PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

Been watching Everton - Brighton - and it has been a fun game. Both teams quite good going forward, and awful defensively. Everton really shouldn't be behind

I'll never watch them again with him in charge. Dinosaur football - not for me.

Arsenal games are kinda boring.

Lovely to see Night's Watch FC getting a nice kick to the teeth on the opening day.

One of the most entitled sets of fans who think they have a monopoly on the idea of being proper/ the best football fans because their city only has one club and they have eff all else to do with their lives up there in the NE

Good football? It took them 63 minutes to register a shot on target against newly promoted Ipswich
Didn't watch the game but talking to Liverpool supporters that did they said they were fairly rubbish 1st half creating diddly squat, then on the hour managed to score due to awful effort by Ipswich to play offside. Then a second goal arrived shortly afterwards for Salah who was played in by Ipswich defender.

counterpoint: pawson is a blind, incompetent idiot who got conned by diaz flopping

Doesn't really matter - it is red when you put your head against another player. Diaz is play-acting - but it's still not allowed

Surprised by how shite Newcastle have been.

Southampton the better side by miles, and were before the red card as well.

So of course the barcodes immediately score.

Everton have been the better side so far against Brighton despite being down, just lacking any quality end product in the final third.

Diaz never moves at all. It's not "two players coming together", it was only one aggressor.
Aggressor is a stretch, Diaz smashed into the back of him after the whistle went then went down like a sack of the proverbial. The ‘softness’ of modern football is one of my biggest gripes.

They won't have a drop off like we did post SAF but I'm still not convinced they'll kick on.

I hadn't seen it so went looking for a replay. That's never a red.

Good to know VAR's as useful as ever.

The little shove right before is worse than the "headbutt". This idea that any head to head contact, regardless of force or intent, is a potential red if the "victim" chooses to fall over is so stupid. Diaz stays on his feet there like a normal human and no ref in the world is giving that a red. Just incentivizes being a wanker.
