PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

Liverpool's squad isnt that good as they have no DM's and their best players are all in their 30's, I think it'll be a long season for them and Slot who isnt really qualified for a job big and wasnt first or even 2nd choice for the job may well be gone before the end of it.
Fair points. What I would say is the age argument only really comes into effect if we anticipate a massive drop-off this season. If the likes of Allison, van Dijk and Salah can retain very high levels then Liverpool will probably do fairly well.

I suspect Allison and van Dijk will still two of the best PL players in their positions but admittedly I wouldn’t be surprised to see Salah drop a level.

DM is their main area of weakness but that was the case last season and they managed to get by with a fairly average Endo. Not saying the shouldn’t address it but I look at the other clubs outside of City and Arsenal and they still have more ‘holes’ than Liverpool.

I’ve been thinking something similar. When they beat us in the friendly I wasn’t overly impressed. Felt like they sucker punched us, were clinical but didn’t have the same sort of controlling of games of Klopps pool. I think this could be a rough season for them

Great to see Ipswich haven't changed to some shite defensive system and are playing the same way they did in few games I watched at the end of last season. Very aggressive pressing, high intensity game. They just need to find that little bit of quality in the final third and they'll be fine.

Also will this ref give out any yellow cards to Liverpool? They should've had at least have one by now.

A few of their players like VVD, Salah, and TAA are out of contract at the end of the season as well so will have to be sold in January if they dont want them to leave for free next summer, they are in a bit of a mess in honesty

Yep. I think Klopp saw the writing on the wall and didn’t have the energy for a rebuild/want to do it all again.

What's with the new camera angle at Portman Road. Normally higher up in the stand.

Decent Malacia replacement

Ipswich looks like a proper "newly promoted" team.
They are doing alright but look shaky in front of goal, on both sides of the pitch

Ipswich look alright, if they can keep the individual errors to a minimum they look like they'll compete in most games this season

Is it Too optimistic to think this could be their “Moyes” appointment, man out of depth and seasoned experienced players nearing the end , totally leaving the club to regress a lot quickly.

I'd worry more about them being able to keep this - both through the games and across the season

A lot of promoted teams look good early as they're all excited but the intensity eventually shows. Hope they can keep it up though, but just could do without shots of Ed Sheeran every few minutes

Ipswich already offering a bigger threat in the first half than Everton in the past decade
