Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

It's disappointing for me that it's not 60fps, but most people don't give a shit, so it that regard you are completely correct for the type of game it is. All of what it is doing though over 60fps, I'm not sure if that was the right decision, but maybe it was, leave the 60fps to GT7.

After reading what they're doing with it and what they're simulating I now understand why it isn't 60fps. Is it worth it? Subjective I know but the old build I played I was happy and it didn't look half as good as it does now and wasn't even a lock at 30fps at that time but I was happy playing it and enjoyed it.

Well, no, doing all of that in the correct way (rather than using smoke and mirrors) is clearly not possible at a locked 60fps. My concern is that will it even be possible to notice half of it when hurtling down a track at 200mph - for example, people in the crowd getting their umbrellas out when it starts raining.

Anyone tried UFC?
I did, the demo at least, impressive graphics, good standup and grappling, shitty submission system.

The fighters seem to be animated strangely though, sometimes they don't seem to move naturally. I preferred to play it through the Vita tbh, didn't notice the player issues through it, but it did make submissions even more awkward.

Anyone tried UFC?

I played the demo for a bit but I couldn't get into it. I'll give it another go later on. I really liked the older UFC games, I put so many hours into the last one, it was great to play against your mates, making them tap out was awesome. Hopefully I can get into the new one, but I didn't enjoy my first play through.

October has a ton of games that will most likely be better than Evil Within.

I've finished all chapters now. Missed a few trophies but they'll be easy enough to get. Hope the makers do either a sequel or different game in a similar sort of style

Yeah, I missed a few the first time round too. Yeah, I hope too that they do a sequel. Really fun and excellent little game.

Sony is still struggling to manufacture enough PS4s to meet demand in Europe.

“We haven’t yet caught up with the initial demand across Europe.” SCE UK MD Fergal Gara told TrustedReviews. “We are still dealing with the day one market. We are very close to being in a full supply situation, but we are not quite there yet.

“We may have lost some sales. There is no update on PS4 sales figures right now, but suffice to say it is still selling, and selling very well.”

The situation is apparently better in the UK, where the console remains mostly available, but other key territories are still falling short.

Added Gara: “We are in a bit better shape in the UK, but there are countries that are still selling out every last unit that drops into the market on a weekly basis. A good example at the moment would be Germany who had phenomenal sales figures last week, but they just haven’t had enough stock so far.”

I have yet to see a PS4 in a store in the Netherlands - all the main stores and websites are still in "call to join the waiting list" mode with an estimated 1 month wait...

I went back to the UK a couple of weeks ago and was stunned to actually see them on shelf in a store!

I will be getting one off Amazon in a few weeks I think - don't imagine the situation here will be cleared up by then.

I played the demo but didn't enjoy it much. I think I will skip.

Finished the single player of Tomb Raider Definitive Edition. Excellent graphics and gameplay as far as I am concerned.

Indeed. I took my dear time with that game, as there's little else of its kind available on the PS4 at the moment. Anybody that says that this gen isn't much of a leap graphically compared to last gen should check out this game. It's not huge, but it's still a vast enough enhancement.

What's the rush, there's nothing to play. :/

V true - am waiting for GTA V, Madden 15, FIFA 15 - so not sure what games to even get when I buy the console. No point getting FIFA as new one is around the corner. Might go for BF4 I suppose.

There's plenty of games to play. Fifa, Battlefield, Tomb Raider, Infamous, Watchdogs, Wolfenstein, Assassins creed among others. Plus a host of cool indie games already such as Outlast, Don't Starve and Child Of Light. Unless you're playing games like eight hours a day, there's still plenty to keep a new console gamer busy.

Getting the PS4 early next week with Killzone included.

Which other games should one buy? Seems like there aren't a lot of games included so far really.

Infamous and Watch Dogs would be my recommendation. Those are the two musts in terms of big games.

I would suggest Wolfenstein over Infamous. Infamous looks great, but it's not much of a game. The second one is a lot better.

The game part of it is amazing imo. The story is basically nothing, the it's ridiculously fun to play. Graphics a you said as well are very good, but that's secondary really.

Check out the PSN store, there's lots of great indie games on it. Get a PS+ membership, it allows you play online and you get free games once a month. Check out Assassin's Creed 4, Infamous Second Sons and Watch Dogs.

Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed IV (even though I haven't finished the latter) are the best games with a story line. Infamous is decent even if its story isn't anything spectacular and Wolfenstein is supposed to be pretty good (I'm yet to play it). Watch Dogs is great, get it.

Was thinking about that one - I liked the previous ones

It's very good. It's next on my list - when I've finished running around lovely Chicago doing side missions in Watch Dogs (story has been finished) I'll probably move on to Assassins Creed IV, inFamous could wait another 2 weeks (it's a 7-hour affair with inFamous anyway and I've done about 25 per cent of it already anyway).

Thinking about finally picking one up to play The Last Of Us. What else are you guys looking forward to in 2014 on PS4?

I'm envious of you, getting to play & experience that game for the first time is someting special. As for other games in 2014, Alien Isolation, Destiny (This was a 'maybe' but the Alpha convinced me), Driveclub, Evolve and The Evil Within are games I'm definitley gonna get. Also, depending on funds & gaming time available I might check out Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Can you play video content through an external drive or is it still not available on the ps4?

Cool well I'm looking forward to playing it at some point when it's released.
I think that by the way the alpha test went, Destiny will be the big one for most.
Yep I'll probably get Destiny

What's the deal with Destiny? Mainly multiplayer like Titanfall, or can you go solo and not loose out?

I would suggest Wolfenstein over Infamous. Infamous looks great, but it's not much of a game. The second one is a lot better.
Also, what's the deal with Wolfenstein, is it very old school/throwback, or is it more modernized based on old Wolfenstein?

TLOU here as well, possibly GTA V, been humming and hawing that, Drive Club if it turns out to be fun too.

Aye, you can go solo and explore/do story missions by yourself. People can be dropping in and out of the world/area which you're exploring though and it's pretty seamless. There are dungeons/pvp modes for people who like that sort of thing.

A quasi modern take on old school Wolfenstein, with a quality story line and actual characters.

Killzone shadowfall isn't worth it, its just a graphical experiment with no thought put into the story. Gunplay isn't fun either, for me.

Fifa 14 is a must if you're into football games, it's being hated for no reason, it's a great game on manual settings and I love how the matches flow and goals feel satisfying.

Tomb raider is good, not a must if you have played it earlier. Same for the black flag.

Undecided on Infamous, I think gameplay is pretty enjoyable but it just isn't a great game.
