Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

For those who don't have a PS4, Gamestop is selling the the white PS4 console with Destiny for £369.97 - link. FYI, it's a pre-order.

NFS Underground 2 is one of the few open world racers I properly enjoyed.

That game had an absolute winning formula. For the life of me I will never understand why they didn't capitalise on it and bring it onto PS3 at least and chose to go down a different route with their series. Definitely one of my favourite racing games.

I just wish open world racers had a story, no matter how cheesy it is, I just feel it adds to the game. Shame no one does it.

You realise it was you who went completely off on a tangent and started talking about something irrelevant? Anyway why is Burnout the rule and not the exception? Are lots of other open world racing games 60fps are they?

It's a comment people keep making "well, it's open world", and I can see you coming out with that shit with Forza Horizon 2 - it will be something along these lines "Well of course it doesn't look as good as DriveClub, it's open world init?". I'm just nipping that shit in the bud now.

It'll be a better game though.

Graphically, I think DC looks more impressive. Given that I prefer a more arcade feel to my racers I suspect I will prefer it.

I have never played a Forza Horizon game before, so I will likely be picking up both.

So does Forza. I like the multiplayer elements in both.

The proof will be in the playing, as always.

I just don't find there's anything to hook me to Drive Club. All the buzzwords were nice at first about social integration but it's what last gen games have been doing for years, and holds nothing against The Crew and Horizon in that regard.

Although it's not full sim Lance it's probably very similar to Horizon on default without changing the assists. It's not arcade either - it's not about stupid drifts and nitrogen boosts. It's not open world, there's no novelties (story mode, events, barn find), it's standard AI (not drivatars) - I just think it lacks when compared side by side with both The Crew and Horizon 2. The most important thing is how it handles though and I haven't played it.. if it drives well then the rest might not matter, and the videos I've seen it looked decent enough in that department.

Will it support skins the same way Forza does? I assume so - I've got some great car designs on Forza 5.

I am not the biggest fan of open world racers, to be honest. I prefer NFS: Hot Pursuit to Most Wanted, for example. I bought Burnout Paradise way late on but I couldn't get on with it at all.

EDIT a story mode would definitely interest me, though.

Get all the trophies, it's easy. I played it through a second time because I missed one or two trophies first time around. Took me 4 hours or so. But excellent little game indeed.

Busy playing Titan Attacks too from time to time. Enjoying it.

Yeah, I don't condone not playing The Last of Us under any circumstances. Still, this is a good way to finally do it.

Fair play, but you do realise entertainment is the main point of videogames, to the customers at least?

Well, we've been through this before. You might have fun playing tiddlywinks, I don't, yet I have fun fecking live chickens, and you find such a passtime repulsive and yawn inducing. Whatever floats your boat, just don't try to express your subjective opinions in an objective way.

And it's pretty irrelevant how many fps you get fecking your chickens, long as you enjoy it.

I've finished all chapters now. Missed a few trophies but they'll be easy enough to get. Hope the makers do either a sequel or different game in a similar sort of style

For a none open world game Driveclub sure is rendering a lot though. Pretty much everything you see on any given track, including in the distance seems to be rendered in completely. Even as high as the bloody clouds according to an article on EG I think it was.

It seriously blows any other racer out of the water in graphical terms.

It's disappointing for me that it's not 60fps, but most people don't give a shit, so it that regard you are completely correct for the type of game it is. All of what it is doing though over 60fps, I'm not sure if that was the right decision, but maybe it was, leave the 60fps to GT7.
