Why 2 strikers, why Blind as a FB, Fellaini and Carrick as midfield 2, later Fellaini as a winger? Jones starting (and often finishing) most of our attacks)?

3-5-2 is not a problem because it's 3-5-2, but because we don't have players for that and because the players we have, we use on wrong positions.

Now again the same?

I am not mad about the result, the second half was OK in terms that that's how we played in the, probably, last 15 years when playing lower league teams in the cup, I am just mad that again the players didn't plays on their normal positions.

Also, I have the feeling that most of our players are afraid to risk it because of LVG, who always complains how some players loose often the ball when it doesn't have to happen even if the same player created 3-4 chances, scored and had an assist. Januzaj finally decided to take on players and it worked, but they are just afraid to do it during the game.

Have we not previous for this? Did we not draw 0-0 with Yeovil and Exeter was it in recent years?

I'd say losing by four at MK Dons was pretty low as well. Not to mention we've actually drawn twice away to Cambridge previously.

I am fecking sick of this tika takenaccio. It is by far the most boring football it exists.

At-least last year the matchs were interesting for opposite fans. This year is is a borefost for anyone. Just useless slow motion passing.

It's also not fit for the type of players we have. The only guy who benefits from is is Mata, all the others suffer under this style of play.

Absolute disgrace. Cambridge are the type of opponent that you kill off quickly. We just sat at the back and tried to control a game that should've been completely in our control even on our worst day.

Van Gaal has exceeded expectations against the big teams (Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool), but he looks incapable of giving the shite teams a pounding. It's worrying to say the least. We need to start steamrollering teams again to build momentum and confidence for the games that really matter.

Pathetic.
Is that Van Gaal's fault or the players that take their foot off the throttle? I'd very much say the latter, because players where making mistakes today that they really fecking shouldn't be. That is not LVG's fault!

I'm totally loving this new, risk free philosophy instilled at the club. It's doing wonders.

A small pitch that was awful, weather was terrible and their fans and players were well up for it. Not really a surprise and a replay won't be too much of a bother to us. Terrible performance but the conditions were so poor.

Sorry but feck off are they, what do you do when you get NO service? Nothing. I watched Falcao up top and his movement, as always was excellent, nothing was coming into him.

I won't say Falcao's chance was a sitter, but a poor first touch made his finish much harder. Van Persie deserves to be beaten for his miss.

Just a continuation of the dross we've seen for a while now. We are a limp, disjointed mess.

Di Maria still looks all over the place. Falcao looks average. Valencia is just a shit player end of. Jones was cack. Carrick has gone back to being a bed wetter. Blind had no support out wide. Fellaini was average because he is.

Januzaj and Rojo were the only players who played well. Herrera had a good outing.

So frustrating to watch. Second half was better, but we should have been on them from the start. Should win replay, but it's so unnecessary.

Blind and Jones were awful. Blind was terrible on the left. No pace, his passing was awful and he was passing it back at every opportunity. Jones put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Feck it, we'll hammer them in the replay. Difficult game to be fair, crowd were mental, pitch was terrible, conditions were rough and the opposition players were playin like men possessed.

Lack of creativity from us clearly but happy to still be in the cup.

Yep. Wouldn't look too much into this game. I just hope it doesn't give him a reason to go straight back to 3-5-2.

Thought we played alright, let's see how we do at Old Trafford.

at least we do get a home cup game this season then!

surely the latest we've had our first home game in 30years?

bs. If we played with a defensive midfielder behind di maria, mata and herrara, you would see just how good this style of football could be. Problem is, given our wing back situation, it leaves us too open defensively with only Herrara being one of those 3 that is any good defending.

Tough playing conditions and Cambridge were very well organised, sitting deep. Technical ability of a few of our players exposed. Not sure what happened to Daley Blind's passing as it was way below his usual standard. Rojo competed hard. Januzaj had some encouraging moments. Wilson barely saw the ball and when he did, he failed to control it.

Too often we go back when we could have played the ball forward. Herrera looked decent when he came on.

fecking 3-5-...oh wait.

Our best chance came when we finally played a direct ball on the ground through the middle. Our next best chance came from an over the shoulder ball down the middle which RVP often relishes, and it was a difficult chance which he was unlucky not to put away. Fine margins, but you'd think we'd keep doing that since it was starting to work.

Taking an age to put the ball in the box, all this twisting and turning, it gives the defence so much time to ready themselves for a cross. Put your crosses in early, or don't bother. A few of their boys could teach us a lesson. They got the ball, ran at the defence, put in an early ball and those balls were a threat. Our delayed crosses were batted away with ease.

We'll win comfortably at Old Trafford, but that's besides the point. It's a little embarrassing that we played a near enough strongest line up and couldn't even score, or barely even hit the target.

Lol don't even recognise some of the posters who are moaning on epic proportions in here

Feck the conditions we created nothing because we decided to become statues and stand still.

Our build up was so slow again. Very few of our players looked capable of taking their man on. We should have scored from Falcao or RVP's chances but we should be creating more. Not looking forward to the replay.

Or people' ll have to pay extra money to watch the same shit all over again.

He's managing them, they should be motivated and mentally prepared.

Typical gritty, no-holds-barred cup tie between a top-tier side and lower-division scrappers. They live to fight another day.

It happens every year in the FA Cup. It's a competition built for these kind of results. We've had worse results in this competition.

That being said, there were far too many unforced errors from us tonight, and you can only blame *some* of them on the conditions, pitch, et al.

Thought it has been clear to see that we aren't close to being a team yet. Looked like strangers playing together for the first few times (which it very well might be with all the injuries).

This process will take time. Some of the decision making was poor in the final third. Timing of runs was off. There was no semblance of a strike partnership between Wilson/Falcao or Falcao/RVP. In fact, it was almost comical that RVP and Falcao made the same runs into the same areas.

We didn't put in any decent crosses. At least Janujaz tried but Valencia was very subpar in his crossing today. Not sure why we didn't go with Rafael and Shaw at the fullback spots instead of two midfielders (Valencia & Blind).

I still think ADM is wasted in central areas at times. It would be great if we could switch him out wide and have him run at fullbacks and put in some good crosses to our strikers. I mean how else are they going to get service if teams pack the middle of the park? LVG seems to have us playing the ball centrally or trying to thread the needle despite this.

Its not a bad thing that we get a replay at OT because the players need more matches to get familiar with each other and the ever changing formations. I do hope we batter those gameraising cnuts though. Like really humiliate them by 8 or 9 goals. We clearly can dominate them but just lack that cutting edge.

Not a bad result,we are still in the cup and this is the FA Cup so bring on the replay,we've lost to worst clubs in the Fa cup in the past.I actually enjoyed it(proper cup game)
