Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Thank you.
re: PS4 Slim vs PS4 Pro - I will probably get a more upto date TV (Samsung UHD 4K tv I think they're called). So should I aim for the Pro then? Is it worth the difference?
If money’s not an issue, I don’t see why you shouldn’t get it as it will utilize you’re new tv to its potential. Games will look and run better. It is bigger than the slim if space is an issue though, and you did mention you wanted it compact.

Thank you.

If you want to get the most out of your telly, I would definitely get a Pro. Especially Horizon Zero Dawn looks absolutely exquisite if your telly has HDR, and games will cater more and more to the capabilities of 4K HDR TVs.

Interesting. Well obviously don't want to throw money away (esp as I'm a v.casual gamer) and the 'slim' asthetic appeals.
But yeah if graphics are creme de la creme, then food for thought....

I got a PS4 recently with Fifa 18 and I'm probably going to trade it in because it's garbage. Any recommendations for somewhat new but not completely new games that I can use the £23 in-store credit that CEX say they'll give me?

What kind of games do you like?

Had a quick look. These caught my eye.

Horizon Zero Dawn - £25 (dig deep, it's worth it)
Uncharted 4 - £15
Batman: Arkham Knight - £12
GTA5 - £25 (I can't believe how this is holding its value)
Ghost Recon: Wildlands - £20 (only if you have friends to play it with)
Rainbow 6 Siege - £18
Overwatch - £22
Doom - £10
Fallout 4 - £5
Watchdogs 2 - £12

Star Wars Battlefront II is today's deal on the Playstation Store. Gotta admire their persistence.

I sold FIFA on eBay for £35 not long ago. Thought £20 odd from CEX was a bit cheap... (they did take CoD off my hands for £35 tho)

Yeah I'll probably flog it on eBay actually. Might use the funds to buy some store credit.

Anything with a good story usually. Or a shit story that's laid back and fun.

What are the best older games I can get for cheap? Looking for something with a good storyline. I don't game much and never could justify paying $60/70+ on those games. Looking for something around max £20. I remember my friends back in school talking about Heavy Rain so was thinking that. Or I played Assassin's Creed 2 and one of the Uncharted's before so maybe get the AC Ezio collection or the Uncharted collection. Looking for something along those lines, good story and chill to play.

Is that South Park game any good too?

yeah it's good fun, pretty simple RPG with a lot of typical South Park humour. Worth a cheap buy for 15-20 hours.

Maaaan, going back to the PS4 controller after spending weeks with the Xbone pad is nasty.

Is there a way I can use the Xbone controller with PS4, like some kind of hack or summit?

Is the GT Sport server still down?

Yea there's numerous ways. Google it, should get the info you need.

The Witcher 3 GOTY edition (includes two DLCs which tally to 30 hours of extra gameplay) is about £20 and it's possibly the best game that has released on next-gen. The story

AC is pretty hit-and-miss, Origins and Blackflag are the best.

I think you can buy a Telltale bundle pack (similar style to Heavy Rain) for about £15 on the PSN store.

I haven't been gaming much of late and ended up letting my Nephew borrow my original PS4. Feeling like it would be too much of a prick move to take it back now I am looking at buying a new one, is it worth getting the Pro or is the difference not that great?

Do you own a 4K TV? And will you continue to play all the major releases? I think the general verdict is something like: PS4 original for price (although it may be discontinued now?), PS Slim for storage, PS Pro for graphic quality.

I do, see my general thinking is that I don't care about graphics that much but if they are going to stop making games compatible with the original anytime soon then I may spring for the pro.

Don't get the Pro, I massively regret it. It's extremely noisy and it's bloody massive too.

Yea mine isn't noisy either luckily. I've heard of noisy periods tho....

Just picked up The Division (Only £11 on PS Store) on PS4. Playing it on a Pro, and I must say - the graphics and the setting are stunning.

Mine isn't noisy and it isn't 'bloody massive' for f*ck sake.
It is massive. And mine sounds like a jet taking off at Gatwick whenever I play a 4K enabled game because it's old fashioned fan system can't keep the machine cool.

Here is one of many videos on YouTube where people show how super loud their Pro is:

Yeah, f*cking enormous.

And numerous people in this thread, myself included, own a PS4 Pro which isn't noisy at all. 4K enabled games included.

Pro is only very loud when playing an actual 4K game. Otherwise not at all

And before I got the 4K tv it wasn’t loud at all

It is a bit annoying and I’ve read it’s very common with the pro’s

Maybe you were unlucky. Any time I've seen this mentioned there are just as many people, if not more, who have no issues. I suspect a lot of people aren't leaving enough room for ventilation and / or not bothering to clean the console.

Question for those of you who are familiar with the use of PSN cards for DLCs. If you have a 50$ card and the DLC you're interested in is worth 20$, does the remaining 30$ goes to waste or will one be able to use the code again for another DLC ?

Just go onto the ps store and enter the code. The money will then be added to your wallet and you can use some of it and the change will stay there

I forgot to mention it in my previous post, I cannot use my mastercard for the psn. Do not ask me why as I'm clueless, I've read that the PSN was really strict, that you had type the same exact info that are registered to your card. I just found it tedious looking for the solution and just wondered about other ways. It's only the PSN that is annoying me, all the other sites that I often use (Amazon, AliBaba etc etc..) work just fine.

What he means is when you get a psn card it gives you a code that you enter in the ps store, just scroll down to the redeem code option near the bottom, once you've entered that code it adds the value of the card to your ps store wallet, you can see how much is in your wallet in the top right of the screen when in the ps store. Whatever you buy from the ps store will just be deducted from your wallet amount leaving the rest to spend how you wish.

Ahhh my bad then. This would indeed be exactl what I am looking for. Thank you :)
