Post-match discussion

Masterclass from Jose. Rashford up top did himself, the manager and the club proud. Darmian also deserves a mention as he was solid as a rock today. Looked far more confident and assured and didn't give the Chelsea players an inch all game. Well done lad.

I literally had tears in my eyes when we scored the second, that meant so much for me and am sure, for us. Wanted 4-0 but this performance was better than Chelsea's when they beat us.

On a neutral ground, am sure we ll beat them again. Our support is great.

Btw Herrera has been outstanding all season, bargain maybe? Or too early to say?

What a brilliant performance by the team. Buzzing. Regardless of form, we haven't had such a dominant game against Chelsea in years.

This feels like a watershed moment for Jose's Manchester United

Finally, we showed great movement, fluidity, grit and determination. If we'd play like that in every game, we'd be so much higher up! Hope that is the way forward for the rest of the season

Fantastic display, makes me hate the dropped points even more but with being only -5 in goal difference behind Liverpool it gives us hope that we can catch them.

That city game is so huge unfortunately

Herrea was always class even when that idiot van Gaal did not play him. and some wanted Herrera gone.

Mourinho will tie him to a long contract. no worries.

Oooh we got almost everything right. Just shut down the champions to be. May mean nothing much in Chelsea's overall league performance, but a good dent to the Chelsea juggernaut.

Right tactic again against Chelsea, even if we lose or draw. Chelsea nullified check. We're becoming proper Mourinho team. Glimpse of our future domination. Tactical masterclass, Jose laid it all out today on how to combat Chelsea which other teams would imitate I'm sure. Chelsea will find it tough this end season and next with the same formation and tactic.

The boss, woah Mourinho is gutsy in dropping the superstars especially Zlatan. Surprising. Unexpected. Chelsea too is surprised I guess. Mourinho outwitted everyone today. Today's game is also a message that Mourinho is the right manager, players and the board members should trust and follow him if they want Manchester United back to be champion.

Great gamble too imo, for trusting Rashford and Lingard to lead the line. It's always better to gamble on the hardworking fighters, because they will for sure deliver in efforts, rather than the sulky superstars.

Bailly-Rojo combo  nice to see they bully Costa today. Yup, if Rojo is not our player, we'll hate him for sure haha and Bailly is so gonna be one of the best CBs. Good balance though, Rojo organize while Bailly sweeps, and they have each others backs, nice to see Rojo is protective of Bailly.

Darmian, wow spectacular without too much noise. Great example of how to get a place in the first eleven. Fight and work, not rebel and complain. A great squad player. Good supporting defender.

Ashley Young  captain-like performance. Offer him deserving contract extension already. Great squad player. He's still not finished, still quality and have fire in his belly, Carrick too. Both of them lead the team by play very well today.

Captain Herrera!!! His greatest performance this season, lead the team well by effort, drive and passionate performance. He's going to be captain eventually for sure. Clean tackles too, mostly against Hazard. Btw, where is Hazard?

Rashford yup, he can carry us even if he's still inconsistent. His spurt growth and potential is scary, thankfully he's our player:drool:. Myth "Mourinho doesn't play younsters" officially dies... the reality is if they're good enough, take chances, work hard and listen to the manager, Jose will play them.

Pogba too showed glimpse of carrying us, inconsistent though. Better performance by him, nice to see he's improving, and willing to do the defensive work. His tackles and ball retentions are applaudable today. Lingard and Fellaini played well today.

Overall, it's kinda like revenge match. Fellaini on Luis. Rashford on Courtouis, Herrera on Hazard. Pogba on Kante. Mourinho on Conte. Rojo on Costa. Great match.

I am kind of used to seeing Herrera play superbly, but Darmian was fantastic too. Reminded me of the Darmian I watched in the first 5 matches under LvG.

An early goal can help a lot (see their performance against us in the away game). Shame we so often start slow and wait too long to pile on the pressure in most games this season. I think we'll miss out on top 4 but its a result that should give us a boost going into Thursday and the rest of the Europa. Chelsea were awful, I don't think they'll let it slip but they have to do better than that.

So glad that Jose is our manager.

Some posters on here should be ashamed, slating the team one minute and then praising them today.

We are 22 games unbeaten in the league with Jose, sure it hasn't been perfect but with 1 major trophy and a good chance with the Europa what a solid base to build on for next season.

Today was great victory for Jose more than anything, shows he is the right man for the job to all the doubters.

IN JOSE I TRUST!

Talk about a performance completely from left field. I can't remember the last time we battled like this. Completely unexpected but absolute kudos to Mourinho and his men. I'd happily take egg on my face.

Because we won the game I agree but for awhile I was concerned we were dominated the game and I think another goal was coming when lingard left we lost much of that but we won that is all that matters
What?

What to say lads.
I'm so happy. When we scored the 1st I was calm. Obviously I was happy but there was so much to play. But as the game was going on I saw we're in great shape, we were first to every ball, showed commitment and grit, and matched them in their cuntishness, we were even more cnutish which I really liked. Rojo and Bailly winded Costa up and didn't let him do his thing which is harrass everything and everyone. Midfield totally nullified them. Pogba had a good game, did what was asked from him, didn't complicate and has put a gread defensive ship.
I dont care what people say about Fellaini, today he had a great game, kept it simple, kept the game going and had a great game defensively. Young run ragged the whole game, tormented their players, was all over the pitch.
Darmian another good game, discipline nice performance, closed them and never got rattled.
Rojo and Bailly. I love them. I fu.king love them. Two crazy no nonsense defenders who are first to every ball and every header and don't let anyone harrass them. Both of them were great and I would love to see them a main CB pair next year. Rojo is quickly becoming my favorite player. He wears the heart on his sleeve, gives his all and is a bit of a cnut which we really need and needed since SAF retired. I think when Rojo made a nice foul on Costa in the 1st half Bailly said something to him, I bet it was something like - good job, go on. :D

Marcus had an immense game, ran all over the pitch, gave their defenders a horrible time, he was practically everywhere. Scored a great goal. I must admit I feared he would miss but it was a nice, composed finish. His future is bright and I like the fact Jose is showing so much confidence in him.

Ander Herrera. He was mister Manchester United today. What a brilliant performance by him. He gave 100 percent which he does every time but was brilliant on marking Hazard too and overall defensively and really good offensively. Kept it simple but was more positive than before in passing forward and what a pass for Marcus.. I love those balls with eyes behind the defense.. Next time I see someone say he should be a squad player next year I'll go bonkers.

And last but not the least.
Chelsea got Jose'd today. I think it was such a relieve for Jose today. Everyone was out to get him, many of United fans too. Media asking is he the old Jose, does he still got it, analyzing of his every word, making fun of his draws. He needed to prove a point, that he's still here and boy did he prove it.. Outclassed and outsmarted Conte and that was Jose of old today. Loved it!

Don't want to go over myself but even more after this game I think he's the man for us and he will get us back where we belong. I think base for a great next season is here. We have been unbeaten for a good while now, too many draws though, but next year we will score more and win more I'm sure of it. Jose knows what he wants from this club and his team and he's building it. If we get EL or top 4 or at least EL it will be a great season imo. Even if we don't get CL I still look forward to next season.

I dont want to gloat or everything but people overreacting and going bonkers prematch cause of the lineup should be a bit ashamed of themselves. Just a bit.

Also loved to see Chelsea so powerless and helpless. They didn't have a shot on target. When you do that to a league leader you know you had a good game. Conte looked like he will cry near the end.

@GifLord we need a gif of Ibra wiping his nose and looking at his buggers. :D

Anyway this was like the United of old. I just love seeing that.

Couldn't watch the match....just caught up now...but reading the post team announcement comments on the Caf made me embarrassed....it was a cascade of vitriol against Jose and a number of the players. I won't be reading them again in future....so many don't seem to be real fans at all....
This. Has put me off to be honest and I don't log in or post that much. It's downright embarrassing at times and even more so that there is a rawk thread

It is amazing what happens when you play to win rather than not to lose.

Very very good performance. Some stand out performances, but though Rashford returned to last year form through being played central. Couldn't fault tactics or players. Long may it continue.

Same result against City would be nice.

That unbeaten run is looking stronger now, you know with a decent win in it.

2 if you include Spurs, who we also shut down pretty well. Shame we fecked it up in the final minutes against Arsenal, our record v the top teams would look a lot better.

Just to add. I watched the game alone at my aunt's house. Watched over their cat.

When we scored a 2nd I yelled and sweared like a mad man (when I cheer for the goal I swear a lot). The Cat came from the balcony and looked at me like - wtf are you crazy.

Last 15 minutes I walked down the room up and down, changing channel every time Chelsea was in our half. :D
