PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

New season, same spurs. Too open. Needs to switch to double pivot or 3-2 not 2-3 at back.

Could have scored about 6 against a team that looked for all the world a Championship side for most of the game and somehow contrived not to win.

God bless Spurs for providing some light relief on an opening gameweek where not much of interest happened.

So Leicester just have to do that ten or so more times and they'll probably be on zero?

I suspect against better sides their headless chicken press will be exposed pretty quickly

This is just one of the problems Spurs will have, Big Ange really has no plan B, just attack. And keeping that press intensity up over the whole season and multiple competitions requires a deep bench and rotation which Spurs don't have.

Did Spurs sign Werner on a permanent? Weird if so, given they have Solanke now so Richarlison can play LW as well as CF.
There are 3 painfully average players. They're quite poor going forward this year. Son will get his fair share as usual, the rest will struggle.

For all their shots, Spurs generated 1.23 xG less than United. The difference in opposition goes without saying.

They are coached well and press a lot, but terrible in the final third, quality issue, and obviously Spursy things up eventually. Still have them on for a 4th place finish, but a lot rests on the rest being poor.

Spurs will struggle to finish top 4. They will destroy some teams but the high line they play without having a midfield that can control a game is suicidal. Only a matter of time before the media start changing their tune around Ange, from exciting to naïve.

Vardy's not human.
Can't stand the cnut off the field but always want to see him do well on it.

Spurs were good for most of the game but not clinical. Still think they’ll finish top 5

Yeah, which is to be expected when you look at their attacking options. Other than Son and Solanke, who needs to settle into the team, they don't really have any proven goalscorers.

It's pretty much the same situation we find ourselves in.

Spurs aren’t finishing in top 4. Pretty sure of it.

Three forwards who aren't very good at football but they press well.
