Palace were very good.
Ole would have lost to them.

Players are obviously adapting to Rangnick's system.
But we will see quick improvements.
We have the best squad in the league.
Just needs one CM player in January and the squad would be complete.

We will get stronger with every game.

Dont know what we did in first 3 months, our fitness levels are piss poor.It was clearly visible after 30 mins

Hopefully it will improve soon and with some rotation we should win most of the december games

I guess we can ignore about YB game and focus on drilling this high tempo game for next few days + we get another week off between 18th and 27th, so these 2 weeks are very crucial for Ralf to get his ideas around.

Really good first half where we couldn’t score; poor second half but we scored.

Happy with the win; felt we deserved it based on the first half.

Fred was immense; would have been my motm even if he didn’t score. He was everywhere. Would love to see his interception and pressing stats. The guy has amazing heart and stamina.

Telles played well, and Dalot was great - never rated the guy but hope he continues and keeps AWB out the team. Brilliant dribbling for Fred’s goal.

Bruno wasn’t classic Bruno - but not sure why there’s negativity thrown towards him. Things didn’t always come off, yes - but he was everywhere and always tried to make things happen.

McTominay has deserved criticism - and Rashford i felt was awful. Passing in general was quicker, crisper, and generally accurate - until it went to him; where he’d always have his head down and try to beat his man.

Happy for Mason to get an assist - made a perfect pass at the right time - looked good for a goal at the end too but it just didn’t happen.

Tactical, city like fouling was something that was missing- and I saw twice today. Happy with that.

We actually play like a team. Controlled the game from start to finish.

Press as a unit, defend were solid, lots of excellent off the ball movement and most importantly we have a progressive style of play to develop on.

This is only after 1 training session. The future suddenly looks promising.

Damn. I am so used to seeing negative records broken, I don't actually know how to react to a positive record, like this.
During his interview, Ralf did state that we need to gain more control of the game and not concede and that's what we seemed to try to do.

It was far from good.
Er, it was pretty bloody good - especially that first half. It tailed off in the second, but we've had three different managers in charge in the space of 10 or so days. Palace barely had a sniff (that Ayew chance from a corner was guilt-edged, though) and it's the first cleansheet we've kept in 15 games or something? What more did you want!

Fred was great today. Seems like Rashford, McTominay and Bruno need to pull their socks up. They did not have a great game today. Would love to see more of Dalot and Telles. Greenwood needs to improve his decision making skills.

We had a good start with Rangnik. The change in attitude in the players was evident, and it made the crucial difference. first 25 minutes were sublime, the best United played this season. Second half they became a little sloppy, but that,s understandable.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

That was just brilliant. A breath of fresh air.

A team playing for the collective group. No hiding place for those unfit and no first touch

Yes, those one touch first half passes were brilliant. After this win players will be in good mood and they train well in next coming days listening to Ralf's ideas..

Looks like Elanga/Amad/Hannibal might get some good chances in this season.

Sure but as a first game in this system he did really well for me. I believe everyone was gassed in the second half. But in the first he was great. Also he absolutely pressed the whole game.

True that. You have to ask yourself how much fitter he can get though given what he's already done.

It wasn’t bad for Ralf’s first game, considering there was so little training time. I liked the shape of the team and I liked the intent of the team, there was more energy, more aggression, more balls in behind and it was refreshing to see a 4222 used which I think suits some of our players. We didn’t quite have the cutting edge today, we sometimes made the wrong decision in the final third, or we rushed it when we didn’t need to, so plenty to work on. Very happy with the defensive efforts of the team, Lindelof and Dalot were great, they only had one big chance.

Palace were very good.
Ole would have lost to them.

I think so, too.
Under Ole we seemed to be setting up every match as the underdog and after a few minutes when our opponents saw this, they went for the jugular and put us to the sword.

We had 0.89xg at home to Palace.

The first was good in terms of dominance but we really lacked any sort of cutting edge.

I’m encouraged by a lot of things but let’s not get carried away and say that was good as if Fred’s right foot sending one into the top corner is sustainable.

Decent first game from Rangnick. Slightly concerned about his decision to keep a diabolical Rashford on for so long while taking Sancho off. Also concerned we may see a similar situation with the favourites in Mctomminay and Maguire being undroppable even when playing poorly. Based on that, I am Rangnick out and I want him gone ASAP.

Game control is much better than ever. There were still wild or silly passes but it needs time to iron out bad habit.

What's wrong with Rashford? He should be off first instead of Sancho who played much better.

I really want to see Fred in Park Ji Sung's role, if ever we get 2 good CMs.

Was pretty much flawless today when he came on. Why peddle the same BS myths.

Ralf forgot to tell the lads to have fun. Would have scored 4 more then, easy peasy

A lot to be happy about. Lacking composure in the attacking third, should've had more chances then we ended up having, 2nd half descended into a scrappy affair but we were far more organized both defensively and in our pressing. On the ball we just looked more intent on passing it quickly, even if sometimes they were sloppy. Clearly instructed not to avoid passes just because a player was under pressure, and it had an instant impact.

Thought Sancho was our best player in the front 4, Fred MotM, Dalot very good as well. A lot of improvement to be had, but encouraging signs.

Some really promising moments, dalot really good again, super Fred doing super Fred things, rashford and Bruno poor.

What are you on about? We pressed high the whole game and controlled possession like we never did under Ole. We didn't fluke the win we were clearly the better team we just lacked that final quality.
We didnt press high the whole game at all. We pressed good in the first 35, then it was all Ole ball for the remaining match. We didnt even create a good chance for the whole match. It was a lucky goal from Fred where he probably scores 1/20 times or even worse that separated the teams.. Palace was also unlucky not to score in the second half as well.

Overall if we can somehow play like we did the first 35 minutes in 90 minutes the future is bright. Can we expect it though in the middle of the season, or will Ragnick have to make some adjustment here on his prefered way of playing ? He said himself that its impossible to raise the fitness levels at this moment in the season so im not sure.

That was an encouraging watch and an extremely difficult one all in the same breath.

The biggest thing to sort out was the defensive organisation and it was night and day to what it was under Ole. Indeed outside of a couple of moments against Arsenal it has generally looked quite good.

Going forward will take care of itself, the talent is there but we need to have a solid base to work from and that involves getting us defending as an entire unit first.

We did well but typically that is to be expected when a new manager comes in. Players are more eager to perform. I did love the early pressing we showed, but it was not sustainable over the entire game. I can definitely see a difference between Ralph and Ole at the moment and the difference looks positive. It seem we are also passing with more meaning and we are more intense. Positive first start so far.

Good energy at the beginning. Then going back to our old where options are fewer and far between. Lindelof my man of the match. Broke up a lot of play moving between the lines. That 75 sitter for palace got us out of jail.

Great first half, tired second. Got the win. Very happy with the early signs. That was our first game, he'll have done barely anything with them so far.

I'm excited for what's to come, it won't be smooth sailing, but it'll be a hell of a lot more interesting than what we're used to.

Just about a deserved home win. The first half was probably our best half in the PL this season. We camped in Palace’s half, but just lacked the creation of clear cut chances.

Second half we lacked a little bit of game intelligence. We first needed to asset our control of the game, whereas we came out fretting about immediately scoring a goal and lacked the control we saw first half.

Thought Dalot was probably my MotM watching it live. He was very proactive and aggressive, typifying everything you’d expect from a Rangnick side.

First clean sheet in front of the home fans since that McTominay goal in the 2-0 against City PRE-PANDEMIC.

Looking forward to the CL game midweek, which is a good opportunity for the manager to experiment and further get the players used to his footballing principles.

Rangnick made a point of mentioning the defence and leaking goals so no surprise he's working on that first.

It's gradual but very promising.

Not sure how some can't be optimistic.

Had it been anyone other than Vieira I would have felt sorry for the fecker who expected to play a completely different game.

It's also what he did first when he stepped in for Hasenhüttl at Leipzig.

The first half was some of the most enjoyable football we’ve played in ages in my opinion. I really enjoyed it. looked like Palace were going to get a hiding but eventually the energy started to fade and it became a bit more of a struggle.

It’s weird how many people are glossing over the reason for us being unable to keep up the pace we set in the first half hour. We played a tough game on Thursday night. With the exact same line-up. No wonder we were leggy. Ralf needs to get to know the squad (which will take time) and start to rotate a bit more. Poor use of the squad was one of Ole’s biggest failings. Hopefully Ralf will do better because we need to share the load better than we are.
