Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Battery life really doesn't seem like an issue to me, if you plug it in for a quick charge of like 10 minutes you get another hour out of it. You can buy or use any micro USB cable thats a bit longer and continue gaming, you can charge it on standby, you get like 8-9 hours gaming out of it from full.

You can also charge it from something other than the playstation and it will connect wirelessly.

So if you're playing in your living room, plug it into a wall usb charger near your sofa.

I charge mine from my laptop a bit because its always near me when i play.

Dirveclub PS Plus edition for £20. Is it the same game as the disc version just cheaper because of PS Plus ?

It's a real shame Driveclub is overlooked by a lot because of the issues at launch, I totally understand it and the devs have only themselves to blame. But the continued support of free content post-release has been excellent and I wish more devs did it, obviously it has its season pass/dlc content but the free stuff has been excellent too (tour packs, weather patch, photo mode, new country tracks).

Think I'm going to try getting back into it.

Same here, I usually nip on for a race or two every now and again but mostly just been using what gaming time I have trying to complete the games I have in time for the next batch of 'must have's' coming out, I've finished assassin's creed unity (thought it was pretty good tbh) the other day there so that should free up some time for Alien Isolation and Driveclub.

I've loads of games uncompleted atm, The Last of Us, Shadow of Mordor, AC Unity, Driveclub, Infamous DLC thing, oh and GTA, don't appear to have the time, plus, I spend 90% of my gaming time on GTA online

I've still to complete Alien Isolation, Far Cry 4, Lords of The Fallen, not much to go on that I'm basically on the last level but got sucked into other games and just haven't stuck it back on again as well as that I bought The Walking Dead game on a whim last week seeing its quite highly rated and want to have a go at the Infamous DLC too. The next game ill be getting will be The Order 1886 at the end of Feb so I hope to strike at least two of my games off the to do list by then.

I hope they release a demo of the order, I'm quite pissed at how few demos there actually are, I am sure we were told we would be able to demo every game.

The order hasn't been getting great gameplay feedback so far.

Totally agree - especially now that games download a lot faster than they did on PS3.

There hasn't been a new demo for ages.

Does anyone know of any settings for PSTV to try and streamline it a bit? I saw some somewhere and thought to make a mental note for when I got it, but I've completely forgot where it was!
It's pretty shit as it is, pixelates badly, lag that makes playing something like FIFA a sorry mess, the poor resolution makes it look like last gen or worse.
I have it plugged into a wifi extender which has always been fine for streaming movies and downloading music etc so I don't think its that.
As it is, I couldn't recommend it at all, you'd be better off moving the console where you want it, as much of a pain as that is.

Finally a racing game on PS4 that is of interest to me. Though I have seen people complain that they don't think it's a 'proper' racing game, I thoroughly enjoy all the games in the series so far. Can't wait for it. (didn't think it would warrant enough interest for its' own thread).

Is it next-gen only? Hope it is, I'd be interested in it even if its not going to be a patch on the older games. Licensed WRC game without all the Codemasters Dirt bollocks is all it needs to be.

I used to love playing the old proper rally games (not the arcade style Dirt ones) so would look forward to this though I'm usually disappointed these days.

Really want a good racing game for the PS4. Will consider Project Cars, F1, and GT whenever they come out.

Does anyone here have farcry 4? If so do you feel like helping me get my platinum trophy?

I need one more to get this, it involves co-op, where you drive and I do a take down from the passenger seat.

I would be quite surprised if it was. I think every WRC game has been great, all the way from PS2 I think. I actually enjoyed the Colin Mcrae games too, including Dirt 1, Dirt 2 was meh, and I think there's one or two after that, that really don't interest me. WRC series, NFSU2 and Gran Turismo series are IMO the most fun racing games out there. PS4 has been desperately lacking so far with this genre.

I hope its good, nice solid rally racer without any of that role playing crap.

If none of you PS+ subscribers have downloaded The Swapper yet then I'd recommend it before the next batch of games get released in February. Quite a simple cheap and cheerful little puzzle game, a sort of Portal game-play experience. Some of the philosophical ponderers they have in the game are quite enjoyable to read, along with the scenery and music makes for a cracking little game.

Spotify will add further value to the PlayStation 4.(Sony)

Sony has announced that music-streaming service Spotify is coming to its PlayStation consoles.
Eric Lempel, Sony Network Entertainment's VP, took to the PlayStation blog to make the announcement, revealing that Spotify will replace Sony's Music Unlimited service, which closes on 29 March.

Sony plan to bring PlayStation Music with Spotify to 41 markets (including "nearly all" of the 19 countries where Music Unlimited is available) later in the spring. Features "available exclusively" through Spotify on PlayStation Music will be announced closer to launch.
The new look PlayStation Music will also launch on Xperia smartphones and tablets.
Gamers on PS4 and PS3 will be able to listen to Spotify's "30 million songs and 1.5 billion playlists" at the same time as playing games on the consoles. "Want something heavy and rocking for an intense Destiny Raid? How about some old school hip hop while taking the field in Madden NFL? Spotify on PlayStation Music has it covered," reads Lempel's blog.

Music Unlimited subscribers with an active subscription on 28 February will be granted free access to the service until it shuts down one month later.

"Music is a core component of the entertainment offering that consumers expect from Sony, and our goal with PlayStation Music is to provide the most compelling music experiences to the millions of PlayStation Network users around the world," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment in a statement.

"This partnership represents the best in music and the best in gaming coming together, which will benefit the vibrant and passionate communities of both Spotify and PlayStation Network. We're thrilled to make Spotify the foundation of our strategy with PlayStation Music," he added.
Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of Spotify added: "We are incredibly honoured to partner with Sony and PlayStation to give gamers around the world an amazing experience wherever they listen to music. As a gamer and PlayStation 4 user myself, I'm super excited to be able to soundtrack my FIFA 15 Arsenal matches later this spring."

It will certainly be interesting to see how Spotify can be implemented by the games themselves too. Developers could curate their own playlists for players to listen to for example.

I have Music Unlimited and thought it was pretty great. Granted I only used it on my PS4 when playing Driveclub sometimes (cant beat some prodigy blasting to a racing game) or Pro Evo with mates, but I used it all the time on my phone when walking to work/anywhere and thought it was a great service, guess I'll be changing to Spotify now which aint a bad thing at all.

They don't even need Far Cry, you can use the share play function (which is fantastic) and invite them to play co-op.

Spotify coming to PS4 is good news. Thankfully Sony seem to be giving up pushing that music unlimited.

So after around 2 years of not touching a games console next week I'll be purchasing a Ps4. I'll probably get 3 games with it, one definitely being Fifa 15. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me what other two games I should get. I can literally play any type of game apart from the COD series.

Which games would you recommend me too get? I've heard great things about The Last of Us and I've also heard Far Cry 4 and Shadow of Modor are decent games but I'm not quite up too date on which games are out for the Ps4.

Another question I have is do you get a 14 days free PSN trial or is that only with certain consoles?

Definitely get TLOU. After that Infamous, Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry are all good choices.

If you have never been a PS+ member I believe the 14 day trial is downloadable on the store.

The Last of Us is a must, if you like driving games then Driveclub is a hell of alot of fun, or if not any one out of Alien Isolation, Far Cry 4, Shadow of Mordor or Infamous should complete the set.

To add to the suggestions the others have made, you probably haven't played GTAV if you haven't touched a console for 2 years, this is also worth a buy imo. The others are good suggestions, especially the Last of Us, Far Cry 4 and Infamous.

If you want to see daylight then do not get Dragon Age Inquisition, very long and addictive game.

Personally I'd recommend tomb raider definitive edition (can be picked up cheap 2nd hand), think shadow of mordor is cheap too now. As is tlou. A lot of good games at low prices. Tomb raider doesn't get the credit it deserves imo

Surprised nobody has mentioned Watchdogs yet. Currently playing through it and really enjoying it. Can be picked up on the cheap too.

For a cheap price it's probably worth it, but I found that game highly disappointing. Not alone in thinking that either. I wanted so much for it to be good, but it just didn't deliver.

Add sleeping dogs to your list. Fun game.

Watchdogs was a massive dissapointment, I mean you can get it for £10 used these days but even then its not on any list of "get this" for newcomers to the console.
