PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 Arsenal

Post-match discussion

Some of you need to understand that very few managers will want to be more offensive when there's 5 minutes left and you have a 1-0 lead (and the backlash from losing a lead because we attacked to aggressively would send the Caf into meltdown). It's not like we have been spoiled with goals recently so when we have that little time left to defend a lead at home you'd expect our players to be able to hold on. Unfortunately Rashford was beaten too easily and once that cross was in the air there was only one outcome. What I'm more annoyed about is referees who come to OT with something to prove. Ridiculous how all 50-50 seem to go to the opposition these days.

It's going to be very hard to salvage this season; yet we could have been in a decent position with just a little bit more composure and effort.

2 more points down the drain, I just feel dejected right now, that smug look on wenger's face didn't help, cnut.

Feel sick but I would have taken a draw before hand. That says something though...

We should release all our CB's except Baily and get better Defenders. They all look like part time defenders who are unable to defend basic crosses when the going gets tough.

If that is a performance to be built on, then count me out. I'm not supporting a Manchester United side that plays like that - it is pitiful to watch.

We've played far better in other games this season.

What age are you? 14!

We are full of excuses when really, we just aren't good enough. We are still a 7th place side.

We had them on the back foot but as we seem to do recently as soon as we go ahead we retreat, take the pressure off and try to defend the lead. Very frustrating to watch.

Im going to say this and i will get the flames for it, but: Having both Rashford and Martial on the field trying to kill off a game isnt exacty the way to go. Most of the times they get the ball it turns into: YEAH!!! on redcafe, but in reality we have lost the ball 1-2 seconds later. That go to both of them.

Yeah both of them had good debut seasons, but when the next season comes then you will see who will keep it going.

People here actually belive here that missing Zlatan was good. If we had Zlatan this game would been killed.

Redcaf needs a reality check when it comes to our youngsters.
Martial wasn't on the pitch when we took the lead.

This season in a nutshell....

Title gone.... Ok fine

Top four though very much in reach. Played really well. Controlled and bossed a top 3 team and held them to 1 shot. Again shit result. Decent performance. Just have to work through it.

agreed, we are turning one of our brightest young strikers into a makeshift LB. he dropped so deep today I thought Borthwick Jackson was back.
It wasn't even the biggest mistake in that play though. Off all the players inside our box not one was marking their striker. Their striker got a free header. I'd Say that's more of a mistake than letting a cross in myself. Unless we watched a different match to everyone else.

This result keeps Arsenal in the title race.

It takes us out of the race for top four.

It really doesn't matter how well we play, we'll always be fecked over by the refs because we have Mourinho. That's the sad fact.

Feck this game.

Paul Pogba is not as fit as claimed. We can see he usually tires towards the end of teh game and should have been substituted. Taking out Rashford and Pogba and bring on Schneiderlin and Young instead would have won United the game.
The diabolical pre-season and the protacted Pogba transfer won't have helped the team. We will get there. There are good signs in places.

Pretty much sums up our season. That's around 8 points dropped where we've been by far the better team.

I do think it's something to build on though, particularly with our first choice central defenders out.

Reminds me of Jose's season at Chelsea 13/14. We'll get Champions League football if our luck changes and be in a great position to challenge next year.

Gutted. we deserved to win the match, our inability to convert chances had cost us at least 6 points this season. our forwards need to start delivering .

I really hate it when manager substitute their best attacker and subbed in a midfielder, at least put Lingard or Young instead of Schneiderlin, it would have been fine if it was a super tight match or if the team was under pressure, but we were dominating all game, why took the foot off the pedal and give them a chance??

Importance of subs are being overplayed. It was one costly mistake by Rashford. With his pace there's no way you can give the attacker that room at the period in the game. He doesn't need to get the ball. It's just stay close to the attacker.

I think our best bet is the Europa. Keep ticking away at the PL no doubt, but I would concentrate seriously on the Europa. We are getting better and better all the time (bar the chelsea game).

We have a good chance of winning the Europa, depending on the teams that come from the CL.

We played well. My only complaint about what we did today is the obligatory throwing on of Scneiderlin to see out a game. He's bloody useless at it. He's awful on the ball and on the goal he's jogging into the box marking nobody when they have a spare man at the back post. If he's not going to help with that kind of situation then what the hell is he doing?

A much better performance.
Positives.... Herrera, Mata and Carrick looked an excellent combination. Hopefully Carrick can stay fit for a few weeks.Best game Valencia had in years I thought Rojo played well also ( for once)

Negatives..... Martial is a shadow of the player he was last year. We paid 50 + million for him!

We sat back in the last 10 mins and got punished for not finishing the game earlier.

May be a bit harsh, but I feel there was a real lack of reaction to Chamberlain coming on. We should have had someone marking him out the game for the final 5/10 minutes.

Eh??! It was a good performance against a good Arsenal side.

Off you go then. Don't bother supporting us at all. Childish talk that is.

Yeah, most of this post is wrong. We were woeful, really?

We weren't woeful. We played very well. Did I watch a different game to everyone else? We dominated the play, scored the goal that should have won us the match, and got unlucky to concede from the only attempt they had on target in 90mins.

You dont want to build on a game where we completely controlled a big game against one of the best sides in the league where they created one chance all game? It was a very good performance all around, stop talking out of your ass

You lot need to get a grip of yourselves. We were abject. An Arsenal side with any fight, would've turned us over. In the way that, you know, Chelsea did. Did you enjoy that game? Did you enjoy us ambling around, losing the 50/50's, the misplaced passes, the lack of incision. The lack of fight. The inability to keep the ball in tight areas.

I want to enjoy watching Manchester United, not agonise of every flaw in our play. Can none of you remember how we used to play? Do none of you watch other teams in the top six and realise that our performances are so far below that of them?

Nothing we do is by design. We show flashes of cohesion and as quickly as it appears, it diminishes. We're inconsistent.

I take no issue with Mourinho. It's the players. They are so flakey, it's laughable.

Blind should've also offered support but Rashford was just terrible. It's really on him.

We cannot catch a break this season. The bounce of the ball, referee's decision, points in games where we didn't deserve them. You expect stuff like that in a normal season but nothing is going our way.

This used to be Arsenal's excuse...

Pointless. Excuses about luck are as silly as they were a few weeks ago. You make your own luck. Seeing out games is a necessary quality for a team with any kind of ambition. We needed a win and we didn't get it. We need a run of wins and this bunch does not seem to have it in them.

We are not winning games, when we are dominating and we are not grinding out results when we play badly. At this point I don't give a shit if we played well or not. We need points and we're not getting them.

Think we obviously need another at least CB and a striker who can score regularly. Ibra will get us goals, but until Rooney goes we are going to have the same problems. Rashford needs time, not all of it in the team.

Very unlucky.
We dominate the match and get the usual 1 point.

BTW, another negative record.
3 home draws in a row. Last time that happened was in the 90s.

And the 90s were when we were dominant! Let the good times roll!

We're still in a phase where with full time approaching I'm waiting for that kick to the stomach to come.

Whether it's Moyes, LVG or Mourinho, nothing changes. We just don't have the mentality needed to do any better than we're doing.

How did the ref feck us today??

Calm down and take a deep breath. Obviously you didnt watch today's game cause we were playing good football.

Just can't get a win even when we dominate , you are never confident with this team that they can hang on in situations like this or any situation. There is just something missing in us. We are not top 4 quality and the league table is about right as to where we should be.

First 10 mins we looked sharp, first to the ball and aggressive, then went flat. Poor first half from both teams. Arsenal were poor today but that doesnt excuse us sitting off them with 10 mins to go. Whoever made that decision to allow them time on the ball needs to take a long hard look at themselves
