'Pep' Guardiola sack watch

If he's given up and wants out, why sign on for another 2 years?

Because he's in it up to his neck. Worried what will come out if he walks away when City's owners don't want him to.

They need a show of strength now they're about to be punished for these charges, and what better than Pep staying and harping on about how unjust it all is, and keeping the attention on them by sticking by them whilst they're in the lower leagues.

The City owners might even arrogantly think the PL will never have the guts to relegate them whilst Pep is still there, as already for some people there is serious element of doubt that they will get punished as he's agreed to stay, so it's working to an extent already.

You might be on to something here.

He is overstaying. All donwhill from here, they wont dominate like they used to. You could see the signs last season already, but now without Rodri for a long time, the wheels are off.

It's still hard to tell if it's a dip in form, if his dull style has finally been found out, or if he's just given up and wants out.

I'm covinced it's the latter.

I think it's more that he's constantly managed teams with much better players than anyone else, and not usually stuck anywhere this long.

Now he's got a squad that isn't actually that special and at a time when they have already won everything so won't but into the ideals to the same level.

This season has been overdue. They will need a clearout in the Summer and to put some fresh blood in as the team has been slowing down gradually the last few years.

They’re still second in the league, people acting like they’re 10th. I would like to see them lose a few more before ruling them out.

They're playing like a team that's been told they're almost certainly going down... Given up pretty much as nothing to play for.

We are most likely getting murdered at Anfield, but law of averages might dictate that we get a rare result there.

Classic Jose from a few years ago.

6 games in all competitions without a win, 5 losses and one draw when they let a 3 goal lead slip against the 4th best team in Holland. In those 6 games Scored 7 and conceded 17.

Up next Liverpool in Anfield a ground that Pep has won just once as manager in nine attempts.

He is un-sackable though isn’t he? Prolly only him and Fergie at their peak are un-sackable.

Stopped watching with about 15minutes to go. Congrats to him and his team for an impressive win against a really 2nd rate European side.

It was never in doubt :+1:

Just saw Txiki Begiristain in the petrol station near the Etihad buying tipex, I wonder what that's about..

Oh my I’ve just looked on Sky Sports and wondered why they looked so low on the table, then I saw the score.. how on earth have they managed that? It was 3-0 when I turned off

Klopp at Liverpool was aswell. Despite only winning 1 league title. Slots about to embarrass him by matching him in 1 season.

Football and fine margins. Laporte's clearance off the line and a win at home to Spurs is probably what gets Klopp 3 EPL titles instead of 1.

I still see this version of Pool as Klopp's team.

He has reached the 2001-02 Ferguson stage, where there’s some burnout and fatigue. Still successful but not as successful as you once were, probably more determined the Champions League than anything else and looking to cash out to retire outright or in Guardiola’s case, quit and take a sabbatical.

There was that ongoing story in How I Met Your Mother about the curse of the Blitz. It's like ten Hag passed the curse on Guardiola when he got sacked at United.
