Pep Guardiola agrees contract with Bayern

yeah but where is Kicker getting their news from? you know how fast rumors spread.
if this is true then that sabbatical in NYC looks to be just a family thing and nothing more. which would be funny.

then it's real. oh well. if for nothing else it puts paid to all the speculation.

good job Pep, not going for the astronomical money deal.

This will make the German league even more interesting than it is now.

Would love to see the battle between a Guardiola Bayern Munich and the current Dortmund team.

Wow! I expected him to come to England. Good move, Bayern is a side which suits his 'principles' and he already has a fantastic squad assembled there. Will be a good fit for both parties.

So Heynckes is retiring? Seems a bit cruel to push him out when he's doing so well, even if Guardiola is available and it's a one-time thing?

But I guess if he's been making noises about retiring for a while, and then Guardiola comes along to give him a nice succinct ending point to handover to another great coach, then it all makes sense.

Also, let's be clear here: Bayern are a very wealthy club. He won't be getting paid pittance there - it'll still be a small fortune, given his standing and talents.

Poor British journos have been adament that he's coming to the PL.

I guess its back to wanking over Mourinho.

Interesting move but a strange one too in a way. He left Barca because he struggled with the pressure and as Bayern Munich's coach he will be under just as much pressure. At City,PSG and Chelsea he wouldn't have to deal with that pressure. This means he may still be a potential Fergie replacement though.

Haven't Bayern been on a come and buy us tour to the middle east recently? Doha was it?

Well guess all those meetings SAF was supposedly having with Pep in NYC were not about Pep taking over the United job next season then.

Good fit for him I think. Top club, chance to prove himself capable at someplace other than Barca.

Glad he's gone to Bayern over City and Chelsea. Means he can come here once Fergie retires... hopefully

Didnt he very recently say he wants to manage in England as he could never fulfill his dream of playing there? Doesnt make sense. He could easily get a job of his choice in the PL.

Maybe he's wanting to bide his time until a certain job is up for grabs..

He's still very young. Fair play to him for choosing class over money.

Graham Hunter's just after saying on sky he won't go to any club that won't let him do it his way. So that certainly ruled Chelsea out right away

Wonder if he'll be able to tempt any Barcelona players to go with him.

I had a really strange feeling he was going to join United as a coach and then take over in a year or two when SAF retires.

I think Fergie will go for another 3 years after this season. Guardiola could still be the man.

This can only bode well for us. Not only is Pep going to get experience managing a very good team and alleviate the doubts that he can't be successful without Barcelona, but the biggest plus is Chelsea may have no choice but to appoint Benitez as their manager for next season.

Very good move from Guardiola, certainly the wise choice from the 3 obvious vacancies at the big clubs.

It wasn't quite where I thought he'd end up but it's a good move. Bayern are a strong side and the Bundesliga is clearly on the rise.

Benitez is probably feeling a bit safer in his job today.

It looks to me like Guardiola might fancy the United job eventually (this isn't a cocky United fan post, before anyone says it). The City job looked like Guardiola's for the asking with his old mates from Barca in charge. It's pretty apparent Roman wanted him to take over Chelsea. He could have had either of those this summer, I'd guess.

I can see this ending with Mourinho ending up at Chelsea or City this summer, as he plainly wants out of Madrid. All things being equal, that would put Guardiola firmly in the frame when Fergie does eventually leave.

EDIT: Obviously Bayern are a great club and he might have no interest in ever managing us, but he has spoken a lot about wanting to manage in England.
