Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Dragonite or Gyarados lads? Or both?

Currently have:

Rayquaza
Mew
Dragonite
Gyarados
Pigeot
HM whore

I wouldn't mind trying some of the legendary Pokemon I just caught which is why I'm deciding who to get rid of. Three rock looking feckers and then a big blue thing and a big red thing. Can't remember any names.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Pigeot but he has been with me since Lv. 5 :(

I'm on a hacked version of Fire Red, hence catching all these legendaries.

Regirock/ice/steel. Unless you have a very strong super effective move against them, they're really tough to KO.
I never bothered much with tactics and they used to destroy me by just increasing defence endlessly and then hitting once my moves couldn't make any dents.

Wow.

wtf. it is $40 here, and can be got for 20 used

Lucky to get a used copy for £40 over here, and even then it'll be just the cartridge. There are people selling empty boxes and game manuals for £15 on ebay.

That's the ones! I've already caught them (after many, many Ultra Balls... I ran out of Ultra Balls for one of them and caught it first go with a normal Pokeball which made me laugh).

I might not use them just because they don't look very cool and it would mess with my OCD to use one without the other two.

I've been tempted to get a 3S just for the new games. What's the verdict and the cheapest way to go about it?

CEX are currently selling X&Y and Omega/Alpha Sapphire/Ruby for £45

CeX are wise to people looking for Pokemon games now. It was only last year I picked up White 2 and Diamond for about £25 for the pair, and now they're like £35/£40 each.

I didn't know they were "mad expensive", used to find them all the time for 20 euros.

I thought you were just letting him crush his own dreams. I remember seeing a copy on ebay for £25 used a few years back and thinking "bit steep when it's £35 new". Wish I'd bought it now.

I wish I hovered up all those cheap copies now, could have sold them on at a tidy profit, or passed them on to needy Cafites cheap.

I'd ditch Gyarados, he's not great in the GBA gen. :(

Picked up Omega Ruby last night and played a few hours. Choose Mudkip as my starter. Is now a level 16 Marshtomp, the first gym was way to easy with this guy lol.
Also have a Poochyena, Zagzagoon and Ralts. All around level 9.

Also got given an access card with the game for a level 100 Arceus. No idea what it is but it sounds good.

New Japanese trailer

It shows a regular Pikachu being evolved into an alola form Raichu, I'm wondering if that is the default evolution in the game or a special type i.e. not with a thunder stone.

BTW not sure if it's reached this thread yet, but the new set coming out will have tons of re-prints from the original sets including several Base set holo's, even Charizard!

Definitely going to pick up a couple of the Evolutions boxes :)

Got back from the Pokémon World Championships yesterday, got some sweet gear there :D

So I restarted my Pokemon Y game, I'll need help with Ghastly, Abra and stuff when I need to evolve them via trade if anyone is willing to help? Also is Sylveon the only strong Fairy Pokemon (non-legendary) out there or is Flabebe worth using?

Togekiss, Azumarill(with Huge Power) Mega Mawile, Mega Altaria and Gardevoir/Mega Gardevoir are all good fairies. Flabebe's final form is good too, though, massive special defence and great special attack.

I meant from the last gen Pokemon, I've always found togekiss kind of weird though, never liked it.

Sylveon is only really good if you evolve Eevee with its Hidden Ability, as Pixilate on Sylveon is ridiculous. Normal-type moves become Fairy-type moves and you have an added bonus on top. So, something like Hyper Beam gets a 50% power boost followed by a 30% power boost. Then, you could use either the Life Orb item for another 30% or Choice Specs for another 50%! Mega Gardevoir has this ability as well.

Florges is the only other Fairy of note added, but I think it's more suited to Double Battles. The main problem with Fairy-type Pokémon is that in terms of offensive attacks for playing through the game with, they are very lacking in terms of variety. Even Sylveon is pretty much limited to Moonblast and Shadow Ball... Klefki is another Fairy in the games, but again it is more of a support Pokémon best used for Doubles.

Mega Mawile is silly strong though, if you're happy to use up your Mega Evolution slot for it.

In other news, ended up buying six Steam Siege Boosters from GAME just to get the 20th Anniversary Promo Cards they had in

Pulled a full art Steelix EX, Mega Gardevoir EX, Yveltal BREAK, and a foil Xerneas which was pretty sweet :) might eBay them next week!
