Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

I've heard of some creepy fan made ROM hacks out there. I should try one out sometime.
Never played any of the creepy ones, but a lot of others. Some are real clever. One were you played as a Team Rocket member, but the developer gave up on it, there was a real nice, but simple version of Gold set at Christmas, mostly added snow and made water/ice pokemon more accessible, still neat.

Cool they sound nice, especially the Christmas one. Will have to try and remember that in a few months.

What's the best pokemon game to get if I have an android emulator? Just a case of the newest I can find legally?

I just found a way to trade (with yourself) on a GBA emulator.
My 1st ever Alakazam

Woo pulled these out of one booster pack, shame I have the Greninja already but hey still cool.

Was looking at the 'Steam Siege' expansion coming out early August and although inevitably I'll be buying a few boosters, I'm annoyed at the lack of variety in the mega/full art cards. Gardevoir received the mega and full art treatment in 'Primal Clash' and the Radiant collection subset from 'Generations' but once again it makes an appearance in this set. Albeit at least one of them is a dual type IIRC.

I really need to curb my card expenditure. Caught up with the monthly mythical collections releases by getting my hands on the Manaphy and Shaymin boxes. Just bought a full art Gengar for £11 on eBay too. Need to give it a rest for a little while...

I was thinking of making a crack at Steam Siege, but maybe I'll trying finish Generations, Legendary Treasures and Breakpoint instead. I'm so bored of Gardevoir. Maybe the next set I start will be from Sun & Moon.

I feel you on the single Cards, I have to pick up a full art Mew EX which is expensive and two of the legendary treasures secret rares I need run about £30-£40 each!

Yeah I don't understand the logic of picking which Pokemon to place in a new set. Most of it seems very random. Speaking of Sun & Moon, I see one of the new legendary's has made its way on to the Steam Siege set.

I admire the effort in trying to complete each set. I imagine in doing so every card that comes out of a booster has the potential to be important to you. When I open a pack, it's just a mad rush to get to the rare card near the end! So many of the common/uncommon/rare non-holos I pick up from boosters are just rotting away in a big box. Grabbing those rare singles from older sets must be a right bitch. The full art Mew EX looks gorgeous, however!

To be fair you do get through enough boosters that the common and uncommon completes itself, so I tend to not even focus on them either! Most of the singles aren't actually too bad, there are a few EX and full arts that can get pricey if they were good to actually play with in the game, that Mew EX full art is near enough £10 whilst the other full arts in that set are more like £3-4. However the secret rares are worse, I need two and if I want them I'll have to drop at least £50-60 on them :wenger:

This is the one and there's a Zekrom version too.

Thats steep. A really nice card though. As is the Zekrom one. Will you cave? Checking out with PayPal is too damn easy on eBay. A few clicks and you're done...

I think I will, I have about 7 more singles to complete that set and I think I'll just be too annoyed only being those two cards away from completing that set. I'll keep an eye out to see if any good deals pop up! Yeah pay pal is killer, especially with the credit card linked to it

Nothing like the feeling of opening some boosters! Get anything decent? @Snowjoe

Yep! Did really well considering I needed about 25 cards to finish the set and I got about 10 I needed! The Raticate BREAKS was the last BREAK card I needed and the EX and Full Art I didn't already have. Then got 2 holos and a reverse holo of a holo and some rares I needed too. So really can't complain!

The Slowking and Meganium are holos but it hasn't shown on camera!

I couldn't get the DS emulators on Android to perform very well so I opted for a GBA emulator and Firered.

Android or PC?

In playing a hacked version of FireRed on my iPad at the moment. It allows you to catch every single Pokemon in game, as well as giving you a few different options as your starter Pokemon.

It's very good fun. Got (catchable) Mew leading my squad at level 31 atm. Just been putting the effort into to evolve my magic karp so finally have a Garydos and also have a level 29 Pigeotto. My start was Houndour which I have never heard of but is actually a bit shit anyway.

Gonna get rid of him soon enough. Any ideas who else I can fill my squad with? Definitely want a Charizard at some point but just need to work out where I catch a Charmander.

PC. Might be a little tougher in android because you have to play around with file extensions and new folders.

I got the DraStic emulator and it works fine. I'm playing Black 2. It works really well actually as for battles and menus you can use the touchscreen part instead of virtual buttons.

Ah alright. I didn't wanna pay for it. :p

Heart Gold/Soul Silver is probably the best, but they're all good tbh.

What are the best Roms hacks of these? I played Blaze Black ages back, which was good and looking for same for these games.

Looking for same story/same map as original (roughly) just all pokemon and harder gameplay.

Houndour is pretty excellent when it evolves, if you're ok with a glass cannon.

Not too sure tbh, mate, I haven't really kept an eye on the hacking scene since they were mostly working with GBA games.

This looks like it'd hit the spot though.

So, there's some fecked up shit on the way in Sun/Moon, another new type of form, for one thing, Aloha forms, something called totem Pokemon, and some new Z-Moves that are really powerful but can only be used onec per battle and have something to do with the trainer dancing....

Diamond Sanslash is pretty bitchin' tbf. Hopefully they'll finally make Crystal Onyx a thing.

As is Ninetails.

This makes Exeggutor a Dragon. Yes.

Bacon legs. Why? Game Freak.

Detective Trump ain't bad....

Oh god I love it all so much. That exeggutor

Hey lads. Going to pick up a 3ds in the next few days as all this Pokemon Go talk lately has got me wanting to play pokemon again (i would rather play an actual game instead of Go) I'm gonna get the new sun/moon when it comes out but i want another one so i can start playing straight away. Is Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire the way to go? Or is there something better to get first up?

I haven't played a pokemon game properly since i gave up on my Silver version when i was stuck on 240 pokemon for months. That had to have been at least 10 years ago.

If you specifically want a 3DS Pokemon game, you can't go wrong really, X/Y and Alpha/Omega are all on the level, the latter offering a bit of a nostalgia trip if you've played the GBA games, which it seems you haven't.

If you do want a nostalgia trip, you could get one of the Gold/Silver remakes. The only DS games I'd suggest avoiding are Diamond/Pearl as the surfing on them is really slow(as is the original Ruby/Sapphire games) and makes certain points of the game drag a bit if you're not really into it.

Thanks for the info. Yeah completely missed all the GBA and DS games. I'm leaning towards the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire versions as they are the newest.

Can you play DS games on the 3ds? If you a Gold/Silver remake does sound pretty appealing.

Yup, you can play DS games on the 3DS, probably one of the most amazing back catalogue of games to dip into.

Nice. Thanks man.

Just reading through this thread and i had forgotten how much i liked Pokemon back in the day. Now i want to start collecting cards again and everything haha. Will have to keep an eye on this thread from now on (once the Pigba saga is over, been refreshing that fecking thread constantly for a few weeks now)

Dragonite or Gyarados lads? Or both?

Currently have:

Rayquaza
Mew
Dragonite
Gyarados
Pigeot
HM whore

I wouldn't mind trying some of the legendary Pokemon I just caught which is why I'm deciding who to get rid of. Three rock looking feckers and then a big blue thing and a big red thing. Can't remember any names.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Pigeot but he has been with me since Lv. 5 :(

I'm on a hacked version of Fire Red, hence catching all these legendaries.
