games too, which so often was the way under Ole. Good start and early intensity was promising too, even if we created very little. Still very sloppy in possession though, but early days.

That first 35 minutes was very tasty. Sign of things to come.

Drop McT and Rashford.

Almost exactly what I was going to write. Rashford and McT do not think and act quickly enough and I thought were passengers for the most part. High press means winning the ball early and executing quick passes to take advantage of the turnover. McT's first thought is pass backward because he doesn't see things quickly enough. Rashford wants the ball and dribble and then think what he should do.

I was surprised Sancho came off first and not Rashford. I'm excited when Sancho gets the ball with room, not excited when Rashford gets it.

Brilliant first 35mins. Pressed and created plenty of half openings without working thier keeper. Need to create more generally. Second half was frustrating. Poor final balls and bad decision making everywhere esp from sancho and bruno. Fred was excellent the whole game. Mctom was a slight improvement. Full backs were good.

We are really shite from corners. I never expect us to do anything from a corner. We've been terrible for years. It's an area we really should be very good in considering the players we have.

Good performance, fantastic result and extremely happy for Fred. Never thought he'd score that off his weak foot, remarkable strike. Dalot was good again, defense as a whole was decent except for that Ayew chance. Ronaldo sprinting back to cover for Telles at the 94th was good to see.

As for the performance, lots to get excited for, lots to work on as well. Great first half but we were falling into our old patterns in the second. It's clear to see that we need major work on our stamina levels and some of our sloppy passes still need to be iron out. The most encouraging thing is we tried to keep the tempo high when we could. No one can say that we weren't in control of that game overall and that's what I want.

Good start for the Rangnick era, may it continue on to better things.

All of our forwards played bad today, frustrating to watch. Really happy with the pressing and energy though, a breath of fresh air.

Same players, different approach, good response. Fitness will be an issue all season, need to be patient as that won't change overnight.

Fred, Lindelof and Dalot were great. Kudos.

People need to stop making assumptions about coaches, favourites and whatnot. You know nothing, stop rioting over opinions based on the square root of feck all.

Decent performance from us and much deserved 3 points!
We tried to be a bit more positive and pushed players further forward than usual. We played the ball forward a lot quicker than usual and our forwards got involved more.
Our options for central midfield are just not good enough, as usual.

11 points off the top now. Clawed back 1 point. Title is ON

I'll take that. First game, first win. Played some really nice stuff in the first half and were really impressive. Definitely dropped off a bit into the second, despite getting the goal then. Still I was happy with what I saw and satisfied we can build on that.

As I mentioned earlier, we just need to get through December with as many wins as possible considering the games. Real training ground work won't be possible until after this so I won't be expected a massive revolution in playing style.

An extremely rare clean sheet was also more than welcome.

That first half was a joy to watch, just missing a goal. Played high, pressed, Fred outstanding yet again.
We’ll need a midfielder in January 100%
A good week of training with the squad players getting a chance to impress against Young Boys and we’ll look better again at Norwich
