Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Sleeping Dogs is brilliant, great gameplay, loads to do and the setting was highly original.

Gave me a nice Shenmue-esque fix that only the Yakuza games come close to offering.

Edit: Oops I meant Sleeping Dogs, not Watch dogs - the latter was a pile of excrement.

Been so close to buying Transistor many times. Glad I held off.

Thank you Sony.

Watchdogs was a massive dissapointment, I mean you can get it for £10 used these days but even then its not on any list of "get this" for newcomers to the console.

Completely agree. Played the game at my cousin's. Didn't like it at all. There are so many other games to try for newcomers.

According to the German PS blog these are the games for PS+ in Feb.

4. Februar: Apotheon (PS4)
4. Februar: Transistor (PS4)
4. Februar: Thief (PS3)
4. Februar: Yakuza 4 (PS3)
4. Februar: Rogue Legacy (PS4, PS3, PS Vita Cross Buy)
4. Februar: Kick and Fennick (PS Vita)

Now that is a bloody good month of PS+.

Yakuza 4! :D

Surprised nobody has mentioned Watchdogs yet. Currently playing through it and really enjoying it. Can be picked up on the cheap too.

I've been pleasantly surprised by it. I think what has counted against it was the incredibly high expectation levels Ubisoft created after reveal. Naturally everyone was disappointed when it didn't look as good. I got it for €30 and it's well worth that IMO.

It's a victim of its genre, its tough to make interesting open world games, particularly when releasing in the same window at a GTA game. But it also failed to deliver in almost every area and became a generic game with no redeeming qualities, it was interesting for a spell but the more you play it the more you see its just a mishmash of Ubisoft open world elements from other better games.

I can live with the downgraded looks, that happens. The game itself was incredibly boring.

Was playing Fifa yesterday when I noticed my thumb kept slipping off the left analogue stick. I locked at it after the game and noticed the rubber was beginning to wear a bit. I'm aware that this was a common enough issue but I could have sworn I read on here or another forum that they had began using a different rubber to prevent this. I only got the PS4 a little over a month ago so definitely didn't expect it to be an issue this soon. People had mentioned some sort of cover you can buy for the analogue stick but at €50 a pop for the controllers I expect them to work just fine as they are without spending any more.

The wear on the analogue stick isn't too bad at the minute but I expect it to get worse further down the line. In advance of that I'm just wondering what are the shops policies in terms of replacing the controller? Will they just replace it on the spot?

Yeah it doesn't last long but you can get thumb stick grips for about £2, which are brilliant. Better than the normal grips. Last for ages too. Get some straight away.

If it gets worse you have every right to take it back for a replacement.

Been tempted to buy Transistor a few times, pretty good month for PS+, it's stepped up over the past 3 months.

It was always likely to after a year or so of PS4 being out. Now they actually have a library of games that they can give away.

I'm really tempted to buy a new game to play this weekend even though I still have grim fandango and far cry 4 to play

Cheers. Ya I fully expect them to replace it with a brand new one if/when it gets worse. I still have the receipt so as long as it's within the 12 months I'm hoping it will be ok.

Cheers for the replies lads! Looks like The Last of Us will definitely be getting bought. I totally forgot about GTA so i think the third will be out of that or Far Cry 4. I'll probably look at picking up 1 or 2 more in a few weeks so I'll consider Infamous and Sleeping dogs then!

Anyone else have issues with the analoge stick wearing down and the rubber breaking?

I've only had it less than a month and left analogue already breaking away.

Any solutions that people can recommend?
Common fault, I'd say get thumb grips for the analog sticks this solves the problem for a while. I waited until the 11th month of having the controller then sent it back to Sony using the warranty and got a brand new pad.

I usually don't have high expectations for any game so as to avoid disappointment later on but this game looks good. Even if it's 70% of what Tlou is, I would be so so happy.

Yes, happened to me. Rang customer service and they agreed to replace it in 2 minutes. The problem is having to wait about 45 minutes for that 2 minute conversation. You might be able to sort it via email and save yourself the hassle.

I imagine there's also a time-frame where you're without a controller (if you only have one).

Yeah, you have to send it off. I have to so didn't care, might be better off taking it into the retailer if its still under warranty. They're obligated to replace if for you.

I got it from Game online.

Do they still have physical stores in the UK? I know they were in the shit and closing stores left right and centre.

Yes.

Game have a web chat, go on that. Tell them that its broken, and that you need it fixed. They'll give you a reference number and a telephone number to call their technical department. Call that, they'll give you another ref number which you can take into a shop and get it replaced in store.

A few hoops to jump through, but they were more than decent about replacing my PS4.

Will do, cheers!

Just wondering if someone can clear up something about The Division for me? How is it going to work in terms of a single player campaign? It seems to be very multiplayer focused and has been described as an MMO. Will it be possible to play the whole campaign off-line? I watched this video on Gamespot and even they don't seem 100% sure what the story is.

I don't know if there will be any offline modes but from what I've seen it's an online game.

You're missing out.

To each their own I guess. The guys in the video above are obviously hardcore gamers and they were more into single player campaigns too.

What puts me off is that I miss the lack of a storyline you get in playing a campaign and there are so many annoying c**ts online.

I have played a few racers online and enjoyed them but the likes of GTA and COD online are a no go for me.

I know what you mean but it does depend on the game. Admittedly, Division is a shooter, and shooter online communities tend to be shitty...
