Sony Worldwide Studios Boss Shuhei Yoshida Apologizes for PS4 Game Delays, Explains Why It’s Happening

So I apologize for some of the games we pushed back, but when people ask me “We’ve been saying the PS4 is very easy to develop for, why are teams taking time?” The reason is, it’s very easy to develop games on the PS4, except that PS4 can do so much, that a team’s ambition is much higher. What they are trying to achieve, they are challenging, y’know, something new.

More realistic graphics, social connectivity, or seamless integration of single-player and multiplayer. And they are encountering new kinds of challenges, so they have to take more time than they anticipated.

But luckily, more people are now more understanding and more accomodating for the needs of the development team. And they (gamers) say they’d rather wait to play the best game the team can make rather than play a rushed title; because each development is such a big effort.

Why is the battery life so poor in the dualshock 4?

Have you got the remote LED set to dimmed? That will help.

I agree though, it feels like it needs charging often, but I have to admit I only charge it whilst playing, so I never fully charge the remote then play.

yes, I have it at dimmed. I used to only charge my dual shock 3 once every week (I only play around 3hours per day max) but I've so far charged this new one within 2 days.

It isn't. My kids both played Knack in co-op last weekend for about 8 hours and I didn't need to recharge the controllers. Then I recharged them.

It seems as if you just picked up a NeoGAF thread and lumped the complaint in here. Do you have a problem with your DS4 battery? Just to be sure, take a photo of your DS4 to prove that you actually have one.

I don't need to prove anything. And it wasn't a complaint, I was asking why the battery life is poor. Stop being weird.

So you mean that you don't have one, so you don't actually know how the battery life is?

You've basically read this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=837782 and then decided to bring the issue up here?

I don't have this issue as I've already explained to you.

Riiiight. Look at yourself, a grown man getting touchy on an Internet forum over a stranger asking something about a game console.

Are there any games out yet, that are compatible with the sound coming out of the controller?
Yes Infamous second son when the phone rings the ring tone comes out of the controller, and when you spraypaint it sounds like a spray can.

Battery is definitely far worse than ps3 and xbox controllers.

The ability to charge the controller on standby makes it a non-issue personally, the cable is long enough to game and charge but usually I take that as a hint to stop playing.

Am looking to get a PS4 next month and just wanted opinions on games to get. I will be getting GTA, Madden 15 when they are released, but was more thinking about which current games to get. Leaning towards Assassin's Creed, BF4, Watchdogs...

I would get FIFA, but guess there's little point if FIFA 15 is out soon. I assume most of the FIFA lot will buy the latest version?

I would wait until August / Sept to buy it, but will be in the UK next month, so will pick one up there. They are still out of stock in most stores in the Netherlands (!), so figure it makes sense to get one when I can.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Also - for those that have got a few games, how much space do they take up on your HDD. I replaced the HDD on my PS3 and am thinking of doing the same for the PS4 - maybe going for a 1TB drive (would then use the original PS4 drive as a portable HDD).

As I said, they need to get the PS3 down in price otherwise if the PS4 did everything it does then nobody would buy a PS3. It's coming.

I'd recommend that anyone who owns a PS4 replaces the stock drive. The whole disc gets installed. As for sizes, examples of digital downloads are: Infamous 22GB, Killzone 38GB. With all of the PS+ stuff you'll run out of space quite quickly.

I just delete games off the hard drive when I finish/get bored of them. It's not like you can't just reinstall them if you want to play them again.

I watched one of those for The last of Us. I could barely tell the difference.

I put in ac4 for first time since April as I purchased the DLC for it a while ago and installed it.

It says cannot access network features as application is updated. I've looked in uploads and downloads and there is no sign of any updates happening at all

Any ideas?

The only downside of this, is it means GTA 6 is probably a long, long time away.

It always was. Rockstar have a few games coming, I think Red Dead is the next big release. Maybe the Agent even?

It's interesting how people treat Rockstar as a single studio. It isn't! Rockstar North make GTA it has nothing to do with the studio that makes Red Dead or The Agent (This one is a bit complicated). In Scotland they make GTA.

Don't get technical, I know Rockstar is spilt into different studios, but they won't release their games all at once. Who even says the Agent is in development?

Well it was at one point.

It's all rumours, no one seems to know anything about. Last I heard it was cancelled, but we'll wait and see. Rockstar usually bring one or new IP to every gen, so maybe there's hope. Wasn't the Agent meant to be a Sony exclusive?

Rockstar North are deving The Agent though, or were...

@PlayerOne Take-Two renewed trademarks for the game this year, so they still have plans for it at least.
