PFA player of the year 2013

funny if the players boo when is name is called out in team of the season.

The PFA should withdraw him from the shortlist with immediate effect really, anyone who is prepared to bite his fellow professionals, his 'colleagues' doesn't deserve to win such an award in my opinion

But the PFA award is really the least of his concerns now

eh no, obviously it not but dare to think outside the box for a second. how influential a player is over the course of the season is arguably THE deciding factor, and if RVP has been that factor in the most succesful club over the years then hes obviously made a big impact this season. Hes clearly been hugely motivated by playing with a set of players and manager with a winning mentality. Deserves his title, anything else is just a bonus.

Why do I need to think outside the box? It's not a sudoku puzzle. It's an award for player of the year and it should go to the player who had the best year. Having a great year in "the most succesful club over the years" is no more worthy than having a great year for Everton or Tottenham.

cnut Wynalda saying Welbeck could win young player of the year because of "United Influence"

Well if he win it, it must be something. Anyway he won't get it and he shouldn't. In fact I think that he shouldn't have been nominated at all, and both Rafael and De Gea have been superior and have deserved much more than him to be nominated for the award. But unlike him, they are not Englishman playing in the Premier League.

I saw someplace else this whole Englishmen thing and one person was saying the percent of Englishmen on the PFA awards finalist lists are roughly the same as the percent of Englishmen in the league. Might have been British not English and of course the person might be wrong.

I was just talking about this case. I like Welbeck and think that he'll be a great player for us, but I don't think that he should have been nominated, let alone win it. And I think that the nationality means something why he has been nominated. Gutted for both Rafael and De Gea who bar Bale and probably Hazard deserved more than anyone else to be there.

RvP surely

RvP will probably not win just because he was unfortunate enough to have his best form early on to later slump down.

Usually the winner is in incredibly form when the voting is done and that decreases RvP's chances dramatically as he started slumping after new-year. Obviously he has been far from bad, but he built up a skill-ceiling from the first half of the season which makes his latter part look "bad" in comparison.

It'll be a disgrace if Suarez wins. I think he scored a hattrick right before the voting, and was temporarily the top scorer in the league. RvP went through a slump just as the voting took place, but has since taken back his place as top scorer and obviously has been a massive influence on United winning the title. If there's any justice, RvP will win, but I'm wary itll actually be Suarez.

Wouldnt mind if Bale won either though tbf

It's stupid to start the voting process before the season is over. Would be fitting if Suarez won it because of that.

Of the favourites Bale is least deserving, I'd place RVP, Suarez and Mata all ahead of him

Bale will win it purely for the timing of his peak form.

Mata, Suarez, RVP, Michu all more deserving imho

Bale, RVP or Suarez.

I could have no complaints if any of these win.

Bale has definitely had a better season than Mata and Michu

For all this talk of Suarez being more consistent through the season, how many separate games has he scored in compared to RvP?

With more goals and more assists, it would lend itself to suggest that RvP has had a better overall season, wouldn't it?

I'd go Bale though, what he has done since the turn of the year has been admittedly remarkable. Also how he has improved as a player is always great to see.

Having a discussion in the Scottish Football thread over whether the most talented player or the player who has the best season should win the award. I'd say the best season, what does everyone else think?

Best season obviously.
