Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Try not unplugging it when it's on or in standby mode, it gets very tetchy about that.

I've not unplugged it since buying it, just leave it in stand-by mode each night. This randomly happened as I tried to read a message I received whilst in-game. Hopefully won't happen again.

I do all the time, think i'm not used to the standby/off yet....

Then against least it only takes a few seconds to do a system check.. where as the PS3 took about 10 minutes.

Anybody else getting the ce-34878-0 error message on fifa14 when playing career mode? It seems to be a widespread issue and is incredibly annoying.

I won't even be able to afford one for myself when I get back to the UK. Sorry babes.

Was looking at those phone deals where you get a free PS4, figure I might as well just buy one outright though. Where are they in stock at the moment, if anywhere?

Sony have announced they will be supplying the uk with tons of stock in the next week so y should be able to walk into a store and get one

Also announced Playstation now:
Today at CES, Sony revealed PlayStation Now, an all-new games streaming service that will allow "classic" PlayStation games to be played across current-gen PlayStation hardware, as well as directly on other non-gaming platforms. PlayStation Now harnesses the power of Gaikai, the company Sony purchased for $380 million back in the summer of 2012.
The idea behind PlayStation Now is simple: you will ultimately no longer need to keep a PSone, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation 3 around to experience games from those consoles. PlayStation Now will allow streaming of classics from those systems to not only PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, but to televisions, tablets, and smartphones.
For launch, the games available will no doubt be limited, but Sony's Andrew House did confirm that Naughty Dog's The Last of Us and Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls will be among the titles available to play without a PlayStation 3 at CES in order to test out the service.
It's unclear what the specific roster of games will be when PlayStation Now launches, and whether it will basically be a conduit for what's already available for PSone, PS2, and PS3 on PlayStation Network. It's also unclear how much this service will cost, and if it'll be wrapped-in to already-existing services like PlayStation Plus. Either way, this effectively solves PlayStation 4's native lack of digital backwards compatibility.
We're awaiting further details about PlayStation Now, but in the meantime, expect a closed beta for the service to begin later this month, with full service rolling out to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and other electronic devices this summer

Playstation Now does look very interesting, I remain skeptical as to how well it will work but if they get it right its a pretty huge deal.

Compulsory Gies salt required though.

Yep. I'm really excited about this.. I think it'll take the service a good 2 years+ before it's hitting it's stride but it's definitely going to be a big offering.

We already knew they were doing this, but I'm surprised it's going to be rolled out this summer. Do we know if that's just for the US, I assume it is?

Microsoft won't be far behind as they already showed Halo 4 being streamed from Microsoft servers to a laptop and a Windows Phone. The Playstation library is huge though, and easily a better offering than that of the Xbox.

It would indeed for awesome if Nintendo did it - they certainly have the games. They'll probably forever be playing catch up here though; their virtual console offerings on the Wii U is dire and they struggle to incorporate online well into their games/system so I don't see it happening.

The library that is compatible with it is going to need to build up for one.

Mostly though, connection.. consumers are going to need to have decent connection speeds to stream and play these games with low latency - have you ever tried playing a game on OnLive? But on Sony's end, they already struggle with large numbers accessing PSN - nevermind a ton of people streaming games from their servers. They're going to need to add a ton of servers and improve on their whole infrastructure surely?

I admit I haven't got any expertise in this area, and I'm making some assumptions based on their other services (PSN) and other companies (OnLive).

2 years (at least) to hit it's stride anyway.. not 2 years before we'll be getting any benefit from it.

Is it ok to buy a PS4 in the US of A .... ???
I could get one for just over 250 quid! But if I buy it here in Iceland it will be over 400!
So I could get couple of games and a xtra DS4 for it for less...
But if it breaks down it could take a while to get it replaced..
SO whats the verdict is it worth it??

PS Now sounds very exciting. Hopefully it comes to Europe at some point this year.

I haven't read it completely as I'm half asleep but are we expecting this service to allow online play from ps3 games (recent stuff like GTA for example) or is that a long shot given it's a 'streaming' service?

It should be able to play all games fine I think. Question is whether PS Store purchases will transfer over, have they said anything about that yet?

About 1.2m more than Xbone (which is in stock everywhere). That's fecking impressive sales for basically one month. Their forecast was 5m by March, they are probably past that already now, and you can't find one to buy most of the time, they probably could have sold 7m+ if they could have made enough of them.
