Delighted with the win with the added bonus of a clean sheet. Palace good run in Old Trafford put to end however that was a fine margin win as Palace may have got another result in Old Trafford if ayew didn't miss that sitter on 75 minutes and it took a bit of Brazilian magic from Fred to win it.

The players responded, they couldnt keep it up.. this is pleasing and encouraging for the rest of the season. great to see Elanga on

Clean sheet at home! Hard fought win - very satisfying considering the lack of preparation for the new manager......

How did we play after we scored? Did we continue to dominate possession or did we sit back?

We withdrew a bit and looked to hit on the counter, not surprising considering the team was gassed from the first half and the goal came late.

but not 11 men behind the ball, concede all possession, last ditch defending type play. Kept the press on when they got near our third.

For me it was exactly the kind of performance you want to see as a building block of where we want to go. Controlled the match from the beginning, created chances we should of finished early on but had a clear game plan. We pressed as a team very successfully. Everyone put a shift in. Very happy with that.

Would have preferred more goals but a clean sheet and a win is good. Some very good football, it's not going to be an instant process but improvement is already there. Players are showing desire to play.

Dalot deserves a run in the side now. Been impressive in the last couple of games and offers a lot more than AWB going forward and less messing about defensively.

Clean sheet
I almost forgot what it feels like, not conceding at home.

Pretty poor second half performance though, albeit with a sensational goal.

Not sure I'm a fan of this quasi-wide position for Bruno.

Oh and another good game by Dalot too! There's a footballer there.

Wow. A real manager makes a helluva difference! Clean sheet was the big bonus today. Still miles to go to get the levels of fitness required for 90 mins. Ronaldo quite sloppy and casual towards the end. Steps in the right direction today.

We never lost control of that match for a minute. So good. I'm delighted.

I don't understand how we can have so many quality players in attack and barely create any chances.

On the plus side our off the ball work looked much better already, didn't allow them many counters and won the ball back much quicker.

Still so many basic errors made in possession, and struggling to break down a low block is a familiar story.

Especially in the first 30 minutes we saw already quite a lot of what is to come - much more intensity, forward passing, players trying to win the ball back immediately, not dither on the ball and make quicker decisions. Signs are promising, hope we can build on that and sustain this for longer periods in the future.

And let us not forget that Palace are no mugs, we lost the last 2 games at OT against them.

I said this in matchday thread but feck you Zaha. Whinny asshole

Functional win against a poor Palace side happy to sit back. Hard to learn too much from that, but a win and a clean sheet is a solid start.

Very encouraging overall. First half we where all over them.
Our final touches and decisionmaking in the final third needs work.
Second half was much worse, but that was predictable. Our players need to get their fitness levels up after several years of Ole-ball.
Also Crystal Palace moved their line up and tried where successfull in getting many game interruptions which ruined our momentum.
Well deserved win for us though overall.

Dalot, Lindelöf and Sancho in the first half looked like players transformed. They are clearly well suited for this setup.

Overall a very positive first game.

3 points and a clean sheet.

The first half was very entertaining and we pressed better than I have ever seen us doing. The second half was not that great.

Happy with the win and the points, the performances will improve. We should not have expected magic after a single training.

I am just ecstatic to see us press properly. And I thought this was proper pressing not chasing like crazy. I felt they were leaving some players on the ball alone and setting traps.

De Gea - Nothing to do really.

Dalot - Good, handled Zaha far better than I thought he would.

Maguire - Solid

Lindelof - Solid

Telles - Solid. Kissing the ball does feck all for his set piece prowess.

McTominay - Hopeless.

Fred - MOTM.

Bruno - A fecking disgrace. I hope Rangnick drops him. Obviously the Villarreal game didn't work.

Rashford - Doesn't even look like a footballer anymore.

Sancho - Useless.

Ronaldo - Was a complete liability in the second half with his inability to keep the ball.

We were blessed to win that with a front four performing as shit as they did.

First half was great, players fitness meant we looked gassed by 75th min. But was more impressed with the control of game we had. Once RR gets to work on the team fitness and passing in the final third, I can see goid things happening.

A whole clean sheet to reward the defensive hard work but still lots of room for improvement there!

The good: Fred. Players stepping in and winning the ball in our own half. A clean sheet.

The bad: Lots of sloppy passing. Everyone ending up gassed. Rashford's form.

The ugly: that shot from Greenwood.

It's these kind of games where we don't perform and end up losing. Palace has been a thorn for years ,at home.

It was a brilliant 3 points.

Clean sheet after a long time. Defensively still shakey. McT is the weakest link in the system.

Fred has tremendous game. MOTM.

Three points, a reasonable performance against a determined Palace team. Better when Varane gets back. Dalot had a good game as did Telles. Ronaldo was quite.

Good first half, second was poor.
3pts and clean sheet.

Players wise, dunno whats going on with Rashford and McT, Rashford looks out of it and McT plays like he suffers from PTSD when it comes to forward passing, most went in line with him which is dangerous or back, also that one moment when ball is in the air in front of our box was such a weird positioning.

Where are the Maguire haters today? Captain's performance.

Positive start, think players were knackered 2nd half. First half was very good and just lacked a goal.

Negatives for me..

Sancho should have stayed on and Rashford off

Day and night difference between the shit Ole was serving up and what Ralf gave us today. Massive room for improvement of course, but we not got the win…we deserved it.

Much to discuss in the player performance threads.

Just a point his choice of bringing on Elantra at 0-0 with only 15 minutes to go was the sign of someone who walks the walk and not someone who just talks it unlike the previous manager who’d never do that.

Because most of them are only good in a counter attack. I miss players who are good vs a low block.

Am also very excited for Mejbri and Amad. I feel they will get a fair chance now.

I wouldn't be so dismissive of Palace. They're one of our trickiest fixtures. Beat City, too.

It's was poor but it's the result that matters for us right now. We absolutely must buy a CM in January.
