Players you had forgotten existed

would love to know the full story here. I really hoped he would push on and be part of positive changes at utd. few fairly mediocre loans but always struggle to understand why he is vilified here and among utd fans. Local lad seen a bit too much money early and thought he was some sort of gangster rapper but surely most adults can understand this is just a bit immature and the might actually be a player under there someone could take a punt on. might not have been great quality but he had something most our current 1st team have not...and that's balls. always thought he done a great job clattering people when they needed it. maybe I don't know the full story about such a demise

He never was good enough. Overrated youth player who believed in his own hype way too much. When you have to praise a player because he 'done a great job clattering people' then there isnt much of a player there at all.

to the extent that he doesn't deserve a club? maybe not a place at old Trafford but surely he has enough about him for lower pl or championship? and I do think the od clattering worked well for plenty of others with limited ability

I liked him to be fair. Obviously easy to say this but he could have been a squad player under Amorim as he looked more like a wing back to me.

Did you forget Nicky Butt?

I havent seen him play much but he had a little bit more to offer than just clattering opponents.
Literally every other person on the pitch was there to do the "more than clattering" and Mr Butt Esquire was exquisite aand a true Don at it. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Brandon Williams

Wtf is going on there, he's in his early 20's. He's a decent footballer and he's without a club. Something has to be wrong with him.
I have heard second hand from a friend who is mates with an Ipswich first teamer that he was a pretty troubled individual. Perhaps needed better influences around him etc without going into it too much.

Same guy also said the squad expected he and Tuanzebe to offer a lot more than they did....

Demir, that young Turkish winger that played for Barca in their Braithwaite/Luuk De Jong skint years.

Kristoffer Olsson. used to have fairly active and fun thread here, currently in Midtjylland.

Olsson got so ill he almost died, didn't he?

Hopefully he is doing well. Not sure what his ceiling was but think he would have been in a better league than Denmark with more fortunate health

Ryan Sessegnon just got an assist in the FA cup and I remembered about him for the first time in years. Left Fulham to Spurs in 2019 for 25m, was extremely hyped as a teenager and looked like a sure next thing, came back to Fulham for free this summer, still only turning 25 this year. What happened with him?

Substance abuse issues allegedly. He was caught huffing nitrous oxide through a ballon in his car near Carrington. Sorry state of affairs.

Gaizka Mendieta. He was one of the best midfielders in the world in the late 90s and early 2000s whille playing for Valencia.

Joey Barton. Remembered him when in another thread people were talking about Alan Shearer who went to Newcastle insead of United. How he kept getting employed by clubs I`ll never know.

That team Ireland had at the turn of the millennium was pretty handy

Dependent on Roy Keane, who got sick of the 'Harry Ramsden Challenge' mentality of the FAI.

Two sides to the Sapian row and both valid, but the FAI's mismanagement of Ireland is Glazerite in scope.

Few others from the squad: Nick Colgan, Mark Kinsella, Stephen Reid and, from that era but maybe not in the squad: Mark Kennedy.
