Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

They're to denote the set they're from. The R is the Team Rocket set of cards.

There was me thinking it made them extra rare :( They're all from the Wizards of the Coast group(?) of sets so they might be a bit uncommon.

Wizards of the Coast used to make all the cards up until a few years ago when Nintendo/The Pokemon Company started doing them themselves.

Oh ok. Told you, I know nothing about Pokemon cards I only dealt with YuGiOh when I was younger!

I've checked and these are all from either the first Base Set (1999) or the subsequent Jungle and Team Rocket sets. Don't think they're worth enough to make money from though.

By and large they aren't worth much individually except certain first edition holographics and even then only when PSA graded.

The most valuable are first edition base sets that are 'shadowless'. (Google it)

Yeah seen some of that info as I've been researching right now. Some of the prices are ridiculous.

Thought there might've been £30 or so in there somewhere but maybe not. No harm in keeping them, they'll only get rarer I guess.

Just downloaded a Gameboy Advance emulator on my phone, time to smash the older Pokemon games whilst at work!

This arrived today:

Not my actual card but it's so nice. It's holographic too even though it doesn't show in the photo.

Mega Gallade, Mega Sharpedo and Mega Camerupt have been revealed.

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon's abilities have been revealed, although there are no details on what they do (my guess - permanent weather).

Yeah permanent weather, since the regulare ones only do the usual 5 turns now.

See they're making more megas that don't need boosts, Gallade ffs.....

Power creep is getting a bit ridiculous now.

Still think Haunter is the baddest of the lot, but Shiny Mega Gengar is a very close 2nd.

Yeah would have been cool if they were going to give away Ghastly shiny so we can choose how far to go, although I'd go all the way anyway.

Saying that I'm not overly keen on giving away shinys. Gengar was a shiny I really wanted and was looking to breed for or something, doesn't feel right everyone being just given one, takes away the edge.

Shiny encounter rate was halved in X/Y anyways so they are a bit more common. I have over 200 of them, mostly from trades.

Oh jesus, I just read what Primal Groudons ability does.

Causes "extremely harsh sunlight" which is sunlight that not only powers up fire attacks(and solar beam), but completely negates water attacks. It also is permanent as long as Groudon is in play, and the weather can't be changed.

Primal Groudon is Fire/Ground, with a water immunity. Only weakness is ground, but it gets Solar Beam(with no charge needed).

Primal Kyrogue has a similar water/rain ability(with immunity to fire), but is much less OP as it's strong against fire anyway.

So they're releasing a demo at some point with a mega evolution in it you can take to the main game.

Gimme demo now.

It's a separate section that's not part of the main game too, apparently, which is a nice bonus.

Awesome! That's cool they're making the demo not just a hash up of a small part of the game and actually offering something with it. I can't wait for this game, I really want to make an effort to not use the same old Pokemon I always use though.

I always end up with a Water, Fire, Grass, Electric, Flying then some other random. Need to mix types up especially. I also use a Mareep and its evolutions at every opportunity.

Haven't used a Skarmory in such a long time! I'd love a shiny one too to go with my green Druddigon.

- Buy one of those Pokemon ones from Japan.
- When the regular ones are released over here, buy one in a color/design that they don't have in Japan.
- Swap the insides, so you have the UK one in the Pokemon case, and the Japanese one in the UK case.
- Sell the Japanese one in a UK case as a super rare limited edition Japanese New 3DS.
- Profit?
