PGA and European Tour Golf 2016

Always been one of my favourite players to watch Watson. He sits alongside Fred Couples with the nicest looking swings in golf. What a gentleman as well.

Yeah, a true great and lovely guy. I said yesterday a page or so ago about the year he lost the Open to Cink on the final day :( Really pissed me off, as it would have been amazing to see him win well in to his 60's.

And there it swings round again. Casey sticks it in the water and the other two capitalise on his mistake :( Fair play Spieth has held it together since his little hissy fit.

I remember that. Watched it with my dad who has always said Watson was his favourite player. We were gutted when he didn't close it out. In fairness to Cink, even he looked a little sorry to pinch it off him in the end!

Would have been beautiful if that putt had dropped!!

I really do not like Spieth, he just rubs me up the wrong way.
Looks like a complete fake to me. If a story broke about him getting caught with 3 hookers and a bag of coke i would not be surprised

Yeah it sure would. And Cink did look guilty, but not guilty enough he should have let Tom have it

I can't believe how unlucky poor Justin Rose was then :( that really sucks. Hits the pin and it cannons off back in to the water. FFS!:(

Nightmare 18th for the final group
Rory could be leader for tomorrow

Spieth nailed a fine putt to keep the lead. Tomorrow is going to be great watching with those two in the final group.

Yeah, nice putt, wish he missed it though :(

Feel really sorry for the young amateur getting a triple bogey on the last, gutted for him, he would have been tied second poor lad. And Casey was unlucky as hell too, and so was Rose. Nightmare last few holes today. They were more like Amen corner than the actual corner was. Crazy :wenger:

Like you said though mate, sets it all up nicely for tomorrow. :D

Yeah that was character building stuff for Dechambeau! He looks a real prospect though and played the best golf of anyone in the field for 17 holes today. Well dressed fecker as well.

Agreed on all points. Definitely will do him good and he will learn from it. He looks outstanding as you said, and I agree he played the best and most consistent golf out of everyone. And yeah, he was looking smart as feck as well.

So I've been out all night, what did I miss?

Rory finished strong to get to -3 but most others, including Spieth, struggled with the windy conditions in the afternoon. Set-up lovely for the weekend now with Spieth (-4) and Rory in the final group.

I'm enjoying the irony of people being upset about a boring cnut being dominant at a boring sport. Personally I'm a big fan of the guy - I love a bit of ruthless efficiency.

So I've been out all night, what did I miss?

Tough, tough golf. High winds and quick, dry greens have made a lot of good players look average. Wonderful round from young amateur Dechambeau let down by two lost drives and a triple bogey on the last. Spieth spent all day arguing with the wind and struggled with his short game compared to yesterday and while Rory wobbled early on, he finished very strongly to set up a great day tomorrow.

Mickleson has been the worst inside 100 yards that I've ever seen him. Add that to the fact he's lost 50-100 yards off the tee and he's had a tough day. Watson had everyone in tears walking up the 18th for the last time, and then came within an inch of bowing out with a monster 40ft winding putt.

So I've been out all night, what did I miss?

Quite a bit mate. A real mixed bag of some truly brilliant golf and some absolute shite due to the wind, and just general shite play. Also it went through a real lull of a couple of hours where feck all appeared to happen then it all went mad again for an hour when they were all finishing up their rounds. The young French lad, the Amateur has been the highlight of the night for me, despite his triple bogey on the 18th which took him back to even par. He's been a joy to watch. Spieth has been all over the place and throwing his hissy fits and had a real up and down round and finished 4 under so 2 over for the day with Rory one behind. Mickelson has been the worst I have ever seen him, and he was dressed like a bunker.

Rory was scrappy but saved his round and has finished one behind Jordan. Rose and Casey could and should both have been up there but were both unlucky with shots that went in the water. Rose hit the pin on the 17th I think and it came back off the pin and went in the drink :( And Casey must have missed the land and went in the water by about 2 inches. Tom Watson nearly sank a 30ft/40ft sidewinding snake on the 18th to finish his career. I think Woosnam has retired too.

Think that's about it.

Cheers lads, I'll probably download the highlights from Sky in the morning but good summaries.

Rory and Jordan in the last group should make for an interesting weekend!

Brilliant approach from Berger there. That birdie makes him only the 4th player today to shoot under par.

Yup nice finish to a decent and interesting days play. Had a nice night tonight mate! Same time tomorrow? See everyone here then. Can't wait!

Everything I've heard is that he is a decent guy. Even Okies have embraced him, despite the fact he is a horn (Uni of Texas grad).

Yeah me too, and from what I have seen and read about him points that way too. He's just has a very boring golfing style. He's unbelievably consistent and an exceptional player, he just never really does anything outstanding. Even his exceptional shots still manage to appear kind of ordinary. I think that's quite a compliment really, it just doesn't make the best viewing at times. Even his constant berating himself and strange rants to the ball and his clubs and the wind and whatever even they still manage to appear quite normal. If someone like Mickleson or Rory did it it would be massive news and would appear insane, but it's just so normal with Jordan. Very strange really.

I get where you are coming from. He just seems too perfect - but I can tell you that he really is who he is made out to be.

He belongs to the same club as me and is by far the most polite, mature, respectful young man I have ever seen.

His special needs sister has a lot to do with the way he is. It is an absolutely amazing relationship to witness.

I like Spieth, has a bit of fire in his belly and isn't an arrogant cnut like some of his illustrious countrymen.
Rory looks like he's starting to play his best golf. If he get's going over the weekend it'll be difficult for anyone to keep up with him. Day's not out of it either at one over.
Special mention for Danny Willet. Impressed how he's hanging in there. He's maturing nicely as a golfer and he's got future major winner written all over him.
I think the conditions of the course are bordering on 'US Open' ridiculous. I know you want a firm test at the Masters, but with the windy & dry conditions they could have done more to soften the greens and make them a touch slower. It gets a bit farcical seeing the best golfers in the world struggle so much.

I agree, apart from his putting. His putting is outstanding, the best I've ever seen. Even better than Tiger Woods, and that's just outrageous.

Yeah, I agree, he reminds me of David Toms when he putts. That's the biggest compliment I can give him. I don't think I can remember Toms ever missing anything inside of 15 feet.

Yea I like Spieth, can't really understand anyone disliking him aside from to say he's maybe a bit boring but he seems like a really genuine nice lad and he's a hell of a golfer.

Agree as well with whoever mentioned his relationship with his sister, I think that humbles him.

Can't wait for today's live coverage to get going

He needs to go in two footed on McIlroy, liven himself up. Can't have this decent fellow thing.

To be fair though, golf doesn't seem to have it's fair share of arseholes or scandals. I mean John Daley was an absolute nutter and had problems, but he was still exceedingly loveable. Poulter dresses funny. Tiger has an addiction that most people would want to have, and doesn't involve needles or shoving rolled up banknotes up your nose, well it could do, but that would be really kinky. And of course, he is still adored worldwide and is a decent bloke. Justin Leonard upset most of Europe during the 1999 Ryder Cup for being disrespectful and a little unsportsmanlike, but that's about it really. It does seem that the vast majority of golfers are really nice, polite and decent blokes. Yet another reason why I love the sport so much. Although that doesn't explain why my local club is full of stuck up snobby cnuts!

John Daly! He was one of the ones me and friends used to always play as on the old Tiger Woods games, back in the super gigantic fat Xbox days, those drives!

As for Woods, I don't know why, I used to dislike him, just rubbed me the wrong way. When his game divebombed though, I found myself feeling sorry for him, and hoping he'd get back to his best. Couldn't say I dislike him now, that's for sure.

I've heard a few stories coming from American golfers about the behaviour of their team 'mates' during recent Ryder cups, which I'm afraid points towards a different direction. There's definitely been a big problem with lack of camaraderie in the American camp. A lot of the more neutral American players were actually embarrassed & shocked at the behaviour of certain high profile players towards their team mates & captains (much to the amusement of their European counterparts I must add).
There are some really nice fun humble guys out there, guys such as Fowler, Westwood, Garcia, etc. But there are also too many players who have their heads way too much up their own arses. It would be nice if they would show less self importance and more gratitude to the fact they're earning millions from a silly game that consists of hitting a tiny ball in a hole in the ground.

Yeah. McIlroy is a sack for example.

And Dustin Johnson is a right character.

From what I've heard Johnson really wants to play the European tour (but his sponsors won't allow him) because he so fed up with the amount of arseholes on the PGA tour

Thing is Spieth is so quick to throw hissy fits over the smallest thing ( the wind, the ball..he thinks he's in the real life version of the happening ) that i can see him being a nightmare to deal with if his practice was interrupted or a small part of his preperation didnt go 100 percent according to plan etc.
This is all in my mind of course. Just the impression that I get.

I've never met the guy, but apparently he's not like that at all off the course. He's very popular with his peers. Apparently the same goes for guys like Patrick Reed, Dutsin Johnson, Ricky Fowler, etc.
