Philippe Coutinho

Am I the only one who thinks Coutinho is somewhat overrated? Far too inconsistent for me and whilst he is capable of winning a game from time to time I think his inconsistency and his inability to stay injury free for a season marks him as a good player but not a great one. Certainly not £120m worth of talent.

Absolutely. Good player, but he's not even borderline world class. I honestly see him in the same bracket as their other players - Firmino, Mane, etc. Good, can slot into a decent team, but definitely not an equivalent replacement for Neymar. If I was a Barca fan spoilt with MSN, I'd probably be "meh" over this signing.

Playing in qualifiers does not classify you as cup tied, so it may drag on for a little while still.
My mistake then, I thought it did. This is going to the wire then although I do think he'll stay this year at least

Seems like Phil wants it both ways - wants the move but doesn't want to do his bit and fight for it.

Mind you, does Klopp really want a player who doesn't want to be there?

Who can they sign to replace him? Not many players as good as him available. Unless the spend a lot of it on Van Dijk to sure up the defence.

Mane is not better than Coutinho.

He was arguably more important to us last season as he was our only player with real pace who could get in behind defences. Whereas we still had Lallana and Firmino for the 'I play in front of defence and thread clever balls' role.

Big part of signing salah is having someone besides mane who can do what he does.
Thing is Coutinho is half of your plan B(the other half is set pieces). He's the only player you have with the individual ability to make things happen out of nowhere, when the game plan(plan A) doesn't work

Mane is your best player when plan A works because his skillset is the best suited to it

Losing Coutinho could be a monumental blow to your ambitions for this season. Would depend on how you replace him

Players with pace and power will always thrive more in England than clever players. Coutinho will look twice the player in Spain when he moves there

Apparently the journo is well respected, He reports the deal could be done and FSG are more receptive to the offer than earlier believed. Comments liverpool fans?

RAWK is such a weird site. Any negative rumours or comments - as regarding Coutinho for example - are suppressed and threads shut down.

The mods seem to believe that suppressing bad news will make it go away.

At least we know FSG are sellers so if any top clubs come in for their player they will sell. Good news for the other top PL clubs

You'd last 5 minutes on RAWK with your pro-Spurs, anti-everyone else agenda. You're lucky RedCafe mods are nice.

But you are right about RAWK. It's an asylum. You're also correct about their mods - it's a good way of summing up that place actually.

I'm looking forward to when Liverpool sell him and their fans start calling him the Brazilian Darren Gibson.

Apparently our stance remains the same. Not for sale. It depends a lot on how Coutinho conducts himself imo.So far he's given no hint that he is desperate for a move. we just have to hold tight.

Think your owners might look at the profit and say we bought him for 10 million or so, its too good to turn down.

English press are still consistent that Liverpool won't sell, and they're far more likely to have the actual track from the Liverpool hierarchy than Brazilians or Catalans.

Barcelona arent going to wait around, its either now or never for him. He is going to have to force it.

There are no indications Coutinho, Dembele or Dybala are going to force anything. There is not even a credible source that they´d be interested to leave their clubs this summer. Barcelona just needs to beat the drums loudly right now, when they have been caught completely off-guard by the Neymar departure. I honestly doubt they get any of their intended big targets, unless they put €130M plus on the table for one of them.

That is why I think they eventually end up with Mbappe. He has made it clear he wants to leave Monaco and their is an immediate spot for him in Barca's firtst 11 which is not the case with Real.

Really tough choice for Coutinho

On the one hand, he could move to the better club, with better players, in a nicer city, probably earn bigger wages, and have a real chance at winning trophies.

On the other hand, he can stay and experience more of those 'special European nights at Anfield', continue to be supported by the best fans in the world, and win or lose (more often lose, tbf), continue to play for the manager who always plays sexy heavy metal football.

I don't envy him.

I think he's waiting to see if both clubs can come to an amicable agreement. If worst come to worst, I think he'll hand in a transfer request.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. So, when Coutinho signs for Barca are they just going to pretend he's still a Liverpool player?

Who has asked to leave?

Also, I'm pretty sure there is a way back. What do you think De Gea said to United 2 summers ago?

But you're a much bigger club! No chance your fax-machine is malfunctioning!!

You aren't the only one. He's overrated by Liverpool fans but underrated by United fans, he's a very good player but nothing more. He's not one of the best players in the league, but to Liverpool he's irreplaceable which is why they'd demand a ridiculous fee.

Think out of those 3 cuntinho is likely to leave as he is the least likely to win anything at his current club.
It's a massive opportunity for him, seems odds on

They sound like North Korea!

Unless he is content with winning nothing he is going to have to hand in a transfer request. If Barcelona get a hint of zero chance of signing him, they will move onto other targets and then the boat will have sailed for Couthinho. I think this is his only chance he can make the move, seeing as Barca have a void to fill and also have plenty of money.

Haha.

They pretend that he's not that important then. A few will freak out over FSG, threads will be locked. But normal service will be resumed when Lanzini replaces the Brazilian.

Would love it. They lose such an important player late in the window. Klopp and FSG relationship probably get fecked beyond recovery.

Come on, cash in.

It will make no difference to us if he stays or goes.

It would be like celebrating Eriksen leaving Spurs or Sigurdssson leaving Swansea. Good players but let's face it, they're not gonna win anything if they stay.

Coutinho has been at Liverpool since 2012 and hasn't won a single trophy. So its not like they're losing Messi or something.

Having said that, they won't be able to replace him. No top players want to join Liverpool. So they'll have to settle for someone like Lanzini or Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It's always funny seeing them have a meltdown when their star player fecks off and "walks alone" but the reality is, none of their players are that good anyway.

If FSG really sell our best player behind Klopp's back after he's said that he's not for sale, Klopp should simply resign. It would be such a blow to the face if they prove that they're more interested in profit than in trophies. That's not the right way to run a PL club who has ambitions.

Klopps resignation is not enough, maybe they should close the club already.

Don't overreact

i'd sell him and offer Sanchez whatever he wanted to replace him.
Open chequebook

I can't believe Barcelona aren't moving heaven and earth to tempt Sanchez back there. An attacking triumvirate of Sanchez - Suarez - Messi is instantly the best in the world and enough to frighten the life out of every defence on the planet.
