They need to bring TimeSplitters back.

I've never played the third but if it was like the second then I'm down!

They need to bring TimeSplitters back. feck CryTek cancelling #4.
Only ever played the second one. But I sure did play that a lot back in the day. Just had addictive gameplay that was fun. How did number 3 compare to number 2?

TimeSplitters 1 and 2 were amazing fun games. Pretty much every day after school we had a bunch of us who would go around each others houses and just play timesplitters all the time.

3 was good as well, not great like 2 was but still good.

Bringing back 4 player coop games that are local split screen would be great. Seems to be a real area that has vanished. Was nothing better than sitting round with mates playing a game together in the same room. This generation, we hardly saw that which was a shame.

Yes! Had some great times with four player split screen over the years, golden gun mode on aztec, ahh the memories!

Nowadays the only multiplayer is with people in other houses, how exactly is that more social?

Now, they want each of the four players to buy a copy of their game so they make more money.

Yeh social gaming is now playing with random people you have never met in real life and posting stuff on the net :(

First big game that brings back a good version of 4 player split screen will make a lot of money. It would entice people like myself and other that prefer to play games with mates at home to buy it.

It's the morning after the night before, and Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has just confirmed to us that current-generation PSN titles won't transfer across to the PlayStation 4. The company admitted last night that PS3 games wouldn't be compatible with the latest console, but has added that it will try to make titles playable "in some form." Because the architecture of the Power-PC-based PS3 and x86-based PlayStation 4 are so different, Sony will only bring across games that don't guzzle the latest console's power in emulation. The executive also said that the company aims to offer server-side and cloud services to offer a wider library of older games, but said that's one for the "longer term."

So psn at launch will be bone dry. There will only be ps3 stuff in there.
They should at least try to port the smaller psn-only stuff so people could use some of their purchases on the new console. Won't hold my breath though.

This is the main reason I got the Wii-u. Great fun multiplayer, and the tablet adds a twist because the holder can see/do things that the tv players can't.

Indeed. Halo CE was another highly entertaining multiplayer. Must admit I've never got into online gaming, and for me at least it's a crying shame the industry has moved in that direction.

Goldeneye and Mario Kart. I'd put playing that as a kid with a group of mates up there with the happiest times of my life :)

Goldeneye split screen  now that was brilliant, me and my mates must have spent about 400 hours playing that.
I love online gaming but id would be nice to have a few decent split screen/multiplayer games other than Fifa.

4 player co-op will be difficult because think about how the game will behave if those high spec graphics had to be split into quarters... if you get a 4 player co-op game, it will most likely be more like X-Men legends, where all 4 players are on one screen at a time.

Me and my friends to this day play Double Dash before a night out, we drink our positions as a means of pre-drinking.

Comfortably the best Mario Kart player on here - I can say that for sure.

Me and a few of my friends got so good at it nobody else would play us

The beauty of it was that because you know the maps so well, you can see where everyone is at any one time and have an idea where they will spawn. It was savage when we would play with someone else, they'd spawn/die spawn/die and end up throwing their controller down in a huff!

At Christmas time in School on the last day they had a Goldeneye tournament on a projector in the main hall and we entered in two pairs and got in different sides of the draw and cleaned up through to the final beating a lot of geeky kids who thought it was going to be there time to shine.

I remember the final now, it was Complex with Proximity Mines, I grabbed the "Base" and secured it and we were cleaning up until I stupidly killed myself with a mine and they grabbed the Base and pinched the victory  There must have been a good 100 people watching, my hands were sooo sweaty it was impossible to hold the controller!

Good times :D

I always liked Perfect Dark multiplayer. Suitcase guns and rocket launchers!
Diddy Kong racing was pretty epic too, Darkwater Beach 4 player vs mode.

On Virus mode on TS2 me and a mate would always play the hospital level. Come up with miraculous dodges in rooms full of people with the virus was great fun. It usually came down to just me and him left at which point one of us (usually me) would double cross the other and leave him to be caught, only to feck up and get the virus myself.

Time splitters 2 was an amazing game. 4 players plus the computer drones wasted many hours of my life. I'd love a HD remake!

I once played a game with my mate, it was good. I would like to do this again.

Point to the places he touched you and we will take it from there.

Playing Virus mode on Timesplitters 2 was hilarious.

Virus on TimeSplitters 2 on the 'desert' level was the best. We used to always do a route from one end to the other and then up the building outside. When all of them came out... jump down and do it again!

Read my input into this thread.

I told everyone what Sony was thinking there, when it was still actually 4gb. Plus it's a reaction to the 720.

I'm far too lazy too scroll through pages and pages of your exchange with Weaste, mind recapping?

God knows what this thing is going to cost to produce, I've seen estimates ranging all the way up to £400+ and here was me thinking that Sony's finances were in dire straits!

Basically I argued with Weaste and said Sony were looking at putting 8gb into the machine and had told devs as such (well before anyone else on the net got hold of that info). It was not surprising to me that the dev kit had 8 in, and I'll explain why:

Normally a dev kit will have more memory (double at least, in the gamecube case it ended up being about 10 times the amount by the end ). The reason for this is for quick prototyping and development. The reason the PS4 one had 8, is because up until recently the PS4 DID HAVE 4GB just like Weaste said.

Now what I didn't know for sure is the reasoning at the time, but I basically said that I thought it'd be due to the engine devs wanting it to match the 720 IF the two machines were closer than expected. If the PS4 turned out that much quicker at memory access and more powerful, you could take the 8gb used in the 720 and do simple memory swapping and other techniques to match up. However it the 720 was more capable in certain areas, this would be hard to do.

Sony have actually listened and put the 8gb in (and believe me it's not as easy as rcoobc thinks, it takes a huge amount of planning), which means the 720 IS actually a threat. This was an educated guess from me, and it is what actually has happened. I do know my stuff ;)

There is another reason it's in there to counter the 720, but I'm not telling a single soul, not even Weaste...

Lambs, being ginger, I have no soul, so feel free to tell me...

I never said it was easy, I said they did it because the Xbox had it! ;)

I was actually going to write that 'of course Sony have done it properly, taken their time with it' and shit like that, but I didn't think it needed to be said.

Basically we both agree Sony 'stuck' 8gb in there because of the threat from Microsoft. We both agree it was 'a last minute decision'. so.....

Oh and I haven't ignored your pm mate, I'll reply when I have time ;)

All reports are saying that Durango will have 8gb but only DDR3, in that case wouldn't 4gb of DDR5 from Sony have been enough?
