Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

A bit happy not to have enough cash at the moment, would've probably rushed to buy it as soon as possible myself. I'll just wait till like second quarter of the next year when everything's settled and so on. Having xbox 360, I wasn't aware that there's such thing as 'blue light of death'

I noticed my tenant had one yesterday. The wife thought it was something on the telly the picture was so good. They were playing some NFL game.

It is a mixed bag with Madden 25 some of the gameplay looks great but I have seen a couple of hilarious glitches as well. One in particular where a player completely changed race.

Was it that no.5 dude, 'Jackson' ?

Possibly the best glitch ever btw. Got a link?

5% isn't too bad of a failure rate for he ps4. There's always going to be new products that fail. You also have to keep in mind that pretty much everybody that has a faulty one will complain somewhere, but of the 95% who have it perfectly fine! they probably don't care and aren't bothered to write a review or whatever. Mine is perfectly fine so far, played it for like 4 hours last night, and I touched the playstation to see if it was hot or not and it was perfectly normal, basically no difference to what it normally is, which was surprising. It's not loud at all either, and you can only hear it when you're turning the system off or booting it up, or starting games. Pretty much it, and even then it's not bad.

We should probably stop guessing at numbers. It could be 1%, it could be 12% - we have no idea.

Thing is, most don't seem to be bricked out of the box, plenty are bricking somewhere down the line while running certain applications, updating certain titles, installing the new firmware etc. In one sense, the number seems likely to rise - but in another, it seems like something more than manageable by Sony if they can find the sources.

EU probably has it lucky. I didn't want to pre-order my Xbox One in case of hardware/software issues, but they suckered me in with the free Fifa 14 (which is fecking shit I now realise!) for pre-orders.

I was watching the ign madden review and didn't think the graphics looks much better till they showed clips from 360 version and I was blown away

Things are going great for me on my PS4 if you guys were wondering. It would be extremely frustrating to get one of the faulty ones though. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

It's difficult to tell how much better the graphics are without directly comparing with the PS3 but the load times on this are ridiculously fast.

What games have you got dude?

Glad everything is good with yours. Have you tried out any of the new features to PSN? Streaming or party chat?

So far I've only played FIFA and COD Ghosts, but I also have Black Flag and Battlefield 4. A lot of the online services are down for maintenance right now so I haven't really done any of that, I've mostly just been playing FIFA manager mode honestly.

Does FIFA's gameplay seem/feel any different?

I'm not a fan of the new FIFA on the 360, infact I'd say it's the worst one I've ever had in terms of pure gameplay; including when PES was king of gameplay. I'm getting a download code for it included with my Xbox One - considering selling it, but then it's just such an easy game to pick up and play when you're bored and don't want to get into anything too deep.

Still haven't played the new COD, and only the beta for Battlefield - I'd like to have an easy to pick up game, but neither of them are appealing to me a great deal. Battlefield just felt like 3.5, which isn't a hugely bad thing, but I'm spending a lot of money on gaming anyway without extra pick ups I'm not sure on. Really want to play the 64 player mode, never have before.

And COD just looks like same old shit, but with massive maps and poor spawns (apparently). I'm guessing you've got PS+? Let us know if you get chance to play Resogun or Contrast when the servers are back up :)

You didn't get Killzone? You numpty! It's IMO the best looking game on the PS4.

The gameplay on FIFA is definitely a lot different, it took a while for me to get used to it and I was absolutely terrible at first but I'm enjoying it quite a bit now. I mostly just get FIFA for manager mode anyway, I almost never play online.

COD is definitely just the same old thing, but I knew that when I bought it. The maps this time don't seem that great though, which is disappointing.

As for not getting KIllzone, I've never played the game before so I didn't really know what to expect with it. After hearing a lot of people talking about it while I was in line waiting to get the ps4 and reading a few things on here I think I'll have to get it eventually.

You know what excited for? Final Fantasy on the PS4. It might have shit gameplay, but you can be sure that the graphics are going to be insane.

The last thing Final Fantasy needs is even more focus and attention on its graphics.

Admittedly, I haven't played past 10 so perhaps I'm not in the best position to make this observation.

I'm a bit of a graphics nut. I know people find this hard to believe, but I actually did not mind 13. Once all the gameplay features were unlocked (admittedly very late into the game), it was very good. Really excited about how far the PS4 can be pushed.

Don't get me wrong, if they can get great graphics in there without story/gameplay as a result then I'm all for it. It's just not a priority for me. I somewhat attribute my lack of interest in the most recent entries into the series as this, which is perhaps ignorance.. perhaps the games would have sucked despite the graphics.

It'll be nice to see though - I recently watched that 5/6 minute E3 video on it and it looked cool. More interested in a new Kingdom Hearts though, been so long since I played it.

Weaste, that whole 'turn off LED at launch' promise you made doesn't seem to be true and the DS4 is only getting about 8 hours worth of battery life. I pointed out that it would bother me with reflection in the TV, and some people are complaining about their pets reactions

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it'll come, but you were pretty adamant and dismissed it to get back on track with ripping into Xbox.

LED, but you can turn it off in the settings.

Don't worry, you can turn it off.

I can confirm that there is an option in the settings menu to turn it off!

The light can be turned off! Yoshida was wrong!

Yoshida is in charge of the 1st party games, not the hardware or the operating system. Yes, you couldn't turn it off, they have however changed it. There is now an option to tun it off.

Bebe, gza and anybody else with a PS4..

You guys got some DS4 impressions for us?

Mightily improved over DS3 is the general consensus, but I still see a lot of people think the 360 controller is better. Interested to hear your views, and what your current-gen controller preference is for comparison sake.

I had a 360 and now have a ps4 but I think the ds4 is great. Like it more then the 360 controller which was a great controller. No idea what the Xbox one controller is like though. Battery life is awful is the only negative, lasts a few hours at most of playing before you have to charge it.

Does anyone think that future versions of this console would have backwards compatibility?

Does anyone think that future versions of this console would have backwards compatibility?

Nope but I think both will have remakes of older generation's titles. Plus, Playstation plan to stream the whole library over Gaikai in the future - I think it'll be subscription based, not sure. Current PS+ price is far too cheap and they haven't said that they are willing to stream games for free that you already own.

Seems Microsoft will do the same though they haven't yet confirmed it. They've demoed the technology and said they're interested in doing it but haven't made a decision yet it seems.

That's no good to me, I don't want to have to pay for my same titles again and I don't download games. I would go order my ps4 but I still have like 4 ps3 games I haven't even played yet.

Does anyone think that future versions of this console would have backwards compatibility?

Yes, but not for discs. PS3 has emulators for PS1 (disc and download), PS2 (download), PSP (minis, full PSP emulator not activated).

They are not going to make Full HD remakes of the games they have just finished HD remaking. And as for Gaikai, they are NOT going to set up massive PS1 and PS2 server farms, it isn't happening! The guts of those machines are not even manufactured anymore.

Can anyone direct me to a store where i am able to pre-order and get it on Christmas Day or am i out of luck? :(

At the February reveal, wasn't there some game involving a Knight and towers or something? I get a 'Sir Lancelot' feeling.

I could go and find out, but instead I'll ask here.

What was it? And what's happening with it? Haven't seen it mentioned since and nobody ever seems to talk about it as an upcoming game.

First thing I did actually while updating the console was grab a 360 controller and try to compare the two. Pretty even for me. I still like the shape of the x360 one a bit more, but the d pad and shoulder buttons are much better on the ps4.

The new shape is a big improvement, the triggers don't suck anymore and the thumbsticks feel pretty good. Well done Sony overall. My only minor issue is that the surface that surrounds the dpad and face buttons (X, O etc) is the same shiny stuff on the top of the console. It's a fingerprint magnet, weird choice to put that material where your fingers rest.

Was it Deep Down?

Driveclub delay doesn't look so bad now, they got this thing looking so good now.

Think they did the right thing delaying it. Latest video shows of the dynamic skies they've added in. Looks pretty.

Did anyone get their console sent from America? Isn't the console quite a bit cheaper in the US?

Good stuff Bebe..

Yeah, Drive Club looking much better. I'm really interested in their concept for Drive Club, not sure on how it's all meant to work though. The racers are all online right? And you can race as teams/crews against others and gain leaderboard rankings?

Nah it wasn't Deep Down. I remember there was some obnoxious blonde knight I think, like an animated one and at the end of the clip he said sign up for the BETA now I'm sure.

Not 100% it was the PS4 February reveal but pretty certain.
