Gaming PlayStation 5

All I get from this conversation is that Chesterlestrotter obviously has terrible breath and now looks like:

There’s a game on PS+ called Dredge. DL’d out of curiosity as it’s from Team 17 and have found myself hooked. Great little game so far with a distinctly old skool feel. Bit of grinding, bit of mystery and as I’m only 6 hours in I have no idea where it’ll end but trawler / sea fishing has never been so intriguing.

I think its more the fault of the state of gaming itself at this point but yeah wow is this generation shit, i haven't played my console in like 11 months now and having owned one since release week by far the best game that is still available is astros playroom.

Seriously theres been like 5 games that haven't been remakes or weren't already available on PS4, can you guys remember the 360 era? Within this release period we got like Dead rising, Assassins creed, GTA IV, Halo 3, Gears of war 2, Mass effect, Viva pinata, Dead space, Burnout Paradise, Oblivion, Bioshock, COD4 etc etc. I mean nothing else needs to be said right, the new franchises!

Yeah it's brilliant! There's a DLC for it, and another due soon I think.

Have heard great things about it

I thought Dredge was fine but it didn't really grip me as much as I'd hoped after an intriguing start. It didn't leave me wanting more after finishing it, so no DLC for me. Rather bizarrely, it's getting a live-action movie adaptation.

Yeah, I’ll see where I’m at once finished. Much as I’m loving it, whether I’ll want to extend it is another matter.

edit: I could see it making a bloody good tv show if handled correctly. Its slow burn horror and mysterious characters could be ace over a 6 - 10 part series.

Yeah it tapers off a little bit, but it had massive potential, I think a sequel could be great.

I'm going to check out one of the OG GOW games on PS Plus. I've never played them before. Will probably play 3 as two is only on streaming.

These old GOW games have so many QTE's. Enjoying GOW 3 enough, though!
Yeah, the one flaw in an otherwise pretty perfect series. I dont remember 3 as much because i played it years after release but the 2nd one was particularly bad for them. Still a high point for devil may cry / onimusha style clones and a lot of brilliant boss fights. I guess the first one was a bit rough around the edges and might not have aged as well as the others. I reckon i could go back and really enjoy the 2nd one again.

Anyone downloaded The first descendant? It’s free to play watched someone playing it and it gives me Antham vibes

Brilliant games. I didn’t mind the QTE events given they were typically reserved for flashy cinematic moments that really set the bar for action games for the time.

This may seem like a silly question but for those of you who like completing games and getting platinum trophies, for games you truly love - do you go for the trophies on the first play though itself or leave some content for the second go? Wouldn’t completing everything on the first go leave nothing to look forward to on any subsequent play through?

Usually depends for me. For example on an open world game like GOW or Spider-Man, I’ll aim to finish the story first and then do a clean up of all the remaining trophies that I haven’t collected yet. If it’s something like TLOU I’ll do the trophy hunting along with the story playthrough. If I miss a trophy in a particular chapter, then I’ll just replay that particular chapter to collect the missed trophy.

What's wrong with Bloodborne on OLED

I find the framerate and judder very hard to play on OLED vs my old LED. It's not the only 30fps game I've noticed it with, and I think it has something to do with the refresh rate of an OLED display itself. Makes 30fps feel a bit worse overall, but Bloodborne (due to something called frame pacing I believe) is particularly bad.

At least, that's what I've gleaned from various comments made in youtube vids - there's likely someone on here with a better understanding but the tl:dr is that certain 30fps games feel worse to me on OLED.

I mean more of whether you prefer to do on first or second playthrough. There are some rare games I just know I’ll play again.

Yes, me. It's not all that much like Anthem IMO. It's a very grindy mash up of Warframe, Outriders, and a hint of Destiny.

The monetisation is horrible but on par with these kinds of games.

I enjoy grindy games and I've largely been enjoying every minute of it. Bottom line, if you like any of the games I mentioned above you will likely get some enjoyment out of it. I suspect though that for many, the enjoyment will likely end once they've completed the normal difficulty 'campaign' which is essentially unlocking all the map areas and clearing the key missions on each one. Only the hardcore grinders will likely continue after that.

Crisis core is a really easy Plat for anyone interested in that stuff.

Might check it out, in that case. I’ll seal the platinum for Sackboy tonight and I’ll be looking for a few easy, quick and simple experiences to occupy the next couple of weeks.

I will warn you, it can be very boring because you have to complete 300 missions for one of the trophies.

It doesn't take long.

Isn't the secret boss quite hard and requires quite a lot of grinding to get resources to level your stats?

It was the only thing that gave me difficulty but with the strat it's doable for most gamers.

Which strat and did you grind for extra stats?

I think it was to do with an aerial drain and costly punch exploit. I don't remember grinding much. It was basically a battle where you had to be good at dodging, timing and patience.

I’m sure I’ve asked this before but is Helldivers 2 one of those games that you need to play now / soon and it might not be the same experience a year later? I’m not really a multiplayer gamer but given how much people rate this one id want to expeience it at some point. I’ve heard there’s no natrative pwr say but you are collectively as a player base part of an overarching war against aliens.

I'm probably going to get the PS5 Pro. Hoping I can get a trade on on my regular PS5? Dunno about that.

I dropped my controller the other day and now the PS button is really stiff. Annoying as it's the controller that came with the PS5 and I've had no issues with them from day one!

Funnily enough, my missus did the same yesterday. The PS button and the right dpad were affected.

Taking it apart and cleaning/reseating them is nearly always the fix. The controllers themselves are actually quite well made and fairly easy to take apart and repair. It doesn't take long and will likely help if you fancy trying. There's plenty of videos on youtube to help, as long as you just take a little time to be careful it's not at all difficult to do.

Like redlambs has said, there's loads of videos on taking them apart and putting them back together, it's pretty easy if you have the right screwdriver and a box lid to do it in to keep the screws from getting lost.

On s side note if anyone has stick drift you can fix it by taking parts off old PlayStation generations controllers.

Nice one! Thanks, i will have a look for that.
