Gaming PlayStation 5

I picked a hell of a day to spend most of the day sleeping after a tough few days of work. Clicked the confirmation on my ShopTo order for the disk version about an hour ago. No confirmation e-mail yet. Hopefully I haven't missed out.

Maybe they are having issues. I know Game are they said it can take up to 24 hours to get a confirmation email

Simplygames have started. Website as usual slow.

And it’s only bundles.

You won’t get one immediately I don’t think, I haven’t had one.

Very cancellations are nervy, I did one as a backup

Very naughty from simply games forcing bundles. They did the exact same thing with PS4.

£450 is cheapest price for digital and £550 for disc.

I have a standard edition on order from Amazon but would prefer a digital edition. Wonder if its just best to keep an eye out for any stock and then cancel the existing order. Not very hopeful given the demand.

Also found out that FIFA 21 wont support cross gen multiplayer. What kind of BS is that?

It's EA so shouldn't really surprise us anymore. They've also decided to release Fifa 21 for the PC with the same visual performance as the PS4/One versions and not the bells and whistles that'll come with the next gen colsole versions. Bunch of cnuts.

So does the 'pre-order your pre-order' thing that we did a month ago actually count for anything? Are we still having first dibs over someone that placed their initial order this morning?

I think so but they are clever with the wording, they won’t guarantee release date dispatch. It says they will email when their stock is confirmed.

You like to think they gauged how many they need based on the register stuff and asked accordingly

This is a nightmare I just can’t load past my payment details. It’s just so frustrating!

I'm genuinely rooting for you @TrustInJanuzaj do Adnan proud and secure that Argos preorder!

If you do get an Argos preorder it will probably be safer than mine with Game!

Argos is my last hope so. Couldn't find a console anywhere. Might just walk into gamestop and see what happens later.

How come you / so many other posters seem so nervy on pre orders getting cancelled? Just cos you haven’t had a confirmation email? Assume you got an order number etc?

Surely Amazon/GAME etc won’t actively be cancelling pre orders?

Any news on what happens next?

When do they “restock” the pre order? I’m in NA and it is sold out everywhere.

Starting to thing the people who missed out will have to wait until January or December at the earliest BUT whose to say this BS won’t happen again? Never seen a Console drop happen like this before.

Wasn’t this the same with the PS4 in terms of selling out everywhere based on pre orders? I remember hesitating in ore order but managed by absolute fluke to pick one up in a game store as someone had cancelled order. Paid through the nose for a bundle which included a bunch of Blu Rays.

I remember when I got the PS4 I just went to gamestop day of release after school And got it.

Talks are that the next batch will be around January time cause of covid. Insane.

I'd be surprised if demand is as high, but yeah a bit more of a structured pre-order would have been nice.

I appreciate knowing what time it’s starting. Doesn’t help all the retailers are doing the PS5 at separate times. Once people can’t get one with a certain retailer, they move on to the next and the site crashes. If they all opened at the same time maybe that wouldn’t happen. After Argos, it will probably be John Lewis.

In the past companies have been known to take more orders than they can fulfill. Some may only have a rough idea of how many Sony will give them. As many of the websites are struggling to cope, they may even end up selling more than they expect. There is talk that Very have already started to cancel some preorders. I haven't paid Game a penny yet, they could cancel my order tomorrow and not even worry about refunds etc.

I noticed earlier that the Ebuyer store page says "All pre-orders are reported daily to Sony for stock allocation, a pre-order does not guarantee stock on the launch date."

Amazon is the gold standard preorder imo, especially if you get in at the first wave of their orders. They will already have mountains of them stashed away, they own their own delivery network and have excellent Customer Service.

Just a few days ago shopto cancelled every preorder of the new Mario game because they couldn't get enough stock:
