I don't think it's necessarily a huge problem if our forwards continue with the form that they've started the season in. We were always likely to keep things tight in the big games anyway, so if Matic and Herrera can form a decent partnership and the defence keep their shit together then we've got a good chance with Lukaku, Rashers and Martial up front.

You're talking about a pretty small sample size of games - he was trying too hard at times last season, but sooner or later he'll get a handle on that and start delivering in the big games too I'm sure of it. You talk as though it's a problem he'll always have?

I think given his character, trying to be the star man in those games is unavoidable for him. Of course, he has the ability to actually be the star man and be the best player on the pitch in any game, i'm just searching for positives to take from it if he is out injured. for the record, id much rather have pogba available for every second of every game.

Think he'll be back after International break. We shouldn't need him vs Palace.

If he doesn't even make the bench for the Liverpool game I'll join the doom brigade, but until then I still think Jose's vagueness is due to it not being as bad as the press like to speculate and he's letting them fuel the fire for the opposition.

At least we have a rough idea now, he's a massive loss but we need to just concentrate on winning and getting points. When he says long term we are chatting November unfortunately. He's tried to soften the blow, we just need to hope key players stay fit and get on with it. Injuries happen every team its just how you deal with it. The Pereira situation is extremely disappointing, he would have had a real shot of getting in this team.

I’m hoping by long term he just meant he didn’t want to consider players not available for this weekend. Wishful thinking.

Guess those reports from Dunc and Ducker looking at before the November international break had some credence to it.

I remember when people were speculating about Zlatan being back before the season ended because Jose was coy.
Pogba is out for the foreseeable future.

The seriousness of Zlatan's injury was immediately clear to anyone who had seen the incident though, that's hardly the case with Pogba.

I think we'll cope without pogba, but their will be a lack of creativity as a result, so we should be looking to accommodate Juan mata somewhere in the middle for that.

Carrick having played just one game getting injured this time is a bad news.

He'll be back for Liverpool, it's obviously Jose playing mind games.

The situations are completely different.

He's probably still getting more chances out on loan, then if he stayed.
100% Thing with Jose is, if Pereira was second choice to Pogba, he'd have still been here now. Fellaini, Herrera and Carrick are all ahead of him, rightly or wrongly.

We should recall Andreas pierera in January , we need him.
I wonder if there is a protection around that loan signing. He's a major loanee. Not like sending a sub keep out to a 2nd division side. I imagine Valencia have some sort of contract where they get him for the full season.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has bracketed Paul Pogba's injury as "long term" - comparing it to those Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo are recovering from.

The severity of the hamstring issue that caused the 24-year-old to limp off early in the club's Champions League return against Basel has been shrouded in mystery.

Mourinho has repeatedly claimed not to know how bad Pogba's injury is as the club continued to assess him in-house, as well as seeking specialist advice.

The Manchester United manager is still unwilling to put a timescale on the injury, but 17 days on from the France international's setback Mourinho has revealed it is a long-term issue.

Based on our recent form, I'd be more worried without these players more than losing Pogba:

Lukaku
De Gea
Rashford/Martial
Miki
Matic
Bailly

We really miss the midfield general, but he hasn't been the most consistent and I think he is the type of player at his stage of his development that could let us down in a big way in a key match. You're not going to get anywhere near the dynamism from Fellaini/Herrera/Carrick. But they're more consistent and dependable in the big games.

This isn't knocking Pogba for one second, I just think there are more important players we would suffer without, so I'm not too down as long as we keep a handle on injuries and playing time.

It worries me a bit Lukaku having so much game time.

Gutted if he's out for more than a month.

He's not going to want him going out on a meaningless jaunt to with France, and he's not going to show his cards, so I wouldn't expect anything else from Jose tbh.

No, we have the option to recall him open.

That doesn't sound good at all.

Nonsense, he'll be back in november maximum

Jose wouldn't be using words like "long term" if that was true. I presume he's suffered at setback in his recovery and I really do fear his season maybe over.

Both Manchester clubs suddenly suffering significant injury setbacks after a strong start. Meanwhile, Chelsea (who were supposedly to be crumbling apart under Conte) are starting to string together results and can send a big message this weekend.

I am unnecessarily getting annoyed by the lack of definitive timeline about his return. It’s because of some stupid hope that he could be back sooner.

What the heck are you basing this on? Do you know of any other hamstring injuries that took 9 months to heal? Jeez, you can create, grow and birth an entirely new human in that time!

We'll be fine if Herrera steps up again in midfield. Mkhi and Mata now need to step up as our main creators.

Herrera stepped up last game, his two interceptions were pivotal for two goals we scored immidiately after that.
