Gaming PlayStation 5

Bloodborne fans are fecking annoying. It's already one of the greatest games of all time, time to move on.

It's the only one that doesn't run at 60fps. And Sony occasionally post about Bloodborne so it makes people.hope for a remaster, sequel or Bloodbornekart.

Anyway that state of play was fecking awful. I think a couple of games that might be good, monster hunter wilds which will be great but released on Xbox and pc so hardly counts and a lot of shit looking games (like that first FPS and the marvel crap).

Where the feck is that mgs3 remake. A bit sick of remakes but I love mgs. That was announced nearly a year ago and we have had nothing since.

I'm excited about new Astro bot enough that I might even pay £70 for it on day one.

I'm bad at games, so this is funny coming from me, but I do hope it's not too easy. Give me a bit of a challenge

Excited for Astro, but what the hell are Sony's studios doing? So many of them are yet to even announce a PS5 game. Thank feck we have Insomniac and Santa Monica.

Very excited for Astro!

The game with the kid on the back of the adult - melee combat game - also looked good. Concord looked solid but not my kind of game.

This state of play was intended for the rest of this year and hence focused on Condord and Astro. We’ll most likely see what the likes of Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica and Sucker Punch have been upto towards the end of the year / beginning of 2025, likely at a showcase.

My Mrs is exactly the same

What game is annoying you?
Just off the top of my head that I’ve played recently - Spider-Man 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. They’ve just been sitting in my library and upon playing them I realised why I can’t be bothered to play games these days

My bet is spiderman. That drove me up the wall

Yeah, there's a lot of gum flapping in those games.

I don't mind lots of interesting dialogue, or even not so interesting. But if they force you to sit through it, kind of makes me think they have no faith in it being interesting

Me either, quite like it at times. But its always the shittiest, most cliched, unimaginative crap that makes it unskippable. I mean they have to stop the game every 30 secs for a cutscene because they cant write for the medium for a start. It would just be a massive black mark against a game for me. Like QTE's or escort quests except worse.

Very amped for the Astro game, but honestly, it just pisses me off that Astro is the only game in the entirety of the PS5 cycle that has tried anything with the haptics and the triggers. Every other game has made very light utilisation of the dualsense features. There's so much more than can be done (as demonstrated by Astro's Playroom).

Yeah developers could be doing so much more. I’m currently playing Returnal (what a game!) and it does quite a good job with it tbh.

Anyone here going to get the PS5 Pro? I think I'll pass and just keep my current console until PS6.

Thing is going to be expensive. They can't even get the price of the regular PS5 down.

Wouldn't mind it if it was a similar price. I think the only reason I'd get it would be for GTA VI but by that point it will be worth just waiting for the PS6.

We still don't have any official specs, so it's hard to know what to expect. I'll probably get it if the performance and/or image quality benefits are decent enough.

No doubt I'll get it for the missus.

But absolutely no idea why people still bother expecting something worth while, just buy a PC and be done with it

I like having both. Different friends on different systems too.

Just a different experience. I find it so hard to motivate myself to go sit at my desk and play something on PC, while I have absolutely no problem lounging on the sofa like a sack of potatoes with a controller in hand for hours straight. So yeah, I prefer to just get the best living room gaming experience.

Absolutely mate.

I was talking more about the need to "upgrade" within a generation. It's a con, we all know that, as the pro variants will still be behind the curve.

See above. You can use your PC the same as console anyway, which you already know. But I'm not talking about one vs the other in that way, I'm talking about the upgrade path and being a little bit tongue in cheek ;)

Can’t go back to PC gaming. Too inconvenient and too expensive for me.

Damien will give out to us.
If you're upgrading mid generation then that would be pretty expensive. I dont really get the aversion or distinction between console gaming and pc anymore. I guess its good for late adopters.

The price differential, I like living room gaming, its easier for the kids, I'm not really interested in the nuts and bolts of Pcs and we're a Mac household, so wouldn't use a windows device for anything else.

Some big news rumours today.

Microsoft is reportedly working on a remaster of Bungie's classic first-person shooter Halo: Combat Evolved and is eyeing up a PlayStation release - alongside multi-console releases for the likes of Hellblade 2 and the next Doom - potentially marking a landmark moment for one of Xbox's most recognisable exclusives.

That's according to The Verge's Tom Warren, who (in the site's paywalled Notepad newsletter) says a new Halo: Combat Evolved remaster is currently in the early stages of development. It's one of several new games reportedly being considered for Project Latitude - Microsoft's internal name for its new multi-console release strategy - following multi-console launches for Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush earlier this year.

I suppose the only point of having an Xbox is gamepass then? I would hope they still release these games on gamepass for Xbox

Nobody on Playstation wants a remaster of Combat Evolved

Looks like the stage is MediEvil based? Outfit obviously from Bloodborne.

The avatars and outfits can be unlocked during play without getting the more expensive editions - they're just if you want to unlock them early.

For physical, ShopTo has the base edition at £54.85 - https://www.shopto.net/en/ps5as07-a...e&utm_medium=Banner&utm_campaign=Astrobot+PS5

If anyone sees any cheaper, feel free to post.

I got my pre order in for Astro Bot. £59 seems steep but I had to suck it up.

God, I wish i had the disc PS5, so much cheaper to buy physical than digital. And of course I could then sell the game on when I've finished.
