Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

As much as I love my switch I forgot how much fun telling 13 year olds I’m gonna finger their mum on COD is

My favourite one, put even more time into that one than 4. Prestiged about 8 times before I quit. I reinstalled it when I heard it was going to be free, hoping to feast on noobs. Turns out my skills have completely gone. Either that or it's sweat central.

PS4 has been on the market for quite a few years now, and we've reached the point in its lifecycle where Sony is prepared to introduce a standardized line of budget-priced versions of games. Much as it did with its Greatest Hits/Essentials lines in the past, Sony has announced a PS4 equivalent called PlayStation Hits, and it consists of some quality games for the console.

Games in the PlayStation Hits line will receive specialized box art with a red strip along the top, and the case itself will be red, rather than the usual blue. There are some terrific games included, although the specifics vary by market. In the US, you'll find Bloodborne, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Yakuza 0, Doom, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience. You can find complete lists for US and Europe below, or head to the official website to see the lineups in the US, Canada, and Europe (where specific availability varies by country).

In the US, PlayStation Hits will be priced at $20; in Canada, $20 CAD; in the UK, £16; and in Europe, €20. These will be available at both retail and on the PlayStation Store, with the first going on sale in the US/Canada on June 28 and in the UK/Europe on July 18.

UK list:

  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Batman Arkham Knight
  • Bloodborne
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse
  • Driveclub
  • Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition
  • EA Sports UFC 2

  • Infamous: Second Son

  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
  • Watch Dogs
  • Yakuza

Bit late to the party, but i bought Doom the other day. What a game! So much fun. The gunplay is fantastic and feels great. Movement is fast and smooth, and it's just an absolute blast to play. Played about 5/6 hours so far and loving it.

Could be one i platinum i'm enjoying so much.

Started playing the Dark Souls remaster after platinuming Bloodborne the other day. Unsurprisingly, it's a bit of a struggle at the moment. Everything just feels so slow and clumsy. I miss the regain system and quickstepping through enemy attacks. Still, I'm making better progress than my disastrous opening hours in Bloodborne, and that game eventually became like second nature. I'm sure I'll get better at this one as well.

I just started it tonight and feel the same way.

I forgot you can only roll 4 directions when locked on, incredibly difficult to adjust to after DS2, DS3 and Bloodborne.

Also, the character creator is hideous!

Anyone played/completed 'Detroit: Become Human'? Ridiculous depth to the game, thoroughly enjoyed it,

Im very late to the party but picked up Overwatch and Fifa 18 yesterday.

Bought Fifa purely for the World Cup update.
Bought Overwatch for an even more obscure reason.

Yup. Loved it, especially the Connor bits. Marcus bits though were a bit too preachy.

Anyone else enter the Days of Play competition? The tie-breaker questions were emailed out today. First question is...

Valkyries are some of the toughest opponents to fight in 2018’s God of War and there are nine to beat in total. During May 2018, how many times were PlayStation 4 players defeated by Valkyries globally in God of War?

And the second is...

During 2017, what was the total number of Bronze Trophies unlocked by PlayStation®4 players globally in EA SPORTS FIFA 18?

Haven't got around to playing GoW yet. What are Valkyries, are they bastard throw-the-controller-away hard or what?

They are the toughest bosses in the game. The last one is pretty frustrating.

Started playing the ol' PS4 again last night. Went into Gran Turismo and started playing online for the first time, was so much fun! Won a race at the 2nd attempt, which was surprising as in my mind I always imagined people who race online to be absolute die hard pro's which is why I probably avoided it. Brilliant game, also played the Crash Bandicoot remaster which is so good, and a nice level of difficulty.

Took apart PS4 to clean it

No longer sounds like a harrier. Still not quiet though. Will do thermal paste next

Christ, I dread to think what mine looks like. I've noticed mine whirring like crazy over the last two weeks or so.

Never actually opened one up. Is it straightforward?

Fairly... straight forward

Definitely not as easy as it could have been just to clean the fan. You need the right screw driver set.

Getting to the fan is quite easy, (follow this picture guide) but I wanted to give it a proper clean so I tore it down a little further

I mostly just followed this youtube video, except at 9:54 he seems to be missing one screw and never mentions it... so following his guide doesn't work as you can't take your blu-ray drive out without removing that screw... so I had a look at this youtube video also to make sure I'm not being crazy.. and no there is an extra screw you need to take out.

I used some hair driers to get the warranty stickers off. They still got damaged a bit but not too badly. Will get even more damaged when I re-do the thermal paste so should probably just chuck them.

Can't you just use an air blower? I used one the last time... Really don't fancy opening it up unless I have to.

I'm enjoying the Dark Souls remaster. Took me a while to adjust coming from Bloodborne but I've got a good feeling for it now. I just beat Ornstein & Smough, a fight I had been dreading due to its reputation. With my dex character it was quite the challenge. I can't take more than a couple of hits and my damage output is fairly low, but I just need the mobility to keep my Bloodborne play style alive. The build up to this point has been majestic. I already picked up DS2 and 3 at a major discount on PSN a week or 2 ago, so I'll know what to do. Now if they'd just release a Demon's Souls remaster, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I loved those games at the time (and still own both for Dreamcast). Not sure I can be bothered with the tedious shit like going to work.

I just don't trust they'll get the swinging and falling right

Why?

They're a great studio with good pedigree. Every journalist who has played the game are all unanimous in their praise for the swinging. That's the main thing that stands out about the game.

I'm very confident they'll do a good job.
