PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

Liverpool have now committed more 13 fouls, more than either team in the whole of our game yesterday, and 5 more than Ipswich now.

We had two yellow, Fulham had three, Ipswich have three, Liverpool have zero.

Ipswich holding up well considering this won't be thier strongest starting XI. They've still got thier new keeper, Phillips, Smodizc, Hirst and Johnson to come in. Enjoying watching them play the way have done since McKenna came in.

The slot effect

Have Liverpool had a shot yet? I can't remember them doing anything in attack.

Surprise surprise they keep avoiding yellow cards.

TAA with an poor shot and given an excuse by the commentators as always.

Liverpool will be fine this Season, they won't be in a title challenge but will finish comfortably top 4. They have too much firepower and still have a decent defence. I imagine they'll make a few signings too.
Nah they are perfectly primed to flop. New manager from the Dutch league where they often struggle adapting, replacing a legendary manager for them. Their main 3 players are all over 30, prime ages to decline after they lose that bit of sharpness and motivation because of where they are as a club. They have a clear hole at DM which they seemingly aren't addressing, and not signing anyone at all sends a bad message.

Long term they'll be fine, don't think they will be managed as badly as we have been the past decade. But their summer and squad situation is extremely similar to ours when Moyes took over.

It's ridiculous, referees love them.

A few of their players like VVD, Salah, and TAA are out of contract at the end of the season as well so will have to be sold in January if they dont want them to leave for free next summer, they are in a bit of a mess in honesty

Yet all the pundits and “experts”‘ are convinced they’re a top 3 team.

Ipswich the better team, they can win this if they keep 11 players on the pitch.

I'd worry more about them being able to keep this - both through the games and across the season

A lot of promoted teams look good early as they're all excited but the intensity eventually shows. Hope they can keep it up though, but just could do without shots of Ed Sheeran every few minutes
They've got a few more signings to add to this though, and they have a core that have been together for a back to back promotions. I wouldn't worry about the work rate, more the talent in both attack and defence and so far the defensive side looks capable.

That's it lads keep the Ed Sheeran updates coming. I'm on tenter hooks as to whether he'll watch some of the second half and still make his flight.

Does he have speedy boarding? The intrigue

RWAK seems very positive with the Slot effect. I am not seeing it though.

Think Leif Davis will be in the England squad sooner rather than later. Managed Salah very well in the first half. If he can get to double figures in assists again than he's nailed on I'd say.

It’s just like us with ETH - very little people outside the United fan base can see it. People tend to be blindly optimistic

It’s been a terrible first half from Pool and a good one from Ipswich, McKenna might be the real deal.

Our first half against Fulham was a lot more controlled than this Liverpool first half though.

No doubt, I’m not comparing these games, just the sentiments. Home vs away, thirds season in charge vs first game, it’s quite different. Happy to see them very disjointed though and happy to see Ipswich so collected

13 fouls and no yellow. Imagine if this has been at Anfield, Ipswich would have gotten a red card.

He’s been brilliant. 21 assists last season according to transfermarkt.com which is ridiculous from left back.

What? After the first 15-20mins we were very dominant and could have easily been 2-0 up. Our finishing let us down.

I don't remember Liverpool creating a single decent chance.

And we actually created chances
I actually think our chance creation was a bit exaggerated due to Fulham mistakes. The Garnacho and Brunos first were both due to Fulham errors rather than us opening them up but in general we were a lot more in control than we have for a long time.

Hoping this is just a first day pumped up performance by Ipswich but they seem a decent side. Going to be tough when we go there in November. Will be a physical battle.

New manager. No new signing. Getting rejected left and right.
Does Liverpool finally enter their moyes' era? Please do
