Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Sure, it looks good, but I’m hard wired to find anything said by a Middle Aged man in a backwards baseball cap inherently ridiculous and untrustworthy.

Combat looks great.

I feel like him his estranged 9 year old son and he's trying to bond with me.

Swinging looks perfect.

Crazy how no-one managed to match Spiderman 2's swinging on the PS2. That was almost 15 years ago now.

Anyone else played the Detroit: Become Human demo? To say it's very short would be an understatement. I guess there's lots of replay value to see what other paths you could've taken but really, without any emotional investment I'm not sure I can be bothered.

Some random observations. They're still persisting with those awkward right thumbstick controls. I don't know why it annoys me, but it does. Games like Life is Strange or any Telltale series achieve the same using simple button controls so why needlessly overcomplicate stuff? Camera control is also a bit weird, something feels off. It's very pretty to look at but I feel more uncanny valley effect going on compared to some of the other best looking games out there, such as Hellblade or Uncharted 4. Of course, I was controlling an android, so maybe that's the point.

If all of this sounds a bit negative, it's because I've grown a bit tired with David Cage games, and at first glance this one doesn't seem to do anything different than his previous games. I'm not sure I can stand this type of mundane gameplay if the story and characters don't draw me in, and with David Cage's track record... Let's just say I'm skeptical.

I watched a mate play through it twice and I feel similarly to you based on what I saw. I actually quite like visual novel/adventure games but the way David Cage does it doesn't sit too well with me. As you say, this is basically his 4th game in a row and they all seem to be the same thing: constant choice set-pieces. Heavy Rain felt brilliant for its time but The Walking Dead came in soon after and showed how quality of interaction is much more important than the quantity of them.

However, it might turn out to be a masterpiece. Who knows.

So my PS4 is mos def on its way out.

Decided Im going to pick up a Pro tomorrow to replace it.

Feck me, I just upgraded my PC two/three weeks ago.

Wish I wasnt such a nerd. The amount of drink and drugs I coulda bought this bank holiday weekend.

Ah sure look, Yakuza 6 will make do.

Which by the by runs like shite on the base PS4.

There are rumours that there might be a Pro revision because it is out of stock everywhere in the UK which is strange.

If there is, I hope it’s a ultra quiet one.

GTSport better overall package although DIRT is great rally driving.

After seeing some of the later gameplay trailers where the “action” starts I’m worried that it’s going to go the same way as Fahrenheit where David “Emotion” Cage rips up the script and says “feck it, do a big quick time action sequence before the kids get bored”.

I hope the branching story is exactly that though and not the same marketing crap we’ve heard multiple times over before.

Who is buying Detroit?

Anyway Sony executive is saying the PS4 is in its final stages. I still can’t believe it’s been 5 years. Only feels like yesterday Weaste and Cider we’re here arguing non stop. But I’m presuming we’d see the PS5 before 2020. I’m hoping next year personally.

Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 remaster is coming to PS4.

3 remaster is coming August 9th, coming with Sound Track DL Code with the price 3990 yen.

4 remaster will be coming 2018 Autumn and 5 will remaster will come 2019 Spring.

Remaster will offer higher resolution and better frame rates for these games.

Most likely they will come to the West.

How fecking awesome is Bloodborne? After two failed attempts at Souls games (Demon's and Dark 1 back when they were released) I decided to give it one more go. I struggled a lot during my first hours in Yharnam and nearly gave up on Soulsborne for good after running into a wall with the Cleric Beast, but I stuck with it until it finally clicked and I beat him. Now, 3 main bosses and a Chalice Dungeon later, I can't put the controller down. I finally understand what everyone was always raving about. Every other game suddenly feels so... weak!

It's so good I'm tempted to revisit the older games. Maybe not going back to the PS3 but at least the Dark Souls remaster and then Dark Souls 3. I never thought I'd change my mind on this series a full 9 years after failing pathetically on a South-Korean import version of Demon's Souls.

Dark Souls 2 - SotFS is available on PS4, too. Weakest game in the series, in my opinion, but still better than most other games.

Weakest base game definitely. DLC is better than all the others though and adds huge amounts.

Eleum Loyce is one of my favourite Souls areas and has the best Souls boss, in my opinion.

The DLC is definitely the highlight of the game. Fume Knight took me forever to kill.

I prefer the Bloodborne DLC, though. Didn't bother with the Dark Souls 3 DLC.

Really liking the sound of those Detroit: Become Human reviews. Looks like it's alot less of the cringey side of David Cage games and more of the good bits.

Was braced for the worst after reading that but I've been close to buying XCOM 2 a few times and never pulled the trigger so that's cool.

I've read that Trials Fusion can be good fun too.

Not the worst month, in my view.
Those are the 2 games? Nice.

BBC will be showing the World Cup in virtual reality, with PlayStation VR being compatible.

Fans will be able to watch this summer's Fifa World Cup in Russia in Ultra HD and virtual reality as BBC Sport trials cutting-edge technology.

Users will be transported to a fully immersive stadium experience, through headsets, as if they are sitting in their own hospitality box.

All 33 matches broadcast by the BBC will be available for free on BBC Sport's VR 2018 World Cup app.

And the 29 matches on BBC One will also be available in Ultra HD.

May actually dig my VR set out to give this a try.

Ahhh Xcom. Stole so many nights of my youth playing the originals on Amiga. Quite enjoy these new versions too. Worth a play if you've never tried it.

Finished Detroit and I just loved it. It was much better than the reviews implied and there is still tons of paths for me to explore. Plus its a gorgeous looking game.

I don't think Nintendo or Xbox would do cross play if they had the biggest market share either.

If all your friends have a ps4 then you will probably buy that console to play with them online

Well why don’t Sony come out and say that?

The excuse about kids last year was embarrassing. Phil Spencer did say on giantbomb that he would do it even if the Xbox was selling better. MS still update Minecraft on the PS4.

It’s not only the cross play. It’s how your epic account gets reset.

Things have a funny way of changing especially in a new gen. MS gifted Sony this gen. But I certainly don’t think they’d be doing that next gen especially now they working on their exclusives situation and will be looking to release with the more powerful hardware too with BC. They certainly won’t be coming out with the bullshit they did last time around.

The swinging looks good, but the bits when he's suddenly taking himself forward looks like he's flying.

Not as good as Spiderman 2 :(

Not sure what they would gain by coming out and saying that. Probably result in more negative headlines for them.

Spencer may have said that but talk is cheap

MS have made lots of great consumer choices lately. Even if you claimed this was to help catch up, they are giving consumers choice that negates their liklihood of buying an Xbox (putting their exclusive games on PC) so I assume they would do that.
