this is a reply on Sky spsorts site from somebody called Sam_4mu

This is a ridiculous signing. 18million for an overated player and to make matters worse we are spending 35 million on de gae and young. we need to buy game changers like sneijder and alexis sanchez

Have these deals been sorted or is Sam_4mu talking bollocks?

I'd say De Gea is 95% certain now, just need to wait on his current agents deal to run out. Not sure on Young but it's looking likely too.

Smalling turned Arsenal down, too.

Fair enough, I was thinking of Ramsey.

Smalling is actually a more surprising one given he was down in London and would have been likely to walk into the Arsenal first team. Looks like he chose the option of learning from Rio and Vidic rather than playing more games.

Jones could also have become a mainstay within the Arsenal team at the back and also seems to have gone with the option of learning from Rio and Vidic rather than playing each game, or else maybe is targeting central midfield. Of course he is also relatively local that may have also had an impact on his choice - nearer his friends and famiy.

I'll admit I haven't paid too much attention to him. But I've heard about his qualities for some time. If he can give Smalling and Evans some tough competition and effectively replicate the Hargreaves role, he'll be a good signing for us. The future of England's defence could be forming right in front of our eyes.

So then, Brown's career here looks to be at an end. He deserves to get some first team football elsewhere.

On to the next signing.

Arsenal - 4th place. Likely to lose their captain.

United - Champions.

No contest. Ramsey was an exception and I'm certain, after seeing our problems in midfield, he must regret his choice.

Certainly an interesting signing. No doubting his potential, I understand he's one for the future but I'm not sure how many games he'd play for us next season considering Vidic is almost always fit (touch wood) and Smalling is the backup to Rio. But still, I like this signing (the price is too steep though).

Not sure what this holds for Evans though.

Sky say he spoke to Wenger last night, but chose United. They imply that Liverpool were not his alternative choice, Arsenal were.

According to SSN he actually turned down Arsenal to sign for us, not Liverpool.

Interesting, and not something that has happened lately with young players so very good news!

Smalling turned Arsenal down, too.

I'm slightly worried by this. Jones would have walked straight into Arsenal's side, but as things currently stand, he will only be one of three players challenging the first choice pairing for a place at United. Presumably Fergie has given the lad assurances that he'll get plenty of games, so could this possibly mean United might cash in on Vidic?

Almost 100% certainly.

Absolutely no chance, IMO. He is our captain.

When was the last time we have given assurances to a young player on number of appearances?

Nice conspiracy theory. Vidic won't be sold though.

Where did that come from , no way we will sell Vidic ,unless he wants to go.

More like Fergie could see him as a combative Defensive Midfielder rather than a centre half, hence the game reassurances.

That would be a dumb thing to do, if not for his footballing ability you also need to have big personalities in the dressing room and Vidic is one of them. We've lost a couple of big personalities in VDS, Neville and even Scholes we cannot afford to lose Vidic.

*waits for the Vidic to madrid rumors*

edit: feck you Northstand

Never seen this guy play.

But at a loss as to why we're spending 16m on him when we're already well served for central defenders.

The positions we need are:-

Goalkeeper, 2 Central Midfield Players, & at least 1 possibly 2 wingers.

Hope this doesn't mean we can't got the extra 3 million to land an attacking player!

More likely this allows us to add a body in midfield in the short term while also allowing us to buy one of our future centre-halves.

I wonder where he will play. Assuming Ferdinand can still play for the next 2-3 years, Vidic being here for a while, and Smalling being our first choice back up then we probably did sign him for the defensive midfield role. Not seen enough of him in the midfield to comment, but he is potentially a very good defender.

Never ever? Not even our title winning game from last season??

He is already a very good player and could go on to be world class. Always got room for more genuine quality.

Get rid of your captain, and one of the main reasons the title was won.. What do you think?

He can play DM and he'll have the opportunity to form a solid defensive partnership with Smalling that only the daftest cnut of an England manager would ignore. So he is fecked if Redknapp gets that job I guess.

Yeah we'll sell our club captain and the worlds best defender at present.

if the following are true...

De Gea
Young
Jones

...we still need a attacking midfieder...one of Modric/Sanchez/Sjneider (sp)

I think you are reading too much into things. I think our old guard will leave with SAF. These youngsters are the beginning of a new era after the great Scot steps down.

suppose having Smalling and Jones there will mean we don't have to spend a fortune replacing Vidic/ Ferdinand over the next 2-3 years.

Almost 100% certainly.

Or is Rio gonna move into GK since we can't find one ? :p
