PGA and European Tour Golf 2016

Spieth was pissed at being put on the clock yesterday, which meant he couldn't wait for the gusts to die down. He wasn't directly annoyed at the wind which everyone seems to be saying. It does seem a bit silly to not give them an extra 30 seconds or whatever, given what's at stake.

The group was a hole and a half behind the group in front with Speith being the main culprit if we're honest.
Added he has a history of slow play with the way he approaches his shots so he cant really complain.

Yeah. You could even see Casey & DeChambeau were giving each other some nodding looks whilst Spieth was approaching some of his shots, which said it all really. I think Spieth is just so focussed that he doesn't take account of the time he's taking in between shots.

This may sound silly, given that they are playing in the most famous tournament in the world, but it is important for the game as a whole that the referees do highlight slow play and put players on the clock if they fall too far behind. The general players look at these tournaments and think that it's accetable to spend 3/4 minutes deliberating over shots and golf for the general public becomes a game that really tests your patience. I've played golf with some very casual golfers, high handicappers, like myself, who see nothing wrong with taking 3/4 practice swings, standing back, eyeing the shot again, phantom swinging, adressing the ball for another few practice swings before finally hitting their shot.

It's becomes a very frustrating game.

I stopped once between the 7th and 8th holes for a pint. Tbf though, we were the only group there that day.

That's perfectly acceptable, as long as you weren't shouting from the bar at anyone that tried to play though.

That putt they just showed on Sky was ridiculous. Not sure who it was. He had a 7/8 foot putt, as he hid it a gust of wind took it and it ran 40 foot by to the edge of the green.

The wind could see play stopped today if that happens a few times.

Spieth with the first birdie.

Greens seems really quick.

The wind there

Solid start from Spieth. Hopefully Rory makes a few of these dropped shots back soon.

I missed that, just looked up to see him gesturing. Did it just blow his ball off the green without him touching it?

Yes just as he went to mark it. Must be so frustrating. Not just off the green but in the water as well I thought.

Greens made of glass, cut into right angles and with 35mph winds. I reckon I would 8 putt every hole.

Spieth is brilliant in those situations. Expected him to miss at least 1 by now but keeps getting them in. Good watch this between him & Rory.

That's 3 lucky breaks Jordan has got off very wayward tee shots so far. Good luck paired with his putting is going to be impossible to beat around here.

His ball never landed where it is for this shot

The French spy kid masquerading as an American is trying to bring back the Hogan cap all on his own. I think it's working.

If you could graft Spieth's putting onto the rest of Rory's game, you'd have a player to challenge Nicklaus's record.

I wonder if the commentators/pundits feel like douches being made to call the crowd 'patrons'.

I always thought they were talking about the members, as in the people who really invest in the club. It's only yesterday and today I realised they're using it to talk about every fecker in the crowd.

McIlroy is so frustrating to support.

It's one of the many Masters specific things that show the sense of pretentiousness from the organisers. They're made to call them that.
