Pep Guardiola agrees contract with Bayern

Will be interesting if Bayern get Barcelona in the knockout stages of the UCL when he's in charge.

So what now about City paying those big prices to lure Pep's former assistants away to Eastlands? If it was their game plan to entice Pep there it makes them look stupid also.

You have to wonder which manager City and Chelsea will be turning to now. Mourinho is the obvious choice, but who else is on the market?

Actually - Magath is available. And he has already won some Championships. But I really would like to see the players of City when he let's them run after losses... :D

Bayern is one of those clubs you have to admire.

Very good choice, in my opinion.

I'm glad he's gone there. Fantastic club

This. It's an incredibly well run club, I'm glad he's going somewhere like that, even though he'll be subjected to quite a bit of pressure. To be fair, as SAF probably won't leave quite yet, it could be a very very good test to see how he does before he's considered for the Utd job. It's a similar club in terms of worldwide stature, same kind of expectations, financially healthy...

And the duel with Klopp will be interesting, two very good managers.

Delighted for him, best choice he could've made in my opinion. :)

So, he is going to die next year?

Well he's confirmed he's retiring. The next step is death

Oh and to the rest...remember he could fail at Bayern, so don't let the perfectly fitting shoe rest on your foot just yet,

Makes a lot of sense when you consider the reason he left Barca.

City and Chelsea exist on the whim of their benefactors.

Well guess all those meetings SAF was supposedly having with Pep in NYC were not about Pep taking over the United job next season then.

Good fit for him I think. Top club, chance to prove himself capable at someplace other than Barca.

Perhaps Fergie was just giving him some advice. Along the lines of "Don't fecking bother with that mob down the road from me, no matter how much cash they throw your way."

A good choice from Pep I think. German football, the place to be!

All this does is further prove that Guillem Balague doesn't have a clue.

With this move it seems more and more likely to be the next Man Utd manager:devil:

Chelsea job vacant - refuses to take it.
Man City job - Mancini seems settled
Man Utd job - with Fergie stating he would be around for a few years.....:D

plus the fact he and Sir Alex have so much respect for each other and were actually spending time together in NY really makes you wonder

Maybe he's wanting to bide his time until a certain job is up for grabs..

Bayern are a fantastic club, brilliantly run and do most things the right way. I dont think he'l be packing his bags in a hurry just because SAF goes. I know you're jesting probably but just saying.

He's still very young. Fair play to him for choosing class over money.

Yep, of the jobs available to him, this makes the most sense. Fantastic club. I never thought he'd go to Chelsea, they are too much of a joke but City was always a possibility. Glad he chose Bayern..

Case for Mourinho at United becomes stronger now though. Pretty much Rules out his biggest competitor.

Yeah. Before the 90% shit, he was saying he wouldn't go to Bayern when the rumours first broke. He is a knob.

Very interesting choice, totally unexpected for me.

A well run superb club, a different type of very strong league... I hope he succeeds and proves his probable worth.

If you listened to the English media you would think that Jose and Pep are the only two good coaches in the world.

It seems Bayern have finally realised after more than a decade of underachieving that having a quality manager for the long term to compliment their players is the way forward. I guess Dortmund have illustrated what to others what blindingly obvious.

I can see Pep doing really well.

He will. Its the best job he could have got. A fantastic squad. Good young players with the money to buy the best talents available. Technical players who can play the ball etc.

Not sure this is the best time for the news to have come out though. It'l be a distraction.

Another step in the right direction for German football. Once Sir Alex retires German football will potentially have two of the top three managers in the world and there's a real possibility that German football will go on to be the top league in Europe in a few years. He might well be interested in the United job but I'd say the reason he chose Bayern over City or Chelsea is simply that Bayern are a better team in a league that's on the up.

I am now convinced he will be our next manager. Pep will hang around at Bayern for 2/3 years. Then once Fergie retires, he'll come along to take up the mantle.

I was convinced he would go to the PL next season, but in my opinion he's stalling just so he could come in and join us once the job is available.

Nevertheless, its a great move for him.

Two incredibly successful coaches who are likely to be available (well in Pep's case 'was') soonish...of course they're going to talk about those two right now.

If Cristiano Ronaldo and Franck Ribery were available for transfer, they wouldn't write stories about Willian and Loic Remy.

Top class manager that plays amazing football and likes to bring through younger players he will be perfect for Bayern. At least 1 CL win during his 3 year contract for me.

Wishful thinking imo mate, you're letting your love for United cloud your judgement.

The German league is fantastic and on the up. Bayern are the best team in the league and a squad thats capable of winning every trophy. He'l be working with top players in a top league. He'l be getting the freedom to do things his own way too.

Why would he pack everything in and leave just because the United job becomes available/?

Yeah, Bayern's squad looks immense and they outplayed both City and Chelsea last season in the Champions League (I do realise they lost the final, but it was incredible luck for Chelsea more than anything). They also have the money to spend as proven by €30m they spent on Martinez so Guardiola will be free to bring a few new players.

Not reading to much into this but...

Fergie and Pep have met several times over the last few months.
Pep says he wants to manage in England
Fergie recently says he'll go 3 more years.

and he could of easily gone to City or Chelsea this summer..

Trying not to put 2 and 2 together and get 5. But muppetry says we know who will be replacing Fergie.

Where Has SAf said this mate? Link?

Probably the correct decision by Guardiola.
There's a stability at Bayern which he would not get anywhere in the Premier League (City,Chelsea)

Great move for Pep. Different people will have different views but I don't think there are bigger clubs in the world than Us, Real, Barca, Milan and Bayern.

Will be a great chance for him to free himself from the shadow of Barca and prove himself as one of the games great managers.

It might be a bit of wishful thinking, but it is entirely possible. If Pep wanted to manage in England now he could have gone to Chelsea or probably City when they eventually rid of Mancini, therefore probably ruling him out ever being SAF's successor. He's made a great choice in going to Germany. Like everyone has said, they are a top top club with a young team. It's the perfect job for him now really.

Don't Bayern have a director of football who handles transfers like Barca did so Guardiola's, more of a coach than a manager? The likes of Alaba, Badstuber, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Müller form that homegrown core that Guardiola's utilised so well, there's plenty of youth in that team with the likes of Emre Can on the cusps of the first team waiting to be brought through and they're well capable of playing a possession-based game as they're one of just two teams in the top 5 leagues to average over 60% possession this year. It's perfect for him.

I don't see Guardiola jumping at the chance to leave them as soon as Sir Alex retires at all but he's 30 years younger than him so maybe he'll come a few years after that. Maybe we'll take Mourinho and then Guardiola.

Good move for him. I knew he would want a club with history and prestige. 3-year contract is a good move as well. Next United manager.

In 2 or 3 years time, we'll find out whether you were right or wrong.

He's on a 3-year contract at Bayern I heard - seems remarkably similar to how long Fergie believes he'll be here for.
