Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Finally caved and got a Pro. Moreso because my launch PS4 sounds like it's dying and is loud as fcuk. Plus the supposed PSVR benefits...

It actually looks better in the flesh than in pics. In pics it looks fugly.

I'm able to buy Gran Turismo Sport for PS4 for 30€ (25£). Is it still worth while buying? I was a huge fan of GT1 and 2. Is it still comparable?

read the reviews mate - it's a very different game. they are finally adding in a limited campaign in december - but this isn't a proper gran turismo game. (hence the 'Sport'). Depends if you like online racing etc as well though.

Havent used consoles for bloody ages. Im thinking about getting this and installing in my gf' flat as im there most of the time anyway on weekends. She wants to get into gaming too.

Given this thread im assuming PS4 is good even without 4k tv?

From reviews, PS4 also seems to be a better option than Xbox1

Im pretty happy with mine. But it is pretty loud when actually playing a game in 4K

do you have a 4K TV?

PS4 has the exclusives (Bloodborne, Nioh, Uncharted, Horizon Z etc)
The new Xbox x is the most powerful console but feck all exclusives.

Powerful console doesnt mean the best though, right?
I mean if game play is pretty similar to both, id be happy to go for the better deal long term.

I feel old looking at consoles now and trying to decide :lol:

Really depends on what you're looking for. If I didn't have a console, I'd get a PS4 for the exclusives but that's just me. I love Nioh/Bloodborne as I loved Darksouls & loved horizon/Last of us . Still to play Uncharted 4.
The best deals price wise are on the Xbox one S it's similar spec wise to Playstations Flagship the Pro but around £100 cheaper.
The xbox x is the most powerful console but its around £100 more than the Pro without games.

£199 ish with games for the Xbox S
£299 ish with games for the Ps4 Pro
£399 ish without games for the Xbox X 450 or so with games.

Also the standard xbox /ps4 which I have & not had any issues performance wise so far, but no 4k capability.

Nearly right, but no the S isn't anywhere near the pro.

Mine's quiet. How is yours when it's not 4k?

Nah no 4k yet no need for it. Maybe this time next year. I always jump on new tv tech early when there's hardly any sources, not this time. I still regularly watch sub 1080p content ffs.

Completely silent

I got the pro before the tv and couldn’t believe how quiet it was. Soon as I got the tv and you play a game with a pro patch it’s like a jet engine at times
 
Yep when playing games like Destiny 2 on my 4K TV my PS4 Pro is a lot louder and hotter than my original PS4 and Slim models.
 
Is it Ok for a 41 year old to be looking into deals on ps4 pro? I have 3 kids, a dog and a job with little time to do anything else.. Plus the wife loathes me for looking into this... But i want more ps4 stuff for xmas..

My first run of HZD was 120 hours and I loved every single minute of it. I still haven't found a PS4 game I prefer.

I was away for the last 3 weeks so only started the Frozen Wilds last night. Seems like more of the same goodness so far!

120 hours? What the hell were you doing? I got 100% completion from like 49 hours :lol:
 
Picked up Sniper Elite 3 and 4 for a combined total of £22 there too. A nice cherry on top of the cake for these sales.
 
Will certainly be looking into Ghost of Tsushima on release, made by the same guys that made Infamous second son.
Although it looks like it won't be released for another year or two!
 
Ok so a bit clueless here. Im seriously considering buying a PS4 and a little overwhelmed at that the set up. Ill be plugging it in to a standard HD ready tv and have WiFi in the house. Can I just set up and play? Do I need to plug it in to the broadband modem or can it work off the WiFi without plugging it in?

Also the main gaming will be done offline so should I go for the 500gb or 1tb version? Only €50 difference between the two.

What else do I need to do?
