'Pep' Guardiola sack watch

You had the first bite after I reeled you in with the dig about finishing above you for seven (7) consecutive years :)

Reeled me in?

I logged on this evening with the express intention of wumming.

Hilarious that you are even engaging with me, but you are searching for meaning after yet another soul destroying CL failure, so it’s fair enough.

I’m at peace with United being shit, so you simply cannot trigger me.

But those players have won, and dominated, under average managers.
Thats the point.
Feck me theyre winning league after league under the most average managers imaginable.

Only time they were remotely as dominant under a different manager was under Enrique in 2014-2015 by playing a totally different style.

Do you deny that the best season Messi, Xavi and Iniesta had was under Pep?

12 years since the Oil money and Sportwashing began right?

Is this City's 9th Champions League campaign?

And they don't really seem any closer to winning it than when they made their CL debut.

It's pretty remarkable really, Chelsea won the lottery and almost immediately became big contenders. City still seem to have that wonderful City-itis about them despite all the billions and billions of money pumped into them. It's comforting.

Since Sir Alex left we have also spent money like a drunken sailor. We've barely even qualified for Champions League let alone come close to winning it.

The Champions League is such a hard trophy to win. There's a reason why it's been so difficult to win it twice in a row.

What has this got to do with anything?

Its not hard for the top sides to go deep in. Its the same top sides making the last 4 time and time again
Multiple sides have reached multiple finals. Liverpool, Utd Madrid, Juve Atleti, Bayern and Barca have all reached multiple finals in quick succession within the last decade and a bit.
its not that hard for top sides to make an impression.
To consistenly fail against sides level below you is shocking.

Especially when you look at the teams that City had to face on their runs to the respective finals as well

City fans are trying to make the best of it. But truth be told, Pep is probably only marginally better than Pellegrini. For all the fanfare and wanky Prime documentaries, and the multi-hundreds of millions, they have a few extra Milk Cups to show for it.

Shit nothing club, financially doped, with a performance enhancing druggie of a manager.

Hilarious stuff

No he's not to be on a par with Pellegrini he'd have to leave with 4 league Cups and 2 league titles in 6 years.

Lets no exaggerate. Pep has won 2 league titles, 1 FA Cup and 3 league Cups in his 4 seasons. He's averaging almost double the yearly silverware.
Again he's a victim of being Pep Guardiola and anything less than winning a quadruple every season see's him called a failure.

Pellegrini did not have the insane backing that Guardiola has. He has done it to himself. Anyone would be judged with more scrutiny after that spend and so many transfer mistakes.

You can’t spend as much as he has, go out to Monaco, Spurs and Lyon in three consecutive years and not face scrutiny.

700 million just so you can put 5 past Burnley isn’t good enough.

Think so. Liverpool have only been in 12 Champions League tournaments, been to the final 4 times and won it twice.
City should be embarrassed with the amount they've spent and they still haven't even made a final

Spot on.

And Pep has the gall to make the post match comments that he did this evening about not being backed in the transfer market since joining City.

I am really not sure which part of what you wrote you consider to be wumming, as everything you wrote is true.

Wait what? Do you have a link?

Aye.

It's very difficult to win the CL, I'm not saying it's easy. But to never get close, one semi final in 9 attempts with the money they've spent and the teams they've had? It's appalling.

 I have to agree!
Spanking Burton Albion in the League Cup is just what Guardiola was brought in for!

They do pass it around beautifully though.

Get to feck.

And I also hate his chinos and shitty t shirts and jumpers.

Just wear a suit or tracksuit, you absolute reptile.

Oh stop with the pathetic excuses, as he was brought in for one reason only and that was CL, and he has failed badly, just like when he took over the then current champs BM and couldn't get them to a final.

Didn’t watch the game, just read the match report. Completely unshocked to read;
- City unperformed in a big game.
- Pep’s played a bizarre, defensive formation that City aren’t familiar in an important CL match.
- Attacking tactics didn’t work, and the team was reduced to a reliance on crosses from De Bruyne to an attack of midgets in a packed penalty area.

I’m increasingly convinced Guardiola won’t win the CL again.

During that period was the time everybody was in their prime, yes. Iniesta and Xavi dominated the Euros in 08 just before Pep joined. They were already fading when Pep left.
I actually put that Neymar side above Peps side. They abandoned needless possession and were incredibley direct. Literally unstoppable imo.
And thats with an average manager in charge.
Pep hasnt come close to recreating that since he left which just cements my point. Its not as if he is proving it elsewhere.
Feck me they were a Suarez miss away from putting Liverpool out at Anfield and probably beating Spurs in the final last year. They were unbeaten in ths league until about the 3rd last game as well so nearly a treble and invincible season in 1.
All under a shit manager who everybody wanted gone.

He also won two Community Shields, though.

They were near unbeaten in the 1st season under Valverde. Not the 2nd.

We're going in circles here. It's clear we disagree on the matter.

I also think Valverde has proven to not be a shit manager. They regressed without him.

His selection tonight was a disgrace.

Id be surprised if they wasn't questioning his position.

Tbh, it’s the fact that my wife tells me he’s handsome that really gets on my tits. Not going to lie, I’ve been biased against Ped for a long time because of this

Have you told her he can't even get a semi anymore?

That's spot on. Properly laid into him, but it's completely fair. Every single word of it.

We'll see what Guardiola does the next time he's in a position like this. I would be very surprised if he doesn't do something like this again in an important match. He's got it in his head that he's a great innovator of the game. There may even be some truth in that. But, he messed up big time tonight.

Also...surely the opposition should be looking at nullifying the stronger team, and not the other way around. It's such a strange approach.

All the ambition of a Spurs fan.

It makes me laugh. The statement is designed to belittle United. And yet, the very fact he is using us as a benchmark illustrates how mammoth we are in comparison to them. I can genuinely say that I never worried about whether United finished above City, unless it meant us winning the title. Small.

This is one of the most unintentionally hilarious posts I’ve read on this site, kudos.
