PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 Arsenal

Post-match discussion

Most fans don't seem to understand football. You do know it is difficult to control a game for 90 minutes against a side of equal quality (WHO WANT AN EQUALISER), Mata was limping, but that is Jose's fault obviously.

Good peformance, disappointing result. Like many games this season. The signs are there that eventually we'll get what we deserve.

Half of the caf knew giroud would be a threat. Very disappointed he wasn't man marked by a tall player.

A win today would have brought us 3 pts behind them, and 5 off the top. Right back in it, after a fairly shit start to the season.

It feels so deflating. Easily should have been a win Arsenal offered absolutely nothing. Mourinho is making the same mistakes van Gaal made with these players - inviting pressure after taking a lead. Last 15 minutes we should have kept moving forward.

Thats football. Unless you are winning three nill or something the other teams will attack.

It's not bad luck. This has been several times this season already. Once we get a lead, go get another goal and then sit back.

We were good overall. Complacency at the end left a bad taste but the performance was positive up until that point. Neither should be overlooked.

Mata didn't look right just before he was subbed off, he was looking towards the bench so subbing him looked like the right call.

Yep, agreed. You can see the signs that this side is adapting to Mourinho's style. It'll take time, but I'll happily sacrifice this season if that's what it takes. Crap result, very, very good performance.

Genuinely unsure about their goal. I'm pretty sure Jones would've never been able to challenge Giroud from his position, but it looks like he gets a knee in the back from another Arsenal player (Koscielny?) making completely sure he couldn't even get in Giroud's way. From the replays I've seen it seemed like a pretty clear off-the-ball foul.

Miserable season. Possibly 10 points behind Liverpool by the end of the day. Our goalscoring abilities have been woeful this season. The draw didn't surprise me at all. People will say we were unlucky but this is what happens when you're not capable of scoring goals with regularity.

We need 4x more chances then our opponents to get a goal. 9/18 points at home is why were in this position.

This a hundred 100%.

All I hear after every fecking game is...we deserved to win! There's a reason we don't win and it's not luck, there is zero confidence in this squad.

Sickening, but you could almost tell it was coming. I don't want to turn it in to a Rooney bashing thread, but the amount of times I saw Arsenal comfortably bringing the ball out before they got the goal I just knew they'd make us pay. Rooney made almost zero effort to close them down and hurry them into making passes.
Ridiculous post, Rooney closed down as a lone man up front just aswell if not better than Rashford, our way of playing made the task extremely hard as the lone man ufront was usually isolated when pressing, Rooney can only do so much on his own closing upfield, its up to the midfield and wingers aswell to help out or else the lone man upfront pressing is just wasteful enegery. Rooney was fantastic when he came on.

Rashofrd should have taken out the player before the cross. We need to play dirty when we should

Our managers post Ferguson don't half make some awful substitutions.

When you play two centre halves that can't head the ball then you're always going to have problems.

Hopefully Smalling returns sooner rather than later because conceding headed goals is a trend we'll see continue if not.

Thought Rooney looked class h he came on and offers much more than any of our strikers so far his best cameo of the season.
Rashford at blame but he isn't a defender or even a winger so hard to have a go

How can we win the title? When Giroud is on, Arsenal just 1 delivery to score. I am very disappointed with Jose's tactic. 6 would be the best Utd can finish. Just focus on Europe League to get to Champion League, I don't see it any other way.
Knee jerk much? These things happen. The penalty decision cost us in the end.

Our defense was fine for the entire game. It was one error in 90 minutes that cost us, and it was completely against the run of play. Mourinho was faultless today as far as I'm concerned.

They were fine because we were on top all game and gave them literally nothing to do...literally. As soon as we flipped our tactics it went to shit...the very first attack they had.

Poor defending from Rashford cost us but where was Blind to help him out?

It wasn't about control - we chose to sit back. They'd brought Giroud on - Walcott & Sanchez were tired. Why would you sit back and allow them to cross the ball when they've just brought a striker, whose strength is in the air, onto the pitch? Keep a high line, squeeze the game and they get nothing.

Yeah? You knew that while we were dominating the match and they didn't even have a shot on target until late in the game?

People's reactions of "not good enough" are so predictable based on the result.

I wasn't at all surprised that they would score with their only shot on goal no

I don't really blame anyone for not winning today, not having Bailly is hurting us defensively

Rooney needs to train with the reserves or something. To think he's going to pick up 300,000 pounds for that 'performance'...

Great game and reminds me again that we aren't as far as some believe behind the so called top teams. The Rashford comments are pathetic.

Arsenal came here for their annual spineless cowardly defeat, offered their shitstained anus for a good dicking and we still had trouble staying hard.

This season can feck off. Nothing goes right for us.

Marriner should give birth to an army of hedgehogs.

Don't get the negativity. Thought we played well today. The cohesion was there and our defenders played surprisingly well. This is definitely a performance that can be built on.

What do you expect to happen when you bring Schneiderlin on and decided to sit off Arsenal.

Apart from Blind, which was necessary, Jose's substitutions cost us today. Rooney doesn't have the puff to close defenders down, even when he's only making a 15 minute cameo, and then that error was compounded by taking off Mata. Sure, that might be fine if Arsenal were trying to play intricate little passes outside our 18 yard box, but for the entire game they looked like they wanted to play it out wide. We sacrificed all our pressing from up top and out wide and it cost us.

Feels like a defeat.

Still, the performance for the most part was great. I've been pleasantly surprised with Jones since he came back into the team, and Valencia is superhuman.

After a while you have to stop calling it bad luck. We don't score when on top and shutting up shop with just a one goal lead and a make shift back four is always risky.
It's both. Racking up 1-0s have lead to championships before.

Rashford left dreadfully exposed but have to say Herrera..Mata and Carrick excellent today.

I give up with this lot. I really do.

We were woeful. Arsenal equally so.

We're so mild-mannered and lacking in fight, it's pitiful. Mourinho must be ruing this group of players. Anyone who looks at our performance and says 'we played well' is lying to themselves. We were abject. Slow. Ponderous. Our only clearcut opportunity came from our only attacking outlet - Valencia. Other than that, nothing. No craft, guile, creativity.

Last five minutes aside it was a good performance. We controlled the pace of the game, looked comfortable in possession even in their final third. I don't think we sat back after scoring as some are suggesting. That only happened as Giroud and Ox came on.

Satisfying performance, unlucky not to score more. Penalty would have changed the game.

The points we are getting are not reflecting our performances atm.

Good performance in many ways, both teams seemed fairly flat, lacked intensity. Pros Tony a greater attacking threat than Martial, and Rooney played well, cons Martial was terrible, and Pogba fails to own a game again.

Hard one to take. We were much the better team and were the only side to create any chances, apart from the one they put away.

It was a good performance and we deserved all three points. Mata, Herrera and Valencia were fantastic.

Draw isn't good enough at the end of the day, we desperately need to go on a winning run to stand any chance of catching our rivals but we just can't get a good run of results and I felt that this could have been it. All we can do is keep playing well like today and hope the results come.

All that nonsense from Wenger yesterday about being a duty to entertain. They were a joke.

The only real question is how have Arsenal only lost once this season?

They were garbage

Because they have confidence in the squad to pull on out of the bag. Quality that we use to possess some years back
