Could the club be waiting for the next financial quarter to announce the deal?

or maybe club it together with another player who might be signing soon-ish

I don't believe this 16m 'to talk only' clause. Its stupid. On the other hand I do believe that the European Championship U21 is acting as obstacle to sign the players now.

If the players pushes it I doubt there will be a problem, assuming that there is such a clause. And assuming there is a problem.

I would not be at all surprised if the Blackburn Rovers owners believed that the 16million clause only allows a club to talk to him - but they are batshit crazy and likely incorrect. It will go to court if they push it, I reckon (if there any truth to it at all)

This transfer seemed to happen out of nowhere. What is the general consensus on us signing Jones? Do we need another defender?

I'd be confident SAF knows what he's doing. The more players we have (without crowding) the better. Competition for place which breeds a heightened game

Gentlemen, calm down.

We are in good hands, erm the best!!

I am sure there isn't a club in the country willing to pay 25m for him.

I am sure the lad will push the transfer the through whilst Steve Kean is busy working on his drink drive defence. Not guilty...yeah right? I bet he says that SAF spiked his drinks! :boring:

No chance. Hes done his medical - this indicates BB are happy to sell for the release clause!

"I was drinking because I saw Sir Alex driving on the hard shoulder while suffering from diarrhea. I couldn't get the image out of my mind. It's his fault".

"PS, I'm Kean without an e. Yes, Kean, not Keane. Kean, you know, Blackburn boss. OK, Blackburn manager. Or Something".

blackburn are playing hard-ball, they want 25m for feck sakes.

Apprently Venkys are holding it up because they want to see if they have to accept the 16m bid.

It doen't matter if other sources say the same thing. Basically these papers are talking out their arse....

Are they retarded? Release clauses are like Ronseal ffs.

I've seen one or two before and some of them are worded along the lines of:

'Should a formal offer of a sum in excess of X be offered for the transfer of the playing registration of Y, then Z will be obliged to allow Y to negotiate personal terms with the club in question'.

I can see how they might have a shot at it if it is the case, as they could make an extra million or two.

There's no such thing as a 'permission to talk' clause. I doubt there's any snag at all, we're probably just waiting to announce it after the u21 tournament.

I'm probably missing something, and I bow to your obviously superior legal knowledge, but if they are obliged to allow the player to negotiate personal terms once that fee is triggered then that's that, no?

Blackburn Rovers are just embarrassing themselves.

You have to feel sorry for the supporters. Those chicken pluckers taking over their club, then making a right mess of things. Even chairman John Williams, possibly the one man there who had a clue, felt he had enough and left.

So easy to take over football clubs.
