ive got mine arriving tomorrow (the anniversary one) I dont have my PS5 connected via ethernet. How bad will it be or is it passable?

I absolutely love the Portal and I thought it was the dumbest device ever when it was first announced. It’s the ultimate dad machine.
is your PS5 wired or do you use it via Wifi?
I’ve tried both and it didn’t seem to make much of a difference, so i stuck with wireless as it was easier. I have a good WiFi mesh system in the house though which helps. Only room I get stutter in is the kitchen where we have no point. Everywhere else is perfect.

Path of exile 2 livestream later tonight. Paid early access on ps5 starts 6th December I think.... quite looking forward to this as I found diablo 4 a bit dull in the end and am needing a new ARPG fix
39 quid for a dualsense on Amazon black friday isn't a bad deal. Picked one up as the controller which came with my system is knackered

I have ordered a 3rd! PS5 pro. Here's hoping for better. Going to stick with this one unless it won't turn on.
Looking forward to giving Horizon forbidden West another go. It's meant to look great on the Pro. Also, I want to check out GT 7 in VR, which has had an update.

I love the dualsense but it’s such an unreliable piece of shit compared to previous controllers. Had one that got drift and now on my current one the x button keeps getting stuck so I’ll have to get yet another one. I’m not even a heavy gamer on the ps5!
It's the battery that annoys me. It's even the same shitty battery on the Edge!!

Yeah, you have to take it apart, but it's not difficult and doesn't take long. There are plenty of YT videos showing how, you only really need a small screwdriver and a knife. Just have to be careful with some of the connector ribbons, but it's not overly fiddly.
Shouldn't have to do it, of course, but it's better than having to keep replacing them. It's also how you can properly clean the sticks to help with the drift too.
My third PS5 Pro is as loud as the others. Going to keep the one, though.Messed around with some pro games yesterday, including the much heralded Horizon FW. And I could hardly notice a difference from base PS5 The only game to impress me was Re4 which looked great.
Do not buy this console for the full £700. No way is it worth that. I got it 20% off and sold my og ps5 to make up the cost. But yeah, this thing is very much a 'bit better' PS5.
I have not tried it with PSVR, yet. Looking forward to seeing any improvements there.

jaysus thats unlucky. Can you hear it over a game? Or s it just a slight background noise?
Mostly drowned out by in game. I only changed it as plenty of people were saying that theirs was silent. Turns out, that most of them are loudish. You need to get lucky to get a silent one.
It's about the same noise as my og PS5 and I did eventually get used to that. It sucks that they can't make a quiet console for everyone.
I've got this thing now where I've got a 'good' controller with no stick drift, and another controller with some stick drift. I use the stick drift one for most games because I don't want to ruin the good one, but it basically means I never use it

Can you not set deadzones on the dualsense?
I know you shouldn't have to and it's a design flaw, but messing with deadzones would help if that's possible. It is on the dualsense edge, but you can change the sticks out on those anyway.
I don’t know if you like Final Fantasy games but apparently Rebirth has been called the best upgrade on the PS pro. I only played the demo of Rebirth but the performance mode took an obvious hit in graphics and the quality mode was slightly irritating at 30 fps.
I've only really started using the PS5 recently. It's just been something to watch TV apps on for a couple of years.
Been playing Gran Turismo 7 a lot. Its not nearly as far ahead graphically of other racing games as it used to be, but it still has something about it that makes it more fun than other racing games, and I love the attention to detail on the cars.
Does this guy in the caf ever shut up and let you just play the game instead of setting you his silly challenges though? He's just set me a task to wash one of my cars. Then I had to pay credits to wash one of my cars which had its own loading screen and menu. Feck off. I don't even wash my car in real life.

Apparently the pro patch for GT7 on PSVR2 is very very noticeable. It's about the only thing that's made we want a Pro...... it can still wait though!
Yep pleasantly surprised by it. Menu system as awkward as ever but the gameplay hasn't lost its charm at all.
I just picked this up yesterday on a black Friday sale looking for the same thing - how much bloat (like the car wash thing) would you say is present in the game? I really just want to race and acquire new cars to ogle for a few minutes in cockpit view or a gallery type thing.

Well that's my motivation for playing it too and it's absolutely fine as long as you dont mind having to gradually unlock all the tracks, which has bothered me very little because you do that by entering races etc.
You can take any car you aquire for a time trial or set up custom races etc. And nose at them in your garage whenever you like. There's also a function to take them to scenic places for photos etc. But I have avoided that.
I think I've got 50+ cars and most of them I won instead of bought. A vast majority are available once you get access to the main dealership which doesn't take too long, it's just building up the credits to afford them.
Basically if you liked the old Gran Turismos you'll get on fine with it
No black Friday discounts for existing subscribers this year then? That's pretty scummy of SONY. You only get 30% off the extra cost if you move to a higher tier from theone you are on - and those already on the top tier like me have to pay the full £119.99. Last year they gave a discount and then I paid for it with discounted pSN credit from Shopto.net meaning I ended up paying about £75 in total.

I heard good things about the IQ on Horizon Forbidden West on the Pro and it didn't let me down! It's insane.
It's just a shame that the game isn't really my cup of tea, these days.
I bought 1tb of extra storage. That should see me through the rest of this gen.
