Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Oh I'll be getting the ones I said previous, one of project cars or driveclub. Assassins creed, as battlefield (forgot that was this year).

Destiny is a possible. Dragon age too, but doubtful.

Oh the golf club I will probably pick up too. Sure it's out this year.

After all the shit DriveClub has been through i'm probably just going to stick to the PS+ version unless it's fantastic.

It looks good, but so far Horizon 2 looks as good to me - and that's open world.

In terms of features.. there's only one 'next gen' winner out of the two. I think The Crew delivers the original social promises of Driveclub better too.. I was really disappointed when I realized all their original stuff turned out to be 'can you do this corner better than your mate' and 'every race you get xp which goes into a club pot'.

There's just no comparison between Driveclub and Forza Horizon 2 in terms of visuals. Unless you have some type of Microsoft Glasses on or something... ;)

The Crew has the potential to be fantastic, in terms of scope and premise its brilliant. However, when I played it (nearly a year ago now to be fair) it was horrible. The physics/handling was just dead, no feeling what so ever and thats something they really need to sort out. Especially as its released this year. If they can get that right, then it has the potential to be a very good game.

It definitely isnt MS goggles, I have no problem saying PS4 games look better generally.. horizon is open world so it shouldn't look as good.

However, it could be bias, perhaps it's a case of me feeling Drive Club captured me with buzzwords but has since failed to convince me whereas I'm totally behind everything about Horizon. Driveclub is closed track whereas in Horizon I'm looking at the draw distance or the landscape and knowing I could drive there if I wanted.. off road or on. Again, perhaps its a little like Ryse vs Infamous..

It's what a next gem racer should be. Track AI are full of drivatars which race like real people not monotonous boring steady drivers who stick to the lines. Those drivatars are also in the real world.. youre not just racing against them in events but have these lifelike ai driving around the cities and countryside. The ability to be progressing your single player driving through the open world and press a button and within 2 seconds youre still where you, in the same car, you never stopped driving but now youre online? It's great. Weather, night/day and rumble triggers are huge bonuses too.

What kind of statement is that?

"You don't like the games I like!"
Not at all, but 2 games are just revamps and a year old (I loved both games). The other is FIFA which is just an annual game

My point is there isnt an awful lot out there to get excited about

What a depressing want list this is for next gen

Too true, but sure what can you do. I had an inkling that the PS4 would have a slow start though but invested in it early regardless because I was desperate to see off my noisy, possibly dying Xbox 360.

TLOU and GTA can be argued to be the best games of 2013 and to give them a next gen upgrade should make them even more fantastic than they originally were, i definitely think that's something to be excited about.

Disagree. I think there are plenty of games to be excited about tbh. I'm more hyped than last years E3.

Agreed. I will play through GTA again and if they release new DLC along with it then that would be perfect. I really want them to add Las Vegas and new heists.

I dunno. The below will be very good games.

Destiny
Alien: Isolation
Evolve
Dragon Age 3
Farcry 4
Assassins Creed Unity

I'll add Sinper Elite 3, Shodow of Mordor and LBP3. There are a few more I left out.

There's still quite a few games penciled in for 2014 though. Which is why I thought Randall was having a go. Sorry!

Anyway, here's a list of games which are penciled for 2014, it's not bad you know.

The Last of Us Remastered
DriveClub
Little Big Planet 3
UFC
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Sniper Elite III
Diablo III Reaper of Souls
Madden 2015
Destiny
NHL 15
FIFA 15
Alien Isolation
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
NBA 2K15
Battlefield Hardline
Evolve
The Evil Within
Assassins Creed: Unity
GTA V
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
The Crew
Far Cry 4

This is without all the indie games too, which I'm sure they'll be lots of between now and the years out.

Horizon is open world, and shouldn't look as good and thats the reason why it doesn't look as good. Hence my comment. I wasn't talking about which was the better game, I was just saying that the visuals aren't even comparable.

Hotline Miami 2
The Witness
The Telltale Walking Dead series

Numerous Indie titles that will fill in the gaps too. 2014 has a pretty damn good lineup if you ask me, especially given how strong 2015 will kickoff (The Order, The Witcher 3 etc).

I'll take that any day.

I'm sure I've missed games from there, it was taken from various places.

First 18 months of a new console, the games we should be getting are very very good.

October will be a lovely month.
A bloody expensive one!

Yeah I know you weren't. Sorry, I was just trying to explain that maybe there is some bias going on but it's because I'm already so invested in it and otherwise cautious about DriveClub.

And if by magic I came across some screens for Driveclub in the wet. That last sentence is full of innuendo, I know.

FarCry 4 on Playstation, you can have your friends play co-op with you, even if they don't have the game themselves. Pretty cool

I played the first one but lost interest after that. How was number 3? Is it all the same type of story?

#2 and #3 were different types of games + stories from the first. #2 was good but got repetitive. I thought #3 were one of the better games of last generation, was an OK story but am looking forward to #4

I'm not sure about the game releases. e3 didn't wow me as much. It was just more sequels mostly and nothing really new was showcased. They good games, but I'm not mega excited about them.

I'm still waiting for that Gears of War 1 moment, where you know next gen has arrived. At the moment with so many games being cross gen, we haven't had that moment.

Yep, makes every other console racer up to this point look like a generation behind. Until Polyphony Digital show up that is.
Weaste, I read somewhere a few weeks ago that gt7 was expected to be released this year, probably before even driveclub maybe. There was no mention of it on e3, any news on gt7,trailer or screens?

Wherever you read that was talking tosh.

No way Sony would be foolish to release two racers near the same time.

After the delay in DriveClub and the publicity around it, i think Sony probably have tactically delayed GT7 till next year.

IMO GT7 won't be out until 2016. They like to take their time with these.

Well when i say GT:7 it'll be GT:7 prologue. The talk that it was a remastered GT:6 with some added cars/tracks

That dash view early on in the video was horrible! Doesn't look like much spray comes off from the puddles, it's like they're driving on a dry track. Maps look visually impressive though, but I don't really like these type of games, I prefer a more realistic damage model. Any idea if they're doing a more hardcore gamemode?

I think all the new footage from Driveclub is fantastic, got pumped for it again after the delay and lull of information/videos. Photo mode coming with the patch which introduces the weather too it would seem. Expecting some cracking photo to come judging by ones I saw for Infamous.

The weather system will not be implemented till after launch.

Spray from puddles (which was shown in the snow map) is just a simple collision particle effect. It's got nothing to do with dynamic weather. You can see in places there are some particle effects, just really not that much.

The weather system is no where near finalised though. This is just an early look at what they're planning on doing.

Ah, that could happen. Although I think it'll be Prologue at the turn of 2015/2016 and the actual game late in 2017/early 2018. And it'll be a let down.
